Recommend it highly, Lots of Fun!

I live locally and wanted to try out riding the machines. It was a blast. I think it was a good value and recommend it for the adventure and the novelty. I took the 6:30 tour so the walkways were not crowded and you could get some spurts of speed. You adapt pretty quickly to maneuvering.

Not an ordinary tour

This is a happy, fun, thing to do. Rolling/floating along on the sidewalk is a light hearted feeling. Actually it is joyful. I think anyone who can physically stand for lengths of time and balance would enjoy the Segway tour. However I would suggest offering 2 different time frames for the tour - with 2 different price levels. I very much wanted to try the Segway, but I wear a brace on my knee. It is not possible for me to stand in one position for 2 hours. For me, I would prefer a one hour tour. Still I did sign up and go, because I just wanted to see for myself. Initially, it requires a short training time to get used to the way the Segway steers -- side to side rather than turning the handles and pressure from your toes to go forward and pressure on your heels to stop. The tour guides were informative about the White House and the other buildings and monuments we passed or paused to see. There was a guide in the front of the group and a guide in the back of the group. When I did need to end my tour at one hour, the guide was very gracious. She rode with me back to the start without any hesitation or disgruntled comments. She was very cheerful and made it clear that whatever I wanted to do -- she was totally happy to make happen. I recommend this activity.

Great Way to Get An Overview of the City!

I had a great time! The Segway was easy to manuever, and the guide was knowledgeable, considerate and informative. I have been to D.C. many times, but still saw parts and views of the city that I had not seen before. This would be most ideal for a first-time visitor because one could see quite a bit of what the city has to offer: Without the amount of physical exertion that would be required to see that much, while still enjoying the outdoors!

but beware of being too comfortable. Getting too close to another segway or object can result in a nasty fall. I've got a big bruise on my knee. Luckly, the helmet saved me from a head injury.

it's all about the segway

I'd been on a segway tour in Chicago and absolutely loved it. This tour was great too, nice equipment, good guide. Loved that she was fine with us just playing on the segways if we wanted to, instead of paying attention to the local information. She also made sure we got to ride the segway for the full two hours, even though we were technically done with the tour 10 minutes early, by letting us ride around in the nearby park at the end. I'm going to go again next time I'm in DC.

More into riding the Segway than the DC Tour

Andrew did a great job as tour guide. I've been to DC several times, so I was more focused on the Segway ride than a historical tour.

A friend and I went on our day off and loved it!! We were a little hesitant since we hadn't seen too many people doing the tour, but now I can't believe we didn't do it sooner. The machines were brand new and very easy to operate. A 5 min training session was all we needed to feel comfortable. I will never walk the monument tour again!!! The Segway let us cover so much ground in only 2 hours. After we were done with the tour, we immediately began discussing our next Segway tour!

Good tour, the absolute best way to see a small chunk of the city. Wished it was longer.
