My daughter, friend and I enjoyed the walk, talk, and tastes very much. Looking forward to joining the Bucktown tour sometime in the future.

Interesting and fun way to see part of Chicago

We enjoyed the tour; however, the architectural aspects were more interesting than the food samplings. We were disappointed in three of the stops two of which aways offer free tasting samples anyways(the oil & vinegar shop, and the tea shop). The 2 small cubes of cheese and cracker with hummus at the Catering Chocolate were not impressive either. Many in our group felt that stop was dull and were expecting an exciting tasting of something more than a sample you could get at your local grocery deli counter. We were most impressed by the Spice House tour and informational talk, but a small complimentary sample of cinnamon, pepper, or some other spice would have been great. I guess I have been on similar " foodie" tours which were much more generous on the tastings and variety. I would not suggest taking any stops off, but possibly add one or two more like the Old Jerusalem restaurant or Sushi cafe which we passed by (several of us were curious about those) which would only add about 10 minutes more, but greatly enhance the perceived value of the tour. Thanks

Very fun tour and imformative tour! We had a wonderful time walking around hearing interesting stories about Chicago. Even we are local ppl here, we are amazed that how many stories are behind this big city. Strongly recommend!

Entertaining tour and good food tastings

Nine women took the tour. We are native Chicagoans and learned a lot of new things about our City. Our guide was very interesting and friendly. We toured seven very different shops throughout three or four different neighborhoods. We all enjoyed the tour so much that we told the doorman at our hotel to recommend it to tourists. Because we are from Chicago we are planning to revisit several shops. We would give the tour six stars if we could! Definitely recommend it for tourists and native Chicagoans alike.

Our guide, Caroline (I think that was her name--sorry!), was very friendly and enthusiastic. I have a few dietary restrictions and she discreetly catered to them when possible. I thought that all of the stops were very informative--especially the tea and spice stops. One suggestion would be to stop somewhere else besides Catering and Chocolate. No one from the shop spoke to us about the shop or business and while everything there looked nice, it didn't really add anything to the tour because there wasn't any personal connection like in all of the other shops. Perhaps stop at the bakery going in next door instead? Also, as a native, I Iearned a thing or two about some Chicago history (like, I finally know where the Playboy mansion was, the origin of the Second City moniker). I would recommend this tour to locals and tourists alike.

We were a part of the Sept. 19 11:30a.m. tour with Jessie as our guide. We could not have asked for a nicer, more informed, personable guide. Very articulate and knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject. All four in our group are lifelong Chicago-area residents and we learned a lot! A couple of suggestions. There should be more food offered on the tour. While eating a substantial amount at every stop wouldn't be feasible or recommended, perhaps one of the stops in the middle of the tour could offer a bit more. Also, I think the group would have enjoyed receiving a "Food Planet" chocolate bar at the Fudge Pot stop. Our group was under the impression that that was why our guide made a point of showing us the Food Planet mold. One last thing, any chance a taste of liquor could be included? I don't think a taste of beer or wine would do any harm. Finally, please choose a different pizza as an example of Chicago pizza! We were very disappointed with Bacino's. I'd hate to think that visitors to Chicago would go away thinking Bacino's was representative of good Chicago pizza. Overall, we had a great time. I would definitely recommend this activity to others. Thank you.

Enjoyable but a very long walk

There were 7 of us and 6 of us enjoyed it and 1 of us was not pleased with anything that we did. The stores and lectures were interesting and we really enjoyed the varity of the types of stores we visited. We thought we should have been offered bread at the oil shop so we could really get a taste of the oil and that we could have done some shopping at the stores we visited. I am sure the walking was a lot longer than the literature stated, we thought that the Lincoln Park part of the tour should be a tour by itself ,because it was so interesting but we had to hurry through it. I am not sure the tourist understood that they were in 3 different neighborhoods. Our guide Jennifer was great and really knew a lot about each neighborhood and could answer question that were asked. We also thought you could fine a nice pizza place in the Old Town area and make the tour for the Gold Coast and Old Town by itself. Most of us loved the tour and have given the info to many people, thanks for the informative and treats of the Windy City and State Street that great street tour.

Fantastic!!! Why haven't I heard of this before???

I've lived in the Chicago northwest suburbs for eleven years. I've brought tourists to the city at least twice a year but have never gone on this unique tour until last September. Had it not been for my sleepless nights with my newborn baby, I wouldn't have found it featured on the late night show "190 North". I couldn't have picked a better tour for my foodie mother who came all the way from Asia. It was a food tour, architectural tour, and a neighborhood tour all rolled into one. We particularly enjoyed the spice & herb specialty shop and the oil and vinegar store. I only wish they had allowed the group to shop for at least five minutes on each stop. It was really inconvenient to go back, plus we were a bit poofed after walking for three hours. I'm already planning to go to the Bucktown tour with my husband next year.
