Relaxing Way to see Charleston

We had been considering driving from Myrtle Beach to Charleston for the day until we saw this Charleston Tour. They knew where to go and made all the arrangements. We enjoyed a carriage ride through the tourist area of Charleston, a boat ride around Charleston Harbor and then a tour of a plantation. All of the tours were interesting and enjoyable. It was a pleasure not to have to worry about driving or finding locations. The tour was a good way to see Charleston in a day.

Great!

Every activity on this tour was first rate. I would take another of their tours without hesitation. The cost was less than what we would have paid to drive there and do them ourselves. Not having to sit behind the wheel for 4 hours was an added bonus -- we arrived home well rested.

Complete history lesson

When we found that we could take a tour of Charlston SC. we just had to take in the tour. We come from the area that was the end point for slaves after the civil war. (read uncle toms cabin). From the time we stepped onto the bus till we got off later that night the day for us was perfect . The horse drawn carriage tour of the city was inspiring as we not only learned about the history but also the architecture (beautiful homes). Our guide knew everything and encouraged discussion . The harbor tour was also informative showing all the stratigic places of the past conflicts. Then came the open air market. The wives loved it and craftsmanship of the folks making the sweetgrass baskets was truly amazing. (couldn't come home without one). The final stop on our trip was the Boone Hall plantation . While we loved to see the history and the fantastic main house, this was bittersweet because of the slave houses. This was a little difficult to take in as we just can't imagine keeping people this way . It was also disturbing to find that a Canadian had also owned this house during that period. With all that I have said I encourage you to take the trip. It's well worth the money spent and you will learn somethins new .

LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Thu, May 29, 08   7:15 AM CHRISABEBA Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
WE ENJOYED ALL ASPECTS OF THE TOUR WITH ONE EXCEPTION. WE DID NOT GET ENOUGH TIME TO SHOP IN CHARLESTON. BY THE TIME WE GOT TO THE SHOPPING AREA AND CONSIDERING THE TIME TO GET FROM THERE BACK TO THE BUS, WE HAD LESS THAN 1/2 HOUR TO SHOP. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS ASPECT OF THE TOUR EXTENDED TO ONE (1) HOUR. WE WERE BACK IN MYRTLE BEACH AT 5:15, RATHER THAN THE EXPECTED 6:15 PM. THERE IS THE EXTRA TIME TO FIT THIS IN.

We had a great time! The trip to Charleston, SC was awesome! The bus was comfortable and the driver (Dave) was great and knew a lot of history about the area. No doubt this is a great trip for the family! David, West Virginia

WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS

WE THOUGHT WE WOULD BE AT THE MARKET LAST TO SHOP. BECAUSE THE BROCHURE SHOWED IT LAST. REALIZED WE WOULD NOT BE GOING BACK WHEN WE WENT TO THE PLANTATION. SHOULD CHANGE BROCHURE OR TAKE TOUR TO PLANTATIAN FIRST AND THEN TO THE CARRIAGE OR BOAT. SO YOU CAN SHOP AT MARKET OR TELL TOURISTS TO MAKE SURE AND GET YOUR SHOPPING BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR THE BOAT. THANK YOU!!!! IT WAS STILL A VERY GOOD TOUR.

Enjoyed the trip, but felt rushed.

Trip was very enjoyable, would go again. There were changes in the itinerary from the brochure info. and the changes were not announced to the group. Also, there was some confusion about where to meet the bus in Charleston after the carriage ride. We were not able to spend enough time at the plantation. Felt that the bus driver was in a hurry to get home.

This trip was a most enjoyable and informative visit. The motorcoach and driver were very good - a very clean coach, and a most hospitable and friendly driver. He explained everything and was very helpful. The entire agenda was great - the carriage ride very nice and I learned a lot about Charleston. The same can be said about the boat ride of the harbor. Boone Hall plantation was very lovely and there too I also learned a lot, as did my friends. On the way back to Myrtle Beach the driver played a video for us which really was fun and enjoyable - the perfect ending to a great day. I'd higly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Myrtle Beach.

I liked the horse drawn carriage ride the best. The boat ride was okay. We had nice weather for it. Boxed lunch was pleasant enough. Boone Hall Plantation was okay. Not enough time was given for the shopping at the open air market.

We had a great trip. Loved the carriage ride and boat trip. Boone Plantation was interesting but not the highlight. Maybe because it was the last thing and we were a little tired. Bus driver was very helpful and friendly.

The day started with a pleasant greeting by the bus driver/tour guide on the way from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. The carriage ride was excellent. The harbor tour was filled with interesting highlights of the local history.

Wonderful day trip - only one problem this year
Wed, Apr 30, 08   7:15 AM etos18i Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This was our third Charleston day tour and we've always enjoyed it. Just make sure the Boone Plantation tour is first and the carriage ride last. On our trip, the carriage ride was first and because of the time constraints, we only had 25 minutes to go through the open market. From what we understand, there was a change for our day. Bummer! There was so much to see and no time to shop. Other than that, this is a wonderful trip to take.
