The Segway is so much fun to drive!

The tour around DC was really fun; our tour guide was nice. Being a local, I would have been fine not covering so much ground around the city--I would have been just as happy going to a few open areas and just jet around on the Segway.

A great way to move around a city

I loved the tour - using the segway alone was a fantastic experience in itself and doing it in DC made it more enjoyable. The commentary was not that excellent though, the first half was made more interesting by the tour guide's humour. The tour was supposed to be 2 hours, but it was actually only an hour and 15 mins, as half an hour was devoted to practising and we came back quarter of an hour earlier. If it weren't for the fact that it was fun using a segway, I would not recommend this tour to anyone.

A "Bucket List" Experience!!!
Fri, May 29  9:30 AM mcneicet Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My sister and our two husbands had an absolute blast! This was definitely a highlight of our trip to DC and would advise even the timid to go for it! We all quickly got the hang of it and wished we didn't have to give them back when the tour finished! This tour is an outside viewing tour, not an indoor tour of any monuments or musuems you pass by, but that's the fun in it - riding!!!! And there was always a guide at the lead and another at the rear of the group to assist in any way. A big plus is that each bike has a zippered pouch on the handle bar to store your purse, camera, or other item - very convenient! Give your feet a break - it sure beats walking DC! Make it a 'Bucket List' experience - a must do on your trip to DC!

Capital Segway Tour

Wow, what a blast! I have been on a segway before a couple of years ago, so I knew how much fun they were already, but that was just a two hour rental, not a tour. This was SO MUCH MORE! A tour with informative and fun guides, and a great way to have fun! My guy had never done it before, and now he praises it to high heaven. DC is a perfect city to segway in, and Capital Segway is the perfect segway experience. The guides were terrific! Learned some new things and they would take us some places that we could really open up the throttle (as much as a segway can, about 12 mph but feels fast) if we wanted to. and I always did when given the cance. There were people from age 20 - 70's in our group, and all had a great time.

Perfect way to overview the Capital Hill area
Thu, May 28  9:30 AM DougMeeking Male 60-69 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The Segway is a safe and fun 21st Century solution to providing a quick reconnaisance of the Capital Hill and Mall area - especially for a tourist who is only vaguely familiar with the locations of all the museums, memorials and other sites. The Segway is easy to learn to operate and provides the needed mobility to travel on sidewalks and other places not possible for larger vehicles. We travelled several miles in our 2 hour tour and few could walk that distance in a day. The useful information provided by our courteous and helpful guide, Noah, enabled us to set priorities as to which sites we would subsequently visit on our own. I highly recommend the Segway tour: it is fun, informative and worth every cent of the modest cost.

Really Fun!

My husband and I did this segway tour. We were less interested in the sights and more interested in just riding those segways! They are a blast. Our original 9 am tour was cancelled for an unknown reason. We received a voicemail asking us if we could come at 2 pm instead. We called and left a message that 2 pm was fine. When we arrived, there was no 2 pm tour and could we please come back at 4. Sort of screwed up our day, a discount should probably have been offered in our opinion.

The only way to see the National Mall
Wed, May 27  4:00 PM eject09 Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This is a fun way to get around the east end of Washington DC's National Mall; it's too bad that the Segway's aren't allowed west of the Washington Monument. The two guides pointed out things on the tour that we would have missed on our own. The safety video and short training session get you ready for the ride as well as pointing out what situations to avoid. As one of the guides put it, the hardest thing about beginning to ride a Segway is trusting the equipment. The first step up onto it and finding that it does balance was the only hard part. I found it to be a lot like skiing in the way you control the Segway. Don't pass up this opportunity when visiting DC.

Loved the Segway Tour
Wed, May 27  1:00 PM amyseibert Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I thoroughly enjoyed the Segway tour of DC - I just got in town 2 hours before and thought this was a great way to get an overview of the city and provide a quick way to decide what else I should do with my couple of days. The guide was knowledgeable of the city and gave some great personal recommendations. The Segway was great fun! I want to buy one now. The only reason I didn't give this the highest recommendation was that the headsets were not working that day. It would have been great to hear comments from the guide as we rode along.

Fun fun fun til Daddy takes the Segway away!

It's all about the Segway. Yes, you'll cover a lot of territory in a short amount of time. For a tourist with a time crunch, this can be a lifesaver. Let's face it, Washington DC is a big city, and walking here is a lovely way to spend a day. But if you really want to get the Cliffs Notes version, take this tour. You'll get a (brief) overview of places you might want to come back to see in depth later. You'll hear some tidbits of information you most likely won't hear anywhere else. You'll leave knowing why the Washington Monument is two colors, and how to tell if the President is in. The real reason to take this tour is the Segway! Of course I was as nervous as a bride on her wedding night. But the guides were kind and did not once laugh at me as I wobbled around the room on my first tries to manage the machine. And within minutes, I was not wobbling, but flowing! Graceful turns and sweeping floats across the room. Once the door was opened and we were to make our debut to the public, I took a mighty gulp, and out I ventured. Can I manage the slight dip down the curb ramp and across the street? No problem. Can I really swoop around the park without getting yelled at? Yes, I can. This begins to feel so natural! And off we went on our tour. They really do not limit how fast you can go. I'm not sure if I topped out on speed, since the "stick" leaned back in to me so mildly that I may have imagined it. But my poncho was flowing behind me like a superhero's cape. I never have skied, but slaloming in and out of trees was (in my imagination, at least) a fair approximation. I can't wait until I get to do this again.

Awesome tour

While it wasn't the most comprehensive or fact-filled tour, it was a blast and the tour guides were great. First getting on the Segway was a little nerve wracking but after a couple minutes we got the hang of it and by the end of the tour none of us wanted to give ours up.
