Had a great time

This is a fantastic tour, the highlight of our trip as we were visiting from Tokyo, Japan. Really enjoyed the variety of shops included on the tour. It was very educational as well as tasty! Would have never had the chance to sample balsamic vinegars, olive oils and more! A must if you like food and want to learn more about Chicago.

This tour was even better than anticipated. Our guide was personable, fun and very knowledgeable. The presentations were full of interesting facts and the food tastings at each place were delicious, more than adequate and made our entire group want to visit again to dine and/or shop. We also enjoyed the unexpected bonus of the architectural and historical information provided as we walked through several different neighborhoods. It was a great way to spend a day in the city with friends.

We really enjoyed our very informative tour guide, Kate. The 7 stops were unique, interesting and all had yummy tastings. The pace was perfect and the distance between each stop was nice. Our only diappointment was that we had to get back for a meeting and we didn't have time to go back after the tour and do some shopping. It would be great if the generous coupons provided could all be used on the web.

Wow! I cannot say enough about the Near North Food Tour! This was a great way for me to see the heart of Chicago on my short weekend trip! The worst part was that I was LATE and missed the first 2 stops. I took the train when i should've taken a cab from my hotel. Just when I had given up, my cell phone rings and it's Nicky of the tour and she says, "Shawna, are you still coming to the food tour?" WOW! The website says they will not wait for you, but it doesn't say that they won't take care of you! Nicky gave me a number to a cab company and kept up with me 'til I caught up with the tour! AMAZING! I sampled the most awesome foods, saw some of the greatest buildings and was in the company of an EXCELLENT tour guide and enthusiastic travelers! I had too much toffee (can that happen?), loved the cinnamon and over did it on the pizza! I've placed an online order for the vinegars and oils and I can't wait to get back! Sign up! You'll get MORE than your money's worth!

Awesome

My group of 5 all thouroughly enjoyed this activity. It was a nice way to finish our stay in chicago. We each had a different food tasting that we enjoyed. From the rueben sandwhich to the stuffed pizza it was all delicious. The only complaint my group had was the catering chocolate store. It would have been nice to get more variety from there. However, the entire tour was excellent and I highly recommend it.

A Must-Do tour! Best part of my trip to Chicago!!
Fri, Jul 31  11:00 AM bradoister Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
My 3 friends from Philadelphia and I did the tour and this is hands-down one of the best tours of any kind that I've ever been on . The tour was informative, interesting, detailed, imaginative, full of great food and lots of fun! Not only do you learn about the wonderful food that they serve on the tour but you get the detailed story behind the establishment that makes it. On top of everything else, you also learn about the neighborhoods and some of the houses and their unique architecture. It is a great way to introduce you to the real Chicago outside of the typical tourist spots. You get a coupon book on the tour with offers for the places where we stopped as well as many of the local businesses in the neighborhood. Our tour guide (Jennifer) really made the tour special. She was enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable and very generous with the samples on the tour (which was very much appreciated). She was very interested in the tour participants as well and was quick to get to know everyone and make them feel like fast friends. I was quite sad when the tour was over but walked away having a fantastic experience all around. I can't say enough great things about this tour. I would recommend it to everyone! 10 out of 10!!!!!!

Entertainment, education, good food, and fun

My friends and I had a wonderful time with our charming and well-informed guide. We chewed and sniffed and tasted and munched and swallowed--through the best Reuben I've ever had, followed by a most welcome glass of special iced tea, then chocolate, then a lesson on different kinds of cinnamon (you didn't know there were any, did you?) in the most fragrant of settings, followed by tastings of balsamic vinegar and flavored olive oils that were good enough to chug, a bit of WI cheese and fresh hummus--and ending with Chicago-style stuffed pizza. Wow. In between we learned about clever and outrageous real-estate deals, historical architecture, and area history. Try it--you'll like it!

Arianna (sp?) was our enthusiastic, articulate, informative, and darling guide. We have done many tours in many cities; this tour exceeded our expectations and was a delight for all of our senses. The merchants were attentive; the food was varied and excellent. We plan to shop at these stores next time we visit Chicago (November). Thank you. We happily recommend this excursion.
