Much more fun than expected

I'd been before, and loved it. I took my partner and his family; no one was as eager as I. Within 20 minutes, the 3 others were just grinning ear-ear, saying "this is SO much better than we thought". I was the highlight of a 4 day vacation in DC for our brother-in-law and wife. Now, my partner wants to go again... Only request: we'd love to have an option for kids, that would open up a lot more people for us to do this with.

Not very informative, but fun.

I'm glad we took this tour. Riding the segway was a great experience, although more tiring than I anticipated - especially on the feet! I'm very glad we didn't sign up for the longer tour with another company. The guides only provide a few comments at each stop, but they were interesting. We cruised around the city enough so that later when we returned on foot, we knew where we were.

Anniversary Gift

My nephew and his wife, from Oklahoma, came to Washington, D.C. for a visit. I reserved a segway tour for them as an anniversary gift. They loved it! My nephew said that this was an activity he would see other people do but never thought he would actually be the one doing it! Their evening segway tour was the highlight of their trip.

IN TOWN FOR DAUGHTERS WEDDING. TOOK SON AND FRIENDS ON THE TOUR FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT. BEEN TO DC MANY TIMES, SO MORE THE THRILL OF THE SEGWAY THAN THE LOCATION. BUT THE COMBINATION IS GREAT. GOOD TOUR GUIDES, INSTRUCTIVE, INFORMATIVE. ENJOYED IT THOROUGHLY. GAVE GIFT CERTIFICATES TO OTHERS TO ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE. WOULD SUGGEST IT TO ANYONE. STEVE AND SUE

Overall very good tour, with small glitches

I was very impressed with the tour company. They had new Segways, and didn't limit the speed like some companies do. Helmets were new, and the office was adequate for initial training to get comfortable on the machine. The guide/instructor was generally good at first. I felt good about riding in the local area, and she pointed out the sites with good knowledge and speaking ability. My complaint was when a gentleman in our group hit a chain support pole because he wasn't looking where he was going. It was completely his fault, which he acknowledged, but because he may have been injured, the tour was delayed. That was no problem--we wanted to be sure he was okay. However, the guide looked like she was completely in shock and didn't take any action. She asked if he was okay, but essentially stood there and looked at him until a Park Policeman came up and called an ambulance. Then we stood/rode around for about 45 minutes until another person from the shop could come get us. Since we had time to kill, we wanted to ride around the local area, but she said it wasn't allowed. My gut feeling was she just didn't want to lose control of her group. If that's the case, tell us, but don't get frantic and start saying things are ALL off limits when they're really not. Suggestions: 1. Guides should be proactive. Call the ambulance, and let them determine if the person is hurt. 2. Sometimes things are scheduled tightly. Allow those people who need to leave to get back to the shop when they have to. As it was, we were late because we had to wait for someone to get us back, even though we knew where we were and where we had to go. 3. Provide maps of the proposed tour route. Then if something happens and people need to head back before the end of the tour, they can follow the map. 4. If you let us know ahead of time that certain things are not allowed (like riding on the Mall), we won't be surprised when you throw that at us when something unusual happens. In fact, a very quick overview of the actual tour would be nice...nothing detailed, but a slide with an overhead view, which contains the unusual items, would only take a minute or two, but would minimize surprises. *The company should be able to allow this with proper liability releases and positive ID checks if they're worried about theft, etc.

Unique and fun experience

I have toured DC many times but using the SEGWAY was definitely a unique and interesting way to do it a little differently. In a realtively short span of time you get a real overview of the main attractions, and from the comfort of the SEGWAY, you get to enjoy a more leisurely trip. Riding the SEGWAY in of itself is a great expereice too. Age and physical condition are not limitations on the experience. The sort orientation makes you comfortable enough with the SEGWAY so that I had no concerns during the entire trip.

My husband, a girlfriend and I participated in this totally fun way to tour DC. We did the night tour and had a wonderful time. It's like combining a fun ride at 7 Flags with an informative tourist tour. Segways rock!!

Comments and Suggestions

The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The length of time of the tour (two hours) was just about perfect because, candidly, our feet got tired. (We are two old guys!) Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience. The two of us were in a large group, 16 I believe, and at times we got all strung out and some of us missed some of the narration at the stops. Suggestions: 1) Break up the large groups in to two smaller ones leaving five minutes, or so, apart. 2) It would be nice if you could find a way to let everyone get off their Segways and walk around or sit for five minutes near the middle of the tour. Finally, 3) I am a tour guide for the Voice of America (VOA) at 4th and Independence, SW. I would appreciate it if you would point out the VOA and give our VOA tours a plug. The cost is FREE and the tours are at 12:15 pm and 3:15 pm every business day. (No tours on the weekend or on federal holidays.) Thanks, Al

Just DO it!

My husband and I (both boomers) were the oldest on the tour, but we probably had the most fun! It was SO much fun that I was handing out flyers to pedestrians, and have already suggested your Segway tour to a friend heading to D.C. this week.

Easier Than I Expected

Although I knew the segways were relatively easy, I was still a bit anxious about learning to ride. I didn't imagine that it would be so easy. As a 50'something woman with a bad back, I had no problems! We enjoyed the evening tour, but probably wouldn't do it again. Trying to watch where you're going (some places aren't lit all that great), constantly adjusting your vision, at a fairly quick pace, is rather distracting. I was grateful that I had already seen most of the sites. Next time, we'll do the daytime tour, and probably the longer one (3-4 hours), if they're not so rushed. Still, a great time! Highly recommended.
