Outstanding---The Highlight of our Days in DC
Thu, Jul 2, 09   7:00 PM clmukherjee Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My wife and I are in our fifties and were given this tour of DC by our children as a gift. Both she and I were somewhat apprehensive about our ability to operate the Segways without killing ourselves or destroying something. As it turned out, our fears were completely unfounded. After a short amount of training, we were both very comfortable with their operation---even to the point of speeding around at a couple of spots where we stopped. I had seen most of the places we toured before but found the tour and views excellent. Our tour leader was patient, relaxed and made the trip fun. The highlight was operating the Segways though! Both of us absolutely loved them! I would certainly recommend this to anyone/everyone! It was the most fun we had in the days we spent in DC.

Great tour, slightly irritated with change of time

The 2 hour tour is great, we arrived that morning on a red-eye and it was an easy way to get your bearings when first arriving in town. The tour guides were excellent (I think one was Mark, but cant remember the other one's name who was actually a bit better). The tour does not include war memorials, but those are better to see on foot anyway. The headsets they give you are a huge advantage, and I would not take any segway tour that does not use them. The only negative with Capital was that they called us 24 hours before our tour to let us know that the tour time was switched from 2:00 to 3:00. I was slightly irritated and we had to change some plans around, but I figured they didn't have enough people for the 2:00 tour. Once we arrived I found out that they somehow overbooked the 2:00 tour and bumped us to the 3:00 tour. They need to improve upon their reservation system to avoid this. There is a reason people reserve for a specific time and they should honor that or make some type of offer for changing it.

Only one of us had ever been on a segway - our guide was thorough in his instrcution and in a few minutes we were off! What an awesome way to see an overview of the city in just a couple of hours. We'll be looking for segway tours whenever we go to a new city.

You should do it! Highly recommended!

I recommend the 9:30 tour as most museums on the route (around the mall) aren't open yet so the pedestrian traffic on sidewalks is minimized. No one else had signed up for my morning tour so it was just me and my Segway guide. Since I was already quite familiar with the sites, I was able to focus my attention on having fun with my Segway. Nonetheless, my guide did provide good info at each of the highlighted sites along with interesting "tidbits" about the sites I had not heard before. On Segway training: You'll spend a few minutes in the 'store' getting a preliminary feel for the segway==getting on, off, turning, stopping (after seeing a short general safety video on the Segway). Then it's off to the park right across the street to really get the hang of it. In my case, I'd say in about 10-15 minutes we were ready to hit the roads (sidewalks). I found the Segway to be quite stable in the same sense that I bike feels stable as soon as you learn to ride and get the hang of how it handles. I found that it was quite maneuverable and stopped quickly when needed as we crossed streets, weaved through pedestrians on sidewalks, etc. After about 30 more minutes I felt very comfortable with any maneuvers and full speed. The segway has plenty of power and accellerates rapidly when called for (I weigh 205 lb).

Safe, entertaining, pleasant, unforgettable ride. Perfect to take pictures in a short time. Great couple of hours. I'll do it again if I go back. Totally recommended, no doubt about it. If I did it you can too.

I was really nervous about riding these - and it took me awhile to get used to it - but for someone who literally can't ride a bicycle these things are pretty intuitive. Our tour guide was great, kept the group together and was really knowledgeable. It helped that it was a beautiful day - but it was a great afternoon.

This was an anniversary gift to my sister and her husband. There were 6 of us in our party. 3 had segwayed before, 3 had not. Four in our party were over 50 years of age. Two people were very anxious about trying this activity, but after a little trepidation, they enjoyed the experience immensely, even wanting to buy (just kidding) one to take home. Our tour guide, Aaron, was knowledgeable and very congenial. He was patient with the new people, and he took pictures for our group and with our group. This is an excellent way to get a birds' eye look at DC for tourists or for those who just want a new experience. They give you good instruction and ample time to practice before hitting the streets. No matter how many times I do this, I always enjoy the segway experience. Thanks Aaron! Thanks Capital Segway!

Much more fun than expected

I'd been before, and loved it. I took my partner and his family; no one was as eager as I. Within 20 minutes, the 3 others were just grinning ear-ear, saying "this is SO much better than we thought". I was the highlight of a 4 day vacation in DC for our brother-in-law and wife. Now, my partner wants to go again... Only request: we'd love to have an option for kids, that would open up a lot more people for us to do this with.

The Segway tour of D.C. was SO much fun. Both of our guides were very good but I loved Noah. He really was good at helping everyone - even when he wasn't close! It's a great way to see a lot of sights quickly and without walking. I would highly recommend it.

-Both guides we had Karen and Scott were fabulous! They took the time to explain and answer all questions. Even the explanation of the segway from Karen was simple and easy to not only understand but the actual use of it. I would recommend them highly! The only problem with the tour was it needed to be just a little longer for the price. -There was some man at the main desk when we returned from our tour who was the only one that was not friendly, maybe an owner or manager, but not friendly! NOT the gentleman that was there when we first got there. -Also a better place to keep our stuff then some closet. It does not say anywhere that you should not bring a purse or personal items, especially if you are out sightseeing. The brochures that were in our pack in front of the segway, I needed to have more, because I was handing them out because of all the people on the street coming up to us asking questions Even booking the trip we spoke to Cynthia at your corporate office and she was very helpful and courteous! Otherwise the best ever! It made our trip to DC! Christine and Carrie

Loved the Capital Segway Tour!

What a perfect way to tour DC. Our guides provided an excellent, in-store training sessions to use the Segways before we embarked on the 2 hour tour. The introduction to the Segway enabled all 11 of our group to safely ride in the sidewalks and bike lanes of the city. The tour was delivered through our headsets. The two guides were informative, funny, and kept a close watch for our safety. We will definitely book another tour with Capital Segway. Five star rating.

What a great (and incredibly fun) way to see the sights. It was well worth the price. We paid a little more for a 'private' tour (just the four of us), and I'm really glad we did. I'm not sure if I would have like being part of a larger group as much. It is something I definitely would do again, the next time we visit.

The guides were great, in particular one who had great knowledge of the surrounding landmarks and buildings. If you have limited time in DC and want to explore the Mall etc this is the perfect way. The segways are easy to use too if you can leave your brain at home and just let it all happen naturally. I found myself looking to see if there were segway tours of other cities we visited on our trip. So much fun.
