Description

Join us on a walking food tour, the first of it's kind in Cape Cod!  Your Hungry in Hyannis Food Tour will begin at the West End of Hyannis' Main Street. From there, your guide will take you to explore and sample some of the freshest, tastiest food the Cape has to offer.

Walk and taste your way through the historic and scenic streets of Hyannis, from the beautiful Waterfront to the iconic East End.

The food you will sample along the way may include:
  • "Rodizio" style BBQ served by Gauchos
  • Organic omelets prepared with local produce
  • Authentically Italian-made gelato with local flavors such as Cape Cod Wild Beach Plum
  • Traditional Neopolitan pizza baked in an authentic Italian wood-fired oven
  • Award winning clam chowder
  • "Subtly sweet curiously salty" cookies served along the Inauguration route in 2008
Dress comfortably and wear walking shoes as during this tour we walk 1.8 miles over a 2.5-3 hour period. Our route takes you past the former Teachers' College, down the block known as "Captain's Row" and across the Kennedy Legacy trail to the picturesque waterfront.

Your ticket covers the cost of all food tastings, which are often enough to serve as a satisfying lunch! Keep in mind, tasting locations are subject to change.

Come discover the many sights and flavors that have been drawing visitors to Hyannis for years!

What Is Not Included?

  • Drinks are not provided along the tour, so feel free to bring along a water bottle if you would like to.

FAQs

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, tickets must be purchased in advance. Tours often sell out so we suggest purchasing your tickets early to guarantee your desired tour day. You can buy your tickets either online or by phone with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
What happens if it rains?
The tour runs regardless of weather. Please dress according to the forecast.
How much food is served?
We will have tastings at 6 locations. Generally these tastings are sufficient to cover lunch.
How much walking and standing is involved?
The tour covers approximately 1.8 miles on paved streets and paths over a 2.5-3 hour period, and guests will be standing for most of that time. Therefore we do recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. However, keep in mind that we walk at a relaxed pace and stop frequently, including the approximately 15-20 minutes we will spend at each of the designated tasting spots.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies? Are there vegetarian options on the tour?
We can usually accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies with sufficient notice. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions in the designated field when booking.
Can children participate in the tour?
While children are welcome on the tour, please keep in mind that tours are 2.5-3 hours long and cover approximately 1.8 miles. Some children have a limited attention span and the tour may not be appropriate for them. You know your child best though, so please consider whether or not the tour is appropriate for your child before booking. All children 5 years of age and older are required to have a ticket, but children 4 years old and younger may attend for free if they will not be participating in the food tasting. Please let us know if you will be bringing your children when purchasing your tickets.
Do we only walk around and sample food?
This tour not only showcases the delicacies of Hyannis, but it also offers the insider scoop on local life! Learn about the history, architecture and culture of the Cape as you walk its splendid streets. We will also highlight local shops and restaurants that you can return to after the tour to enjoy at your leisure.
Are bathrooms available along the tour route?
Yes, restrooms are available at a few restaurant stops along the way. There is also a bathroom at the starting location which we suggest visiting before the tour begins.
Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Since there are some steps included along the tour route, we do not recommend the tours for those with wheelchairs or strollers.
Are cameras allowed?
Yes! There is so much to see during the tour and it would be absolutely worth it to bring a camera.
Does the tour end at the meeting location?
The tour ends about a 15 minute walk away from the meeting location. Your tour guide will be more than happy to give directions back to the starting location or in whichever direction you need to get to your next destination.
Do your tours have anything to offer a local?
Absolutely! Whether you are looking for a way to entertain out-of-town guests, plan a bachelorette party, conduct a team-building exercise or just learn more about the wonderful Cape you live on, this is the tour for you! You’ll be surprised how much there is to learn on the tour.
Is there parking available near the meeting location?
There are 2 free parking lots within a 4 block radius of the meeting location and street parking is available but limited. Please read all signs when looking for street parking to avoid getting ticketed. Specific parking details will be included in the meeting location directions after purchasing tickets.
Are gratuities included in the ticket price? Does the tour guide accept gratuities?
Gratuities are not included in the ticket price. While not required, gratuities are accepted and appreciated by the tour guides (15% is standard for a job well done).
Are tours only offered in English?
Yes, at the moment we can only offer tours in English, but you are more than welcome to arrange for an interpreter. If they will not be participating in the tastings, they do not need a ticket.
Can I shop during the tour?
While we will be pointing out some local hotspots and shops, we ask that you refrain from shopping during the tour. It is important that we stay on time so our food vendors know what to expect and when to prepare your tastings.
Are dogs/pets allowed on the tour?
Since we will be entering various food establishments, and as a courtesy to the other guests on the tour, all pets, with the exception of trained service dogs, are prohibited on the tour.
Is smoking allowed on the tour?
No smoking is allowed in the tour group. If you need to smoke during the tour, please separate yourself from the group as to not disturb other guests and catch up with the group when you have finished.
Are gift certificates available?
Gift certificates are available, and they make a great gift for any occasion! If you are interested in purchasing a gift certificate, please contact us by clicking on the "Contact CapeCodTours" link to the left of the page.
Can I book a private tour?

About

Cape Cod Foodie Tours

Welcome to Cape Cod Foodie Tours, the first walking tour of its kind on Cape Cod!

Cape Cod Foodie Tours was born to support and showcase small owner operated businesses while answering that age old question - "where should we eat?" Our years as Cape Cod food-scene insiders allow us to not only give a great glimpse into the best eats in the area, but also to share some of the history and culture that help make the Cape such a special place.

Barnstable's seacoast village of Hyannis boasts over 40 owner-operated restaurants and food related businesses. Celebrating its 375th birthday in 2014, Hyannis' Main Street and waterfront hold many interesting tales - from sea captains to Kennedys!

Our goal is to have you experience a broad sampling of freshly prepared foods as you walk the historic and scenic streets of Hyannis. You will enjoy a variety of different foods along the way, including barbecue from Cape Cod's first churrascaria, pizza from a 6000 lb., wood-fired oven built in Naples, Italy from Vesuvian rock and ash, and much more!

Join us and discover Cape Cod's many culinary delights!
