zipping through DC on a Segway was cool!

| We wanted to do something with our 17 year old son because he did not come to see much of DC with us and our 8 and 12 year old daughters. We thought the Segway tour at night was a great way to see DC at night - which we were told was a must do - and something a little more interesting for a teenager. It was perfect. Although we zipped right by a few places, it didn't matter because this was the last thing we did in DC. Wouldn't recommend doing a Segway at night when you first get there because you'd want to stop and look more than you're really able. The tour guide was very knowledgable and made it fun. I don't think you'd be able to zip around like we did if it was daytime, so that was an added thrill. I'll be looking for Segway tours for my next vacation. | ||||||

Very good, couple of things to make it better

| First of all I was hesitant to do this because of the price. Afterward, I would shout from the rooftops to make people go. It was fun, well organized and just the best 2 hours of my 4 days in Washignton. That being said, there are a couple of things you could do to make it even more fun and memorable. First, take a tip from the Duck Tours and get some Segway whistles made you can give away. The one thing that was annoying was silently buzzing by pedestrians or being stopped by them. Several people in my group commented that the Segway should have a bike bell on it. We went one step further and said they should have whistles like the duck tours have to blow at people to move. It would also make a nice souvenir of the trip, is somethign pedestrians respond to more than "RIGHT" and should not cost much. Second, during the rest break, letting people have a little time to get a drink would be nice. I know you have to get a lot of sights in but by the end our entire group was just starving for a drink even tho our day was really nice for the tour. You don;t realize how hot it is when you are driving and it sneaks up on you when you stop. Third, offer more gift shop options for purchase than just one t-shirt. I would have bought a shirt, a mug, or something else that had Capital Segway on it if I had a choice. The red shirt was nice but just a little too promotional. A black t-shirt with the Segway logo and your phone number would have been nice. Or a coffee mug. Or a tumbler you could take with you on the tour with water. Finally, the tours should be an opportunity to turn Segway riders into Segway owners. Have a take away sheet with a list of Segway Dealers and other tours across the country so this doesn't turn into a one off experience. Ideally, offer a discount on a Segway purchase that refunds the user their tour fee. $70 off a $5400 piece of machinery is tiny but something that the person on the tour doesn't know when they see they could get their tour fee back. Hopefully this helps and feel free to contact me for more info and ideas. It really was a wonderful time. | ||||||

| We were so excited to go on this Segway tour and believe me, we were not disappointed. It was well organized and the Segways were new and well maintained. The tourguides were knowledgable and informative. They were very helpful in getting us settled and comfortable on the Segways as well. It just was such a great event - we would highly recommend this tour to anyone! | ||||||

| The segway was easy to operate and a whole lot more fun than walking, allowed you to see much more than you could see walking and pick out special places to visit and spend more time at. Guide was helpful and informative. | ||||||

| We loved this tour and our tour guide, Will. It was just the right amount of time (2 hours). Anything longer we would have gotten a bit tired and anything shorter would have left us wanting more. Keep in mind that if you are older or out of shape, this tour will tire you because you are standing and working your calf muscles for 2 straight hours. My wife was surprised and even a little taken aback when I told her I booked this tour, but by the end she was a complete fan and I was a hero for booking this totally cool, completely different type of tour. Will was very good about providing real historical details along our tour and he was always ready to take a photograph (good ones too!) if you wanted. I suggest you bring some water or grab a bottle of water in their office (they had a couple boxes sitting in the office, but they never offered it to any of the guests which was a bit strange). | ||||||

| This was my first time riding a segway. It was so much fun! It was easy to learn how to maneuver the segway even on the crowded streets and sidewalks. Our guide did a great job of making sure we were safe and confident. She also was very knowledgeable about the area. She shared many facts and stories- very interesting. I couldn't believe how much we were able to view in the two hours. There was time for a break and time for "free wheeling" at the end. I would recommend this activity to anyone visiting Washington. It was well worth the money. | ||||||

| We had a fun and knowledgeable guide, learning to ride was quite easy, and Karen took it slow until we felt ready to really roll. The tour gets you as close as walking without the long walk. I plan on doing this again the next time I am in DC, even though I would be seeing the same places again. The Segway is totally awesome. | ||||||

| We all had a great time on the segway tour of D.C. We saw more places than we would have walking and had more time for seeing the sites than we would have on a bus. It's definitely the way to tour D.C.! We plan to do it again next time we visit. | ||||||

| We had a lot of fun. Our tour guide Wil was excellent! A ton of great info and not boring. Remember to focus on the sites & not just how much fun the Segway is to truly allow you to enjoy your tour. It rained during our tour, however w/ ponchoes we still enjoyed it all! | ||||||

| I live in DC and am transitioning to grad school, so I had some time off. This was a fun way to learn details about the city I had been living in. I learned a ton of stuff I never knew and it was all in my back yard. Not to mention it was really fun using the Segways to navigate through the city. | ||||||

THE way to find what you want to tour later!

| At first I didn't think this would be so much fun! I learned to ride the Segway in just five minutes. The next two hours were great fun and educational as the guide was very knowledgeable. We went by all of the "must see" places and made mental notes of what we wished to see more of later. After the initial few minutes I felt totally in control and really enjoyed traveling the sidewalks, negotiating the barriers, and swooping in and out of the trees planted there. DO THIS! I want one now! | ||||||

| My 16 year-old son and I purchased a Segway tour at his pleading. I was nervous about controlling it and standing on one for that long. After 15 minutes and some "playtime" in the park across the street - I was good to go. My biggest surpises were the amount of ground the tour covered, and having a radio headset to hear the guide. Our guide was Noah and he led sometimes, followed at intersection crossings, and provided alot of information too. About half-way through we took a stretch break that helped me out. The group was 7 people, so it was quite easy to navigate the heavy pedestrian traffic on some sidewalks. My son really got a kick out of the Segway itself, probably more than seeing all the sights. Our tour ended too soon, but we would do it again in a minute. Best Thing: Driving the Segway is intuitive and you really can't appreciate the agility till you drive one. Worst Thing: We walked around DC for 5 days before this, so my feet hurt pretty bad. I had to get off and stretch a couple of times. Suggestions: 1-Plan ahead and reserve your tour a week ahead of time, we almost missed out. 2-Do this tour the first day in DC, the route might help you get your bearings and your feet won't hurt like mine did... 3-Zerve needs to add in their directions that Capital Segway is across from the 14th & I Metro Station about 1/2 block down I ("eye") street. We loved it. Greg Conway, Arkansas | ||||||
