Great way to spend 3.5 hours in Chicago

| The guide was wonderful; she included great tidbits of architecture, local color and history. A perfect amount of walking. Tons of information at each stop. It is a great way to spend a day in Chicago with friends. |

| To start with the tour was extremely well organized and our host (Shane) was extremely personable and knowledgeable. The tour mixed in information on each of the foods we were introduced to with a myriad of facts about the areas of Chicago we were walking through. The tour was very well planned and scanned the spectrum from tasting exotic oils and vinegars to learning about rare spices, from tasting homemade hummus to sipping unique teas, from sampling incredible chocolate to devouring one of a kind stuffed pizza.
My recommendation is to book early because this tour will sell out fast. There wasn't one person that I spoke to in our group who wouldn't go back again with a group of friends or relatives (even the hard to please ones!), including us!
Well done Chicago Food Planet, we look forward to trying your Bucktown tour in the near future! |

| We had a blast! My wife, my best friend and I expected a good time, but this blew us away. Well worth the money. The energy and knowledge of the tour guide was engaging and entertaining. This is the best way to see Chicago and some of its greatest little secrets - both cultural and culinary. The food was amazing and interesting, and the walk was beautiful and captivating. I regret moving out of the city moreso now than ever before. At the end of the tour we couldn't believe we had walked as far as we did and the time just flew by. Tourists and locals alike MUST TAKE THIS TOUR!
P.S. - Not a bad way to meet people either. |

| At first, I had the impression we would be going from location to location having tiny samples of things we could not afford, or pronounce. Like some traveling infomercial, or even worse a timeshare experience. When we signed up, it was recommended that we eat prior to attending. What else should I have thought? After all this was a food tour right, why should I eat first? This was our first time to Chicago, the wife wanted to attend, told me it would be a good experience. I settled, besides we wouldn’t know where to go, or what we were looking at on our own anyway.
Turns out the places we went were more like Mom & Pop operations that were wonderful. The Spice Store was the most memorable for the two of us. You could smell the spices from across the street. We spent about ten minutes taking in the fragrances and sampling the test jars. Then the shop owner took time to give us a brief history, both humorous and informative, of how spices came to be. You can tell this man loves his work. The prices were about the same as our local grocery stores, but way better, ask for a catalog. We went back here for more – twice!
The tour starts at the Deli with an orientation and maps handed out of the planned walk. Use the restroom here. If you have never been to a large city, do not pass bathrooms. These are handled like treasured secrets which are few & far between. When choosing shoes for the day go for comfort over cute. Cute will get real ugly about half way into the tour. Walking speed is determined by the group, and is adjusted accordingly. Our group of 15 was well diverse and moved right along. We ranged from the youngest at about 12 to a retired couple. If you have special needs let the guide(s) know. They were very accommodating. My wife has a hearing deficiency; they made a point to keep her close by, and to look in her direction while speaking.
There was a story of the area at each crossing light. A number of the highlighted buildings we passed I would have never given a second look. Jessie and Shane had a way of explaining the architecture design and history that made it interesting. By the end of the three-hour tour, we felt as though we had been fed a reasonable lunch with some quality entertainment. The time seamed to fly by.
I wish we had the time to go on a second tour. The Bucktown was recommended by Jessie; Shane told us we could book it over the phone (212-209-3370), the only open slot we could book on the short notice we couldn’t get into due to our schedule. |

| My best friend and I celebrated a girls weekend in Chicago recently. With both of us having been to Chicago several times, we wanted to do something different. Our search brought us to the food tour and we were THRILLED with how wonderful the tour, food and our guide was.
We both love to cook, smell, sample and EAT in our normal lives, so this brought out the best in our culinary world and created ideas and combinations we never would have otherwise sampled.
Of our 3 days in Chicago - these 3 hours were the most memorable and well spent!!

| We were a mix of locals and visitors. We loved all of the sites and snacks on the tour and retraced our steps back to take advantage of the coupons and purchase some fun goods. It's a great way to see Chicago just hopping from store to store. We also met some very nice people from all over the world. |

| I really liked this tour. I didn't know what to expect. I am an avid walker and this was so much fun. I was able to see neighborhoods in Chicago I had never been to.
The guide was informative and funny.
After it was over we were able to use coupons provided and went back and bought some of the things we tried on the walk.
The tea shop was great.

| As a food industry professional, I found the tour interesting.
The tour should be called the Food and Architecture Tour. The guide was extremely well versed in both specialty foods and the history of Chicago's buildings.
I strongly urge anyone who has interest in these areas to take the tour. |
