This is an incredible combination to sightsee the beautiful DC downtown area, while experiencing a fantastic ride aboard one of the most unique and advanced personal mobility vehicles available in the world. The ride itself, even without such a beautiful city tour is worth it. To do it in the streets of Washington, just a magnificent life experience.
Anyone would be intimidated by the technology (some in our Group were to the point of almost cancelling). However, the (very professional and easy going) staff of Capital Segway were a deciding factor in patiently going through the mandatory training video and hands on demonstration. It made a difference.
At the end, we all got comfortable within the shop and in the sidewalk; Starting the tour in a nearby park is a clever way to get tourists familiar with the vehicle and build confidence. Once you are on the streets and get settled and confident...the sky is the limit !!!!. I can not replicate in words the elation and the fun of almost "walking on air".
Believe me.... it is EASY and you will eventually control it (within 5 minutes) and then, there is no end in the fun.
ENJOY THE RIDE...!!! |

I live not too far from DC and know quite a bit about it. However, I have never seen DC like this and I can't describe how great the experience was. Segwaying is easier than I thought, the guides were terific and I learned a few things I did not already know. I would recommed to anyone....especially long time DC residents. You don't konw what you have missed! |

The segways provided a great saving of time and energy in getting an overview of the sights of DC. The tour guides were helpful and informative. The tour gave us a chance to identify locations and activities that we could concentrate on at another time. The segways were great fun! |

One of the best experiences in my life... and I've been lucky to travel almost all over the world. You have the perfect way to me to combine educational and fun activities in a simple package. And KUDOS to the excellent guides we had. |

My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. If you only have a day or two in DC this is a great way to get a look at all the major sights. It's going to be mostly about the ride for everyone else. Segways rule. |

I will try to keep this somewhat short. However, this was a lot of fun. My wife and I choose to try the Segway tours due to some back issues that I have had in the past. The Segway really provided a chance for us to see everything we wanted to. After completing the tour I have to say that this was absolutely amazing! Our Tour Guide was a lot of fun, explaining a lot of interesting information, while fitting in a little humor along the way. My wife and I were able to take a ton of pictures, and our Guide was helpful and willing to take any pictures and answer any questions. Our Guide showed a true interest in making sure that we had an excellent experience. If you are questioning whether or not to take this tour, please do yourself the favor and do it! We will do this again when we go back to the area. Thanks for the fun! |

Had always wanted to try a Segway and now I want my own! The tour guide was very informative and knew his stuff, but the highlight was riding around town and having other tourists take our picture! |

Very good, couple of things to make it better

First of all I was hesitant to do this because of the price. Afterward, I would shout from the rooftops to make people go. It was fun, well organized and just the best 2 hours of my 4 days in Washignton.
That being said, there are a couple of things you could do to make it even more fun and memorable. First, take a tip from the Duck Tours and get some Segway whistles made you can give away. The one thing that was annoying was silently buzzing by pedestrians or being stopped by them. Several people in my group commented that the Segway should have a bike bell on it. We went one step further and said they should have whistles like the duck tours have to blow at people to move. It would also make a nice souvenir of the trip, is somethign pedestrians respond to more than "RIGHT" and should not cost much.
Second, during the rest break, letting people have a little time to get a drink would be nice. I know you have to get a lot of sights in but by the end our entire group was just starving for a drink even tho our day was really nice for the tour. You don;t realize how hot it is when you are driving and it sneaks up on you when you stop.
Third, offer more gift shop options for purchase than just one t-shirt. I would have bought a shirt, a mug, or something else that had Capital Segway on it if I had a choice. The red shirt was nice but just a little too promotional. A black t-shirt with the Segway logo and your phone number would have been nice. Or a coffee mug. Or a tumbler you could take with you on the tour with water.
Finally, the tours should be an opportunity to turn Segway riders into Segway owners. Have a take away sheet with a list of Segway Dealers and other tours across the country so this doesn't turn into a one off experience. Ideally, offer a discount on a Segway purchase that refunds the user their tour fee. $70 off a $5400 piece of machinery is tiny but something that the person on the tour doesn't know when they see they could get their tour fee back.
Hopefully this helps and feel free to contact me for more info and ideas. It really was a wonderful time. |

I highly recommend doing this tour. Knowledgable and humerous instructor / guide. Wear a pair of comfortable shoes though ... after all you will be standing for 2+ hours. Also, if you plan to take any pictures bring along a compact digital camera ... I found having to take out and then repack my digital SLR (with a very heavy zoom lens) an inconvenience. My only regret is putting off doing the tour until my 2nd last day in Washington. If I could I would have done the tour again. Take the tour .... it will be a blast! |
