Unique and fun experience

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our tour with Jennifer. She was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic and we learned a lot of things about the foods we tried that we didn't know before. It was a great way to get to see the local neighborhoods and architecture and to support the local businesses, which all had fantastic and amazing varieties of items we had never heard of. We had a lot of fun checking out the different buildings and homes, including the Playboy mansion. It is a good way to meet new people, tourists and non tourists alike. The time just flew by. You can tell that someone went to great lengths to make the tour a positive experience, even down to the bathroom stops. It ends just a couple of blocks from the Armitage brown line stop, so it's easy to travel back to the downtown loop or back to the beginning of the tour. Very clear instructions are given to us at the start, with all the stops listed on the handout as well as a map. We highly recommend this tour.

Two Miles of Fun, Food and History
Sun, Oct 19, 08   11:00 AM corvidae Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Chicago Food Planet's Near North Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour is a leisurely two-mile excursion into several Chicago neighborhoods, with stops for plenty of local delicacies, spiced with Chicago history. We sampled potato pancakes, gourmet tea, exotic cinnamons, flavored oils and vinegars, luscious chocolates, specialty cheeses and--of course--Chicago's famous stuffed pizza. Our friendly, knowledgeable guide treated us to information about the foods we ate, the shops we visited, and Chicago's history, architecture, famous places and people. Though there wasn't time for shopping along the way, each participant received a complete list of the shops visited (including addresses, phone numbers, web sites, hours of operation, and instructions for returning by public transit), a map of the tour route, coupons, and additional restaurant suggestions. It's a delicious way to explore the Second City!

One of the best ways to experience Chicago!

My husband and I felt as though this was one of the most enjoyable tours we have taken anywhere in the world. Not only did we get to experience a wide range of local Chicago food stops, we got to walk thru 3 different neighborhoods--which we would never normally do as tourists. There were such interesting surprises on the tour--Spice World being my favorite--and our guide was an absolute delight! I will look for similar tours in other cities we visit, but this would be hard to top.

Fun way to see unique Chicago finds

This was a fabulous way to enjoy the sites and tastes of Chicago...off the beaten path. Our guide was wonderful and the weather was perfect for the almost 4hour tour...it was a long walk...beautiful! The only reason I did not give 5 stars...although the stops on the tour were wonderful, there was not enough real food to be considered a meal, in my mind. Chocolate, tea, olive oil and spices do not quite fill me up!! ;) So, I would suggest eating a light meal before going...or plan to head back to one of the two "food" spots after for a late meal!!

We took the Near North Food Tasting Walking Tour on Saturday October 18th at 12:30. Our guide was fantastic and we really enjoyed the places on the tour. Of course the food was fantastic, from the potato pancakes to the chocolates and pizza. The stops at the spice house and the oil and vinegar store were great! Not the usual venue and so appreciated. Very personable young lady guiding us and she seemed to enjoy this as much as we did.

A great time, even for those from Chicago

My wife and I, who are not from Chicago, decided to take this tour with my sister-in-law and her boyfriend to try something new. My sister-in-law and boyfriend live in downtown Chicago so we were afraid they might be bored. From the very beginning the tour was very professional yet relaxed. The guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the food, drink, local culture and architecture. After about 30 mins my sister-in-law and boyfriend were commenting on how much they had learned even though they had been to a few of the restaurant stops. I would recommend this tour to anyone. The walking pace was comfortable and the guide would check every now and then just to make sure. This tour is great and you don't have to worry about getting enough food because you eat a little here and a little there from start to finish. At the end of the tour we were told that a new tour is starting in a different area of Chicago and we are all already planning on taking that tour as well. Great tour, definitely do it

We really enjoyed the walking tour and the various tastings. The places we visited were unique with quality products. They are places I probably would not have entered if it were not for the tour. I will be sure to stop by or order online now that I know how good they are. The information shared about the neighborhoods was also very interesting. Our guide did a great job. I highly recommend this tour to visitors and to Chicago natives!
