See The City Tour - A Segway Tour of Washington DC

We took 3 grandchildren who are graduating from high school to visit the area for 5 days. They were really impressed that we did this. The seques are easy for all ages. Everyone loved the lights on the Mall after dark but it was a little bit chilly.

I would recommend it to any and all. Great tour and a lot of fun.

This tour was such fun!! The Segway is easy to use, quiet, and gets you up above the others on the sidewalk. The tour leader explained the use of the Segway, important safety practices and was very patient as I hopped up on the Segway for the first time. Within 5 minutes I was wheeling about like a pro and ready to go ... and I am 61 years old and a bit of a klutz !! After a short practice session in a park across the street from the Segway office we began the trek to the White House and the Capitol Mall area. Our leader was very knowledgeable about the sites in the area and shared many little known facts. We were able to go at top speed (12 mph) on Pennsylvania Avenue. I enjoyed talking to other tourists who wanted to know about the Segway. You definitely get a lot of attention as you travel around. By now the Segway felt like a part of my body......responding instantly and smoothly at turns, and when stopping and starting. I felt completely comfortable on the tour. The Segway even had a little storage area where I was able to put my water bottle and my camera for easy access. There was plenty of time to take pictures and our leader willingly took pictures of me on the Segway. I hated to give up my new "friend" when we returned to the Segway office. I'd recommend this tour to anyone !! Enjoy !!

Thank you for asking my age...if you were here I'd run you over with a borrowed segway! In life it's not the miles, it's the course, and ours is active and fun! Having wanted to ride a Segway ever since we first head about them we had been thwarted at every turn...weather, sold out, late flights... At last a trip to Washington DC provided the opportunity we had waited so long for. It was incredible. Everything we had thought it would be and more. I did feel sorry for the younger couple scheduled with us. We left them in the dust! They kept apologizing for keeping us waiting (like we sat still...we zoomed in circles as we waited). Our guide, Will, was an intelligent college senior with interests similar to ours and we had a blast! We did feel guilty about not paying much attention to his talk though. We were too busy zooming off here and there and handing out flyers to interested onlookers. My husband even took movies as we went! I would have stayed for the next tour and done it again, if it hadn't been sold out. If we didn't live in crowded and not-Segway-friendly Manhattan we'd stiff the kids this Christmas and buy Segways for ourselves...I still might...I'll ride around the kitchen! You should open a franchise in Central Park! (If you do we get rides free for the idea!) In 20 years we'll be using these instead of wheelchairs! Watch your back!

Training was too short. My friend fell twice after going out and had to give up. 15 minutes on the square (before crossing street and tackling ramps) would kave helped.

We toured with the Segway group on Thanksgiving at 1:00. The entire group had 12 people, including a family with 3 young men (late teens/20's). One of the tour guides had injured his hip in a Segway accident earlier in the day, and did nothing but complain about his injury all day. He was in pain, but should either have sought medical attention and left the job, or not complained. His first words to us as we entered the store were about the accident he'd had on his Segway and how he severely injured himself - NOT the words that a customer wants to be greeted with. The group was simply too large and inexperienced. We wasted a full half hour of our time waiting as newbies learned how to use the Segways in the store. The young boys on the tour were terribly misbehaving the entire tour. Neither their parents nor the tour guides reined them in, so we wasted a lot of our time waiting for them to stop fooling around. They had three (minor) accidents of their own during the tour. Another tourist had a serious-looking accident toward the end of the tour, and the previously injured tour guide was clearly more concerned about the hassle this created for him than his was about the fallen tourist. Fortunately for both, no serious damage to person or machine. The tour itself was a disjointed mish-mash of the two tour guides showing off how much history trivia they knew about obscure people and events, and very little about what we were seeing. The tour was cut short (we didn't go to the Capitol Building) because of the above. The entire event was primarily a Segway ride through city streets with very little in the way of "touring" as we had imagined it, with some comment on the buildings and history of the city. One machine threw a rider because of a tire failure, and one of the tour guides had to leave the group to walk it back to the store. The other (injured) tour guide then took us back to the store with no stops for information, sight-seeing, or any courtesies. Very poor treatment of your customers. The major offense was the overly large size of the group. Twelve people, especially one with three delinquent boys and two frustrated guides in it, is simply far too large a group for an enjoyable, productive, worthwhile experience. I will not be back for more.

The Segway Tour of Washington was absolutely the most fun I've ever had on a guided tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. He made the experience a lot of fun. I felt perfectly at ease on the Segway after only a few minutes. I would recommend the tour for anyone who enjoys something a little different than the usual bus tours.

From the friendly greeting upon entering the door, Noah, our tour guide for the group of 10 Segways was a positive and helpful contributor to a full exposure of major city highlights. The safety concerns, trial run on the equipment, and close watch, provided a self-confidence. This allowed time to enjoy the many sidewalk level views knowing the controls. The D.C. Segway tour is highly recommended.

This is a great way to get the lay of the land before returning to the specific sites you wish to visit. First time for me on a Segway and after a short shakedown instruction ride off we went. I chose an early Sunday morning ride which minimized the crowds. Makes you want to get into law enforcement just so you could ride around in one of these all day long. Highly recommend this fun way of getting acquainted with any city that offers Segway tours. The Staff was informative about the area and offered to take as many pictures as you might ever want of yourself on a Segway in front of famous sites. I even bought the DVD "10 MPH - Seattle to Boston".

My husband and I really enjoyed our Segway ride. We had a great staff person. It was only the two of us so we went at a nice pace, saw a lot, and got a lot out of the running commentary, even thought we have lived in the DC area for 14 years. We have recommended Segway tours to many of our friends and hope to go again some time.
