Having never been to Washinton, DC, I had no idea how many interesting sites there were and how far apart they are. The Segway Tour was a great way to see a lot and have fun. It was easier to operate the Segway than I expected and our guide did a great job of taking us through all of the safety issues prior to the tour. It was a great experience! |

This is a wonderful way to see a lot of the city in a short amount of time. Walking that far would take at least half a day, and riding a tour bus is not as much fun. The Segway is the star of the tour. Most people have not had the opportunity to ride one, and it is an exhilarating experience! Would recommend this to anyone who is agile. The tour guides were young, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. |

All of us in our group loved the Segways, but we were not impressed with the guides. One never made eye contact (duh, you're dealing with the public), and neither had much enthusiasm for presenting historical data, or seemed to know anything that we hadn't already learned elsewhere. I think the tour could have been of the airport or some other venue and we would have still loved it because of the magic machines, but it would have been nice if the guides acted as if they cared. And for god's sake, isn't charging $2 for bottled water a little petty? |

We had a blast. Going in we had some reservation, but after the training session and practice it was a breeze. Our trip was about two hours and we could have done twice that. Feet get a little tired but there was time to break and walk around while on the tour. If you get the chance, this is a cool ride, all of our group enjoyed it with the exception of one lady who had a spill but she got to close to a retaining wall and lost control. She was able to continue the tour with a only a bump to the elbow. An excellent time overall. |

I am a 26-year-old, fun-loving resident of Washington, DC and had been waiting enthusiastically for someone to visit me so I had an excuse to do one of the goofy-yet-fun-looking Segway tours. I finally had my chance last week and left utterly disappointed.
The Segways themselves -- and Capital Segway's orientation process -- was just fine. A very convenient location and well-run program. But when it came time for the tour...now that's a different story.
The tour guide, MAYBE 20 years old, was not the least bit professional. First, he looked like he came from the gym (granted it was a scorcher that day, but perhaps a polo and some khaki shorts might be better??). That might not have mattered that much except for the fact that he was awful at explaining to us where we were going and gave bare-bones descriptions, at best, of all the stops. It was as if he had just Wikipedia-d the sites beforehand and was rattling off random facts as we went along. No interesting narrative, no context of where we were, unable to answer questions...nothin'. I mean, I know I live here so perhaps I just have a smidge more DC knowledge ingrained in me, but come on, dude! Give us our money's worth!
Like I said, Capital Segway -- the only licensed Segway tour company -- had everything right in terms of reservations, orientation, etc. I just think they should be more picky about their tour guides: require college history students or something. I felt like I should have just rented two Segways and gave my friend the tour myself.
For all the DC visitors who truly want to learn something about this city, here are some more tips: book your Capitol tour through your senator or representative. I did and the gal led us on a 2-hour, comprehensive Capitol tour in which we got to see the Senate in session and everything! Set it up by calling your congressperson's office. It's way better than standing in line at the general tour center. Also, reserve a place at the National Archives and you get to go in a special entrance instead of waiting in the 1-2 hour line. |

I thoroughly enjoyed riding the Segway through town. It was the perfect way to tour the city! (The initial curb to cross the first street was a little frieghtening to my Mom who opted not to go on the tour. Would recommend taking that part a little slower especially after reviewing the video.) Otherwise I would recommend this to my friends and family, and I will do it again! |

On a sweltering 100 degree plus afternoon nothing beats touring the sights of DC on your own personalized transport. Covering serious miles while not sweating it is great. The added bonus of gliding and tangoing with the Segway seals the deal. |

Zip around DC effortlessly like a VIP (you and the 12 other strangers you are with) for 2 fun filled hours.
The tour is ok, but the real fun is riding around on the i2 segway
