| A friend of mine had previously enjoyed it. I was concerned because of my age (69). She assured me that I would get instruction and practice in the park across the street from the Segway office. As it happened, two members of our group (not associated with my friends) were late getting there. The Segway employee informed us that there was a second group coming in two hours. (We were the 6:30 group). since two folks in our group were late, we were not going to be able to practice operating the Segway in the park. Instead, we were put right out on the sidewalk, heading for the White House. My Segway got out of control in the middle of the street crossing New York Avenue and it caused me to have a severe nervous reaction, considering that a lot of auto traffic was coming my way. At this point, one of the Segway employees responded to my screams and helped me off the Segway. I had gone two blocks for $65 and was not given my money back.
If I had instruction and practice, I think I could have operated the Segway, but it was obvious that the money was of more importance to the employees than the comfort and safety of the customers. Geraldine Lyda (part of Leslie Hope"s group of 7) |

| This is a happy, fun, thing to do. Rolling/floating along on the sidewalk is a light hearted feeling. Actually it is joyful. I think anyone who can physically stand for lengths of time and balance would enjoy the Segway tour. However I would suggest offering 2 different time frames for the tour - with 2 different price levels. I very much wanted to try the Segway, but I wear a brace on my knee. It is not possible for me to stand in one position for 2 hours. For me, I would prefer a one hour tour. Still I did sign up and go, because I just wanted to see for myself. Initially, it requires a short training time to get used to the way the Segway steers -- side to side rather than turning the handles and pressure from your toes to go forward and pressure on your heels to stop. The tour guides were informative about the White House and the other buildings and monuments we passed or paused to see. There was a guide in the front of the group and a guide in the back of the group. When I did need to end my tour at one hour, the guide was very gracious. She rode with me back to the start without any hesitation or disgruntled comments. She was very cheerful and made it clear that whatever I wanted to do -- she was totally happy to make happen. I recommend this activity. |

| Loved the machines - they are truly revolutionary - think and you move. First 30 seconds were a bit skechy but within 4-5 minutes - the segways became an extention of our bodies. Covered a lot of ground and the guide was superb although I have to admit riding the segways was a much higher priority than learning about the sites - but we live around here so that's to be expected. Recommend highly as a way of getting a feel for the city. |

| Other than the rain which postponed our start and caused us to end early, the tour was great fun. Loved it. |

| Adam was knowledgable and made it a great experience. On a down note one member of our group did not feel comfortable on the segway and their really was no place for her to stay while the rest of us were on tour. Supervisor had to be called as she was told she could not stay in the office. She was finally allowed to stay alone in the office, but their needs to be a contingency for that situation since tickets are non refundable. |

| When offered the opportunity to try something you've never done before, why pass it up? This was a great exciting experience and well worth the small investment in time and money. The most amazing thing is how fast the instructors had us out the door and enjoying the ride on our own. They obviously had more confidence in us than we had in ourselves. I was amazed at how fast everyone just 'caught on'!
The instructors were knowledgeable about the sites we visited and their presentations were simple and to the point. I lost count of the number of envious pedestrians that said "I wish I could do that! " ... We did!

| I recommend the 9:30 tour as most museums on the route (around the mall) aren't open yet so the pedestrian traffic on sidewalks is minimized. No one else had signed up for my morning tour so it was just me and my Segway guide. Since I was already quite familiar with the sites, I was able to focus my attention on having fun with my Segway. Nonetheless, my guide did provide good info at each of the highlighted sites along with interesting "tidbits" about the sites I had not heard before.
On Segway training: You'll spend a few minutes in the 'store' getting a preliminary feel for the segway==getting on, off, turning, stopping (after seeing a short general safety video on the Segway). Then it's off to the park right across the street to really get the hang of it. In my case, I'd say in about 10-15 minutes we were ready to hit the roads (sidewalks). I found the Segway to be quite stable in the same sense that I bike feels stable as soon as you learn to ride and get the hang of how it handles. I found that it was quite maneuverable and stopped quickly when needed as we crossed streets, weaved through pedestrians on sidewalks, etc. After about 30 more minutes I felt very comfortable with any maneuvers and full speed. The segway has plenty of power and accellerates rapidly when called for (I weigh 205 lb). |

| I highly recommend this segway tour if you want to have great fun -- but not if you want to learn about the nation's capital. While our guide -- a college student -- was most gracious and very accommodating, he didn't seem to have a good grasp of facts (George Washington is buried at Mount Vernon -- NOT in the Capitol building as we were told). Facts aside, it's worth every minute. |
