Pleasant way to learn more about Carmel

Overall it was a nice experience. This is my third food tour (also did one in SF and in Boulder) . What they did well included the two places (one restaurant and one wine bar) where the chef and then an owner came and spoke to us. While our guide did a very good job of explaining things at the other locations...it is not the same as when the main person shares their passion. It was nice to go through all of the little charming alleyways in order to get to our next destination. You see a part of Carmel you don't normally enjoy. And the food at the locations was very tasty, according to my friends who eat gluten. On the list to improve? It is not a good tour if you are gluten free. I inquired ahead of time and was assured that they were gluten free friendly, but it is not well co-ordinated and needs more attention. the first location, they forgot about me, and brought my dish when everyone else was close to being done. greens, prosciutto, cheese. Good ingredients, not really interesting. Another place we had salami's including prosciutto, and at the restaurant where the chef spoke to us, i had another plate of prosciutto, cheese and a few fresh cherries/apricot slices. Again nice ingredients, but it all left me feeling like i had eaten ham most of the day . I would call them gluten free tolerant. Not friendly. On the other two tours I have done in the past, i was provided interesting food just like everyone else. In reality, is not difficult to cook gluten free food that is every bit as delicious as non gluten free . When everyone else had gluten free pizza with all of these wonderful toppings...you could have had one gluten free crust with some of each topping on four quadrants of the pizza. I would recommend either finding chefs that understand this, and then co-ordinate so someone doesn't eat a lot of the same thing during the tour.

I highly recommend this tour for an insider view of Carmel. Our host went beyond food topics and shared back passage ways, and insider info about the town of Carmel making her tours unique, interesting and very personable. This tour is worth the trip!

Wonderful way to discover some of Carmel's best s
Sun, May 19  11:00 AM barbara310 Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
I actually wrote the wrong date down for our tour. We were en route to Carmel by car when Debbie called to say they were going to go ahead and start, since we were late. I kept in touch with her via cell phone as we raced to get there, and we were able to join the group in progress. We had only missed 2 places. We had a wonderful time and learned so much, even though we had stayed in Carmel before. Debbie was so charming and gracious and answered all my questions. She would go find out an answer if she didn't know. We had great food, and the owners were very attentive to us. My date and I returned to most of the places after the tour and ate or bought their products. The tour is priced very reasonably and greatly enhanced our Carmel experience!

I have done the Santa Cruz Food Tour which I thought was exceptional. This tour, was good also. I would include a bit more substantial food items for the price. I know it is a "tasting". Perhaps add another educational component to the tour -- hit one gallery with a learning experience of some style of painting.

My Mother and I toured with a young Canadian couple. Debbie, our Tour Guide, was wonderful. She had a great personality and was extremely informative. We learned so much we didn't know about Carmel and have lived locally for more than 30 years. We plan to do this tour again with a group of our girlfriends. Everyone and everywhere we went, folks were friendly, accommodating and informative. Foods and wines were fantastic. Great time and a such an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon of family and friends in the quaint city of Carmel. We'll be back!

Our guide was a lovely, knowledgeable, entertaining intro to the finest of Carmel-By-The-Sea cuisine, wine, and other delectable food items. It was an intimate look behind the scenes of the unique, classy shops as understood by a true sophisticated local. The pride with which the merchants offered a sample of their wares was evident, and their desire to please us as tourists and consumers was appreciated. Recommend this tour to anyone enchanted by the unmistakable Carmel experience - it will not disappoint.

I recommend this to anyone who has the opportunity to visit Carmel. My girlfriend and I were treated to a great day. I had lived in the area years prior and never experienced Carmel in this way. My girlfriend was visiting from San Diego and was new to the area. She and I were thoroughly impressed. The local participating businesses all seemed to really enjoy being a part of the tour and sharing their craft with us. Our guide was highly knowledgable and enthusiastic too. The planning of the path was perfect. I could really write all day about the experience but I'll just end by saying if you're here considering the trip- just go ahead and sign up!

Great for couples. I've live in the bay area for a long time and have visited Carmel many times (day trips), but I've never stayed over night. This tour is a good intro to Carmel the city. Lots of good eats and a bit of history. Deb the tour guide is amazingly friendly.

Everyone should do this tour on their first day in Carmel, it is historical and delicious! We were able to taste delicacies of all types and learn about sustainable food processes. The food was delicious and Debbie our guide was incredible. I want to go back to all the restaurants we went to.

The tour couldn't have been nicer. Stacey does a terrific presentation and the pace was perfect. All of the stops were nicely spaced and the time spent at each stop was just right. All of the food provided was just the right portion size and the environment at each stop fit the bill. I am happy to recommend the tour to any visitors to the area and feel confident that they would enjoy the 3 hours spent.
