We had a great tour guide, very informative and friendly. But 3 hours is a little too long. I would recommend shortening it to 2 hours to maintain everyone's interest. The food samples were NOT very good... except for the chocolate samples.

We found some great new shops that we will visit again on our next trip to Chicago. There was a nice mix of history, folklore, and architectural "tastings" along with the yummy food tastings. There was enough food for the ladies to call it lunch but definitely not enough for the guys or kids.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Chicago area as well as for those living there. We returned to three of the 8 places to purchase items the next day. Our tour guide was very friendly and upbeat and very informed. I have already told several friends/relatives that the Food Tour is a must on their next visit to Chicago.

We enjoyed the neighborhood tour with descriptions of architecture styles. We never would have visited these areas on our own. The food was less in quantity than we expected, but quality was good. Best stop for us, the Spice Shop. We recommend this tour.

My wife and I were in Chicago and went on the tour 11/20/2009. It truly was the highlight of our trip. We looked forward to the food, but did not anticipate how much we would learn about the local neighborhoods and architecture. My favorite was the olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting. I never thought tasting balsamic by itself could be so good. I went back for seconds and thirds. My wife's favorite was the fudge shop where we received buttered toffee samples. All-in-all a must see. If we are ever to go back to Chicago, we will be taking the other tour offered by Chicago Food Planet. If you are on the fence about this tour, get off of the fence and go. You will not regret it.

Enjoyed the restaurants although the catering chocolate seems a bit pointless. Was pleasantly surprised by the spice shop and the oil shop.

My wife and I spent last weekend celebrating our birthdays and anniversary in Chicago--the Near North tour was definitely the highlight of our trip. The variety of establishments along the tour was fitting for two self-proclaimed "foodies" who prefer cooking over dining; we found extraordinary ingredients to bring home and use in our everyday dishes. My wife was thrilled to find za'atar spice at The Spice House (and I was thrilled to enjoy it on naan with her rendition of hummus from Catering/Chocolate). Our tour guide Shane was excellent--very knowledgable and entertaining. The architectural history included in the tour was unsuspected but certainly embraced. We look forward to returning to Chicago in the near future--the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour will definitely be at the top of our itinerary.

| The tour passes by my condo everyday. I signed us up to take advantage of the nice November weather just to get out and about.
I was amazed by the knowledge and new places I pass every day but had no idea. Not sure how I have missed the Deli for the 8 years I have lived 3 blocks away. I will be there weekly.
I would recommend this tour for both Locals and Tourists |

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in early November when we joined the Near North Food Tasting tour! Our guide was Jen, and she was awesome! She kept us entertained and informed throughout the walk. What great architecture and fabulous neighbourhoods. Old Towne Oil was by far our favourite stop - and we went back the next day to make some purchases! The deep dish pizza at the end was our first of our trip, and remained our favourite! Thanks to Jen and Casey for making some recommendations to us for the rest of the day!! I was not sure what to expect on this tour, but I can say that we look forward to taking the other neighbourhood tour on our next visit to Chicago. Oh, PS - thanks for the great weather too!
