A variety-type tour for a great bargain!
Wed, Jul 9  7:15 AM jonesacp Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the multi-faceted tour. From the quality of the bus to all the tour guides involved, we feel it was well worth what we paid. We never imagined taking a bus tour, buggy ride, boat ride and walking tour all in one day. The best part is we weren't worn out at the end of the day. The lunch was good too! This was the kind of outing we would do all over again! Thank you for everything.

Fantastic!!!

Our traveling bridge group of 6 women were reluctant at first to reserve and commit to this day tour - we could drive ourselves and save some "money". However, we were able to enjoy the trip and chat among ourselves the entire time on the road. The driver and tour guides could not have been more hospitable or knowledgeable. The bus ride, carriage tour of Charleston, boat tour and delicious luncheon in Charleston Harbor, and subsequent tour of Boone Hall plantation were enough to fill the mind for one day without being overextended. We'd all highly recommend this tour to anyone!

Enjoyable day, very good value

Timely and dependable tour. Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. The carriage tour of Charleston was wonderful. Our time in the market was a bit too short. The boat ride was a little long. Our lunch was fresh and quite good for a box lunch. We enjoyed the plantation. This is a great tour if you have never been to Charleston as it gives you a nice overview of what is there.

Absolutely Phenomenal

The day started by a very friendly greeting from the bus driver. The drive itself was amazing. Following that, the initial carriage ride was really relaxing and very nice. It was a nice way to see the city. The shopping was fun. We could have spent a lot more time without a problem. The boat ride was nice with a very nice lunch. The plantation was great. The sights were phenomenal. I would gladly do this tour again. It was a very nice trip and very cost friendly.

GREAT MIX OF ACTIVITIES IN CHARLESTON
Thu, Jun 26  7:15 AM JUDYLEDUC Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
My trip to Charleston was very enjoyable. I was traveling on my own,but the atmosphere was very friendly and comfortable. Our bus driver, Dave, was very personable and gave us alot of background about the area on the ride down. The horse-drawn carriage was pleasant, and our guide was very knowledgeable about the city.Shopping in the Market was fun.The boat ride was interesting, and I enjoyed the narration and the box lunch.Boone Plantation was interesting, although we were only able to tour the first floor because it is a residence upstairs. I found the displays in the slave quarters very interesting, especially the woman making and selling sweetgrass baskets and the information about what has been unearthed from under the floorboards.I did especially like that the plantation had a very authentic feel to it. No big gift shop or restaurant. The gardens were gorgeous, too.I would highly recommend this tour, for the nice mix of activities and the convenience of not having to make the drive myself or set up reservations individually for the boat and carriage rides and the plantation.

Very well organized and run trip. Bus driver was professional, curteous and helpful. Carriage ride, boat ride and lunch, along with the plantation tour were all enjoyable and lots of historical information was provided by various people duing each stage of the tour. Was well worth the money and the day that we spent on the tour from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. Would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get away and let someone else do the driving for a day.

Charleston Commentary

We enjoyed our day trip to Charleston. Our bus driver was friendly and willing to share his comments and commentary as we traveled. This trip was a great way to see the area and to get a feel for historic Charleston. Our carriage ride was first before it got too hot, then we had a brief tour of the market before boarding the boat. The harbor cruise was relaxing and informative; plus the box lunch was delicious!! Our final stop was Boone Hall Plantation. We had a guided tour of the house and then a chance to walk the grounds before returning back to Myrtle Beach. We met in a convenient location, and the tour bus was comfortable. We definitely suggest this trip to anyone who wants to experience Charleston without the hassles of locating parking and driving from Myrtle Beach.

"Short" but Sweet Trip, Enjoyable overall

My family enjoyed the Charleston Tour Package - myself, parents(mid-60's, sister and her husband and three children(11, 10 and 4). We all really had a good time on each "segment" of the tour. The carriage ride was fun, and it was nice to see the historic end of Charleston and hear some of the history. Our guide was informative and pleasant, although she crammed a LOT of information into a relatively short amount of time(about 1hr.?) - it was almost overwhelming! It was difficult for people in the back of the carriage to hear - some sort of voice amplification system would've been helpful. Also, it was a little distracting for the guide to have to deal with horse issues as well as impart info to us. Maybe it might have been nicer to have 1 person to deal with the horse, and another to act as the actual tourguide..? It also would've been nice to have more freetime to explore the city after the carriage ride. We only had about 40 minutes to walk through the market and find the bus pickup point, which is really not very sufficient! The boatride was pleasant, along with the suitable boxed lunch(sandwich, chips, etc.) Just a pleasant way to spend the mid-day. It might have been nice to, say, stop at Fort Sumter as well... ? Still enjoyed the boatride, though! The visit to Boone Hall Plantation was nice, but somewhat disappointing. We really only saw 3 or 4 rooms of the plantation house, on the "tour" there. The guide was very interesting and a gracious host, but the tour seemed so brief. We found out afterwards, that there were plantation tours of the slave cabins - why wasn't that included as part of our tour too?? That's part of what we wanted to see! Didn't have enough time, though, after the Plantation house tour to explore on our own, which was the biggest disappointment. A stop at the cafe for cold drinks(little chance for this during the long day!), a few minutes in the butterfly pavillion, and a less-than-leisurely skip through the slave cabins, and we had to get back to the bus. Just, not near enough time to stroll around the grounds or enjoy things. More photo-ops(or, any) would've been nice, too. I took relatively few photos just because conditions were not suited to getting a good shot. Sitting in the carriage, hard to get good angles for pics, and no photo ops otherwise in the historic part of town. On the boat, just not close enough to get much more than a horizon shot/cityscape. At Boone Hall, just not enough time to do much of anything! And we were VERY disappointed that we weren't able to take any photos in the plantation house(although we understand why). We were back home by 5:30. We would've been happy to get home later, if we had gotten more opportunity to enjoy the city, the plantation, and more photo ops. Still, overall, a nice side trip to visit a lovely city. Just wish we could've had more time!

Long day, but Great

Did order a little differently than advertised. Went on buggy ride first, then Boat Cruise & Plantation last. Was a little confused at first when we drove past Boone plantation on the way down. Driver was great. Very informative & kept us well informed as where to meet & when. I was a little disappointed to find out Plantation house was 3 rd house built on that site and last re-built in 1935. They don't tell you that right away, you have to ask a lot of questions. Guess I assumed it was original. Slave shantys & smokehouse are original. Did a lot for one day. Very much worth the money.

enjoyable trip to Charleston

My wife and I enjoyed very much the trip to Charleston. All of the tour leaders (bus, carriage and plantation) were informative and provided details that we would never of found out if we went on our own. We are from Chicago and never would of found the sections of the tour on our own. My wife and I recommend this tour very much. I am not so sure that small children would endure the 2 hour bus trip to and from Myrtle Beach. I believe this tour is better for a family with older children.

Relaxing Way to see Charleston

We had been considering driving from Myrtle Beach to Charleston for the day until we saw this Charleston Tour. They knew where to go and made all the arrangements. We enjoyed a carriage ride through the tourist area of Charleston, a boat ride around Charleston Harbor and then a tour of a plantation. All of the tours were interesting and enjoyable. It was a pleasure not to have to worry about driving or finding locations. The tour was a good way to see Charleston in a day.

Every activity on this tour was first rate. I would take another of their tours without hesitation. The cost was less than what we would have paid to drive there and do them ourselves. Not having to sit behind the wheel for 4 hours was an added bonus -- we arrived home well rested.

Complete history lesson
Thu, May 29  7:15 AM brianelgie Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
When we found that we could take a tour of Charlston SC. we just had to take in the tour. We come from the area that was the end point for slaves after the civil war. (read uncle toms cabin). From the time we stepped onto the bus till we got off later that night the day for us was perfect . The horse drawn carriage tour of the city was inspiring as we not only learned about the history but also the architecture (beautiful homes). Our guide knew everything and encouraged discussion . The harbor tour was also informative showing all the stratigic places of the past conflicts. Then came the open air market. The wives loved it and craftsmanship of the folks making the sweetgrass baskets was truly amazing. (couldn't come home without one). The final stop on our trip was the Boone Hall plantation . While we loved to see the history and the fantastic main house, this was bittersweet because of the slave houses. This was a little difficult to take in as we just can't imagine keeping people this way . It was also disturbing to find that a Canadian had also owned this house during that period. With all that I have said I encourage you to take the trip. It's well worth the money spent and you will learn somethins new .

LEARNING EXPERIENCE

WE ENJOYED ALL ASPECTS OF THE TOUR WITH ONE EXCEPTION. WE DID NOT GET ENOUGH TIME TO SHOP IN CHARLESTON. BY THE TIME WE GOT TO THE SHOPPING AREA AND CONSIDERING THE TIME TO GET FROM THERE BACK TO THE BUS, WE HAD LESS THAN 1/2 HOUR TO SHOP. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS ASPECT OF THE TOUR EXTENDED TO ONE (1) HOUR. WE WERE BACK IN MYRTLE BEACH AT 5:15, RATHER THAN THE EXPECTED 6:15 PM. THERE IS THE EXTRA TIME TO FIT THIS IN.
