WHAT A GREAT TIME!

We went to DC and the Segway tours with mixed expectations--primarily because the weather was not all that promising. However, the sun did come out (after a little bit of light drizzle) and we had a fantastic ride. It was definitely over too soon! The guides were great, the Segways were not as challenging as feared and the tour interesting. Definitely a "must-do" activity!

This tour is a great way to get a feel for the city. You see the important sites while having a great time. The tour guides are very knowledgable and enthusiastic about their jobs and make the tour that much better. The segways are a blast, I thought it would take a good portion of the time limit just to learn how to ride one but it was a piece of cake. In fact, my dad and I are thinking about buying 2 in the near future. Overall, this tour is the best one you can take in Washington DC. We had the time of our lives!

A great way to see the city!

I have lived in the DC area my whole life, and have periodically trudged around this fascinating (though VAST) city over the past 19 years, but never have I seen DC like this. The tour took us past numerous landmarks, including both the White House and the Capital, which on foot take an exasperatingly long time to walk between, and gave everyone the opportunity to see more in less time. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the landmarks and were very helpful in answering everyone's questions, as well as in providing interesting commentary about each building. I found that seeing the sights becomes much more meaningful when given a context in which to take them. It was an enjoyable experience even for a native like myself. Additionally, the segways are both a lot of fun and easy to use. They require no physical exertion, which is something I welcomed with open arms; you essentially need only to think about going forward or backward and you begin moving in the desired direction. I would recommend doing an evening or nighttime tour. The summer heat tends to be more bearable later in the day (or else early in the morning), and the buildings are lit up at night which is an added bonus! Highly recommended!

An Outstanding Experience

The whole experience was wonderful! The Segways were surprisingly easy to learn and quickly became so natural that everyone (young and older adults) in our group was zipping along, turning, weaving, spinning, stopping without the slightest inhibition. We were interested in trying it to see if we'd want to bring visitors to the area on such a tour -- absolutely! And even though we live here, the information shared by the guides was mostly new to us and very well presented. We can see how much fun this would be with friends -- might even set up a private group tour. And the evening (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.) time was perfect! Beautiful day, fantastic late afternoon light on the buildings, couldn't have been better. Thanks for a truly memorable (in a really good way) experience.

Everything We Thought It Would Be...And More

The reason for taking the Segway tour centered more around the Segway itself than the actual sightseeing, as our family has resided in the Northern Virginia-DC area for a long time. However, we found both the Segway ride and the tour itself to be lots of fun. The training on the Segway was very well done...the description of what to expect was excellent, the in-store demonstration put most people at ease, and the confidence-building exercises were sufficient before actually going on tour. Once "on the street" it took only a few minutes for the operation of the Segway to become intuitive, and it was entirely possible to enjoy the tour without having to concentrate too much on operation of the device. The big surprise (for me) was the patter of the tour guides. The informative, and at times slightly irreverant banter, was exactly right for people such as those in my familiar group, who are well familiar with the major attractions of the area. However, the historic information might not have been enough for first-time visitors to DC. All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I will highly recommend to visitors, and hope to experience again myself.

Great way to see DC

We were part of a small group that toured Washington with our guide. Not only did we enjoy the sites, the thrill of riding a segway, added to the experience. No way I could have walked that far. The segway is easy to master and a lot of fun to ride. It has such a small turning radius, that even navigating among groups was easy. The 2 hour tour was about all I could have handled. Your feet do get a little tired from standing on the segway, but nothing like my feet would have hurt if we had walked. I would do it again, and would have liked to do it again the next day.

What we liked best about the tour was that we could listen to the tour guide for those items we were most interested, but could wander around within reason along the way. Everybody was doing their own thing, and it was not a problem. Not one person had any trouble getting used to the Segways. In fact, we intend to do this tour the next time friends or relatives come to town - we've done the various museums to death!

Segway tour was awesome

The tour was really fun, once I got used to riding the segway, which didn't take long, I enjoyed riding around and seeing DC without having to walk everywhere. Fun way to see the city- moved at a good pace, could see everything you wanted and got to zoom around when you wanted to. The tour guides were very nice and helped me out a lot when I was a little hesitant on the segway at first. Highly reccomended.
