Great fun on the Segway!!

My sister and I have been very interested in riding on a Segway. I am local to D.C. and my sister had worked in D.C. for many years so we were much more interested in just playing on the Segway instead of the D.C. tour. The tour seemed very good but we were really there just to experience riding on a Segway. We absolutely loved it and are now looking into other locations to ride them again. I am thinking of touring Gettysburg on a Segway and my sister is looking into the Segway tour of downtown Portland (she now lives in Oregon). We highly recommend the tour to anyone interested in D.C. or who just wants to ride a Segway. A++++++++++++++++++ experience!

Fun way to see the city!

This tour was very fun. The "training" session on the segways was very informative and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Segways seemed new and/or in very good condition. The tour itself was a good length and was very thorough. We had a great time!

An Outstanding Experience

The whole experience was wonderful! The Segways were surprisingly easy to learn and quickly became so natural that everyone (young and older adults) in our group was zipping along, turning, weaving, spinning, stopping without the slightest inhibition. We were interested in trying it to see if we'd want to bring visitors to the area on such a tour -- absolutely! And even though we live here, the information shared by the guides was mostly new to us and very well presented. We can see how much fun this would be with friends -- might even set up a private group tour. And the evening (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.) time was perfect! Beautiful day, fantastic late afternoon light on the buildings, couldn't have been better. Thanks for a truly memorable (in a really good way) experience.

Great "Dry Run" but Cut Short by Weather

Great fun and a new experience for my husband and I. Unfortunately, we only made it to the first site (the White House) and had to turn around because of an incoming thunderstorm. Bummer. The upside is the GM gave us a certificate for a return visit. We look forward to our return visit!

Second time doing this tour and as the saying goes the more you do it the better it gets! I would highly recomend this tour, the guides are great and it is the best way to see the sites quickly and have a blast doing it.

Segways were awesome but tour guide needed help!

I am a 26-year-old, fun-loving resident of Washington, DC and had been waiting enthusiastically for someone to visit me so I had an excuse to do one of the goofy-yet-fun-looking Segway tours. I finally had my chance last week and left utterly disappointed. The Segways themselves -- and Capital Segway's orientation process -- was just fine. A very convenient location and well-run program. But when it came time for the tour...now that's a different story. The tour guide, MAYBE 20 years old, was not the least bit professional. First, he looked like he came from the gym (granted it was a scorcher that day, but perhaps a polo and some khaki shorts might be better??). That might not have mattered that much except for the fact that he was awful at explaining to us where we were going and gave bare-bones descriptions, at best, of all the stops. It was as if he had just Wikipedia-d the sites beforehand and was rattling off random facts as we went along. No interesting narrative, no context of where we were, unable to answer questions...nothin'. I mean, I know I live here so perhaps I just have a smidge more DC knowledge ingrained in me, but come on, dude! Give us our money's worth! Like I said, Capital Segway -- the only licensed Segway tour company -- had everything right in terms of reservations, orientation, etc. I just think they should be more picky about their tour guides: require college history students or something. I felt like I should have just rented two Segways and gave my friend the tour myself. For all the DC visitors who truly want to learn something about this city, here are some more tips: book your Capitol tour through your senator or representative. I did and the gal led us on a 2-hour, comprehensive Capitol tour in which we got to see the Senate in session and everything! Set it up by calling your congressperson's office. It's way better than standing in line at the general tour center. Also, reserve a place at the National Archives and you get to go in a special entrance instead of waiting in the 1-2 hour line.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE

I thoroughly enjoyed riding the Segway through town. It was the perfect way to tour the city! (The initial curb to cross the first street was a little frieghtening to my Mom who opted not to go on the tour. Would recommend taking that part a little slower especially after reviewing the video.) Otherwise I would recommend this to my friends and family, and I will do it again!

People will look at you and stare in awe..and wish it was them upon this cool piece of technology!!! Zip around DC effortlessly like a VIP (you and the 12 other strangers you are with) for 2 fun filled hours. The tour is ok, but the real fun is riding around on the i2 segway This is one of the top 10 coolest things I have done in my lifetime
