| I recommend the 9:30 tour as most museums on the route (around the mall) aren't open yet so the pedestrian traffic on sidewalks is minimized. No one else had signed up for my morning tour so it was just me and my Segway guide. Since I was already quite familiar with the sites, I was able to focus my attention on having fun with my Segway. Nonetheless, my guide did provide good info at each of the highlighted sites along with interesting "tidbits" about the sites I had not heard before.
On Segway training: You'll spend a few minutes in the 'store' getting a preliminary feel for the segway==getting on, off, turning, stopping (after seeing a short general safety video on the Segway). Then it's off to the park right across the street to really get the hang of it. In my case, I'd say in about 10-15 minutes we were ready to hit the roads (sidewalks). I found the Segway to be quite stable in the same sense that I bike feels stable as soon as you learn to ride and get the hang of how it handles. I found that it was quite maneuverable and stopped quickly when needed as we crossed streets, weaved through pedestrians on sidewalks, etc. After about 30 more minutes I felt very comfortable with any maneuvers and full speed. The segway has plenty of power and accellerates rapidly when called for (I weigh 205 lb). |

| I pre-paid for my Segway tour, got to the shop, got on the machine, and immediately thought, "Oh no... I've made a terrible mistake!" Only because I was wobbling all over the place. But then my tour guide told me to "trust the machine," and gave me very specific tips on how to make it do what I wanted it to do.
Within 15 minutes or so, I was all over the place, just like an old pro.
I had the BEST time. It was fun to see people react to our Segway group. Tourists were taking photos of us instead of the White House or the Capitol!
The Segways were brand new, and they rode as smooth as silk. Very quiet, too. The route was good, and we got to see a lot. I enjoyed the tour guide. He was funny and helpful.
I can't wait to travel to another city and see if they offer a Segway tour. Really, really a blast!
(The only thing I would do differently is I would have taken a longer tour, or also taken a night tour.) |

| Two Thumbs, Way Up! Do the tour with the new model Segways!!! They are much more fun to ride than the older models with the twist handle to turn. The new ones are like skiing!!! Way Cool!!! |

| This was a great tour. It might be a good idea to rent the segway to indivuduals much like a car rental. It was dificult to have to walk around after experiencing the ease of the segway! |

| Washington is a beautiful city, but it covers a lot of ground. This tour gave me an overview of the top attractions, with interesting comments by the guide. We didn't stop at all the spots one might visit, but as we went by other potential sites to visit, they were identified by our guide. In a relatively short time, we got the lay of the land.
And by the way, the Segways are easy to ride. The training was easy to follow and driving them was very intuitive. For many reasons, it was a great experience. |

| If you've never been on a Segway before, I strongly recommend this tour - it's a blast.! As you cruise around DC, you'll get curious and envious looks from the pedestrians that you leave in the dust. Loads of fun (and you'll see the sites, too!). |

| If would highly recommend participating in a Segway tour if only for the experience of riding one. It was really cool! We may not yet have flying cars, but these come in a pretty close second. At Capital Segway the tour guide gives you about 10 minutes of practice in a park across from the store and then it is off into the city. You are allowed to proceed at your own pace. The guide tells you what the next destination is and the route to take. You are allowed to speed ahead or take your time. Not all of the Segway tours companies give you this discretion.
The info and sites on the tour are adequate. It is similar to a bus tour. We saw the White House, Washington Monument, WWII Memorial, Reflecting Pool, Lincoln Memorial(from afar), Smithsonian and the Capitol. But, the real highlight is the Segway. |
