We planned this at the beginning of our trip to Chicago and learned a lot about where to go and what to do in the city. We enjoyed sampling the local fare as well as hearing about the architecture and other interesting tidbits of information. The pizza at the end was a highlight, but all was wonderful. Walking was a great way to not feel guilty about the chocolate and other great goodies consumed! |

My 17 year old picked this tour and I went along. I had fun the whole tour. The guide gave us architectural facts along the tour that were as much fun as the shops we stopped in. Chicago history facts were also great. The surprise stop in front of the old Playboy Mansion was a highlight. The shops were selected with care to be unique. I won't tell you them so they can be a surprise. The ONLY thing wrong was the directions using the Elevated to get back to were we started the tour. It said Clark & Fullerton instead of Clark & Diversey. OOP's.
I would recommend this tour and the fun people who run it to anyone that can walk a couple miles. |

A perfectly pleasant tour, with some neat stops along the way. It was neat getting short talks from some of the purveyors and more in-depth glimpse into some of the stores that we wouldn't have been able to get just shopping. However, for serious cooks and foodies, it was a bit light. The tour is better suited for a family activity; something to do when friends are in town. It was a nice introduction to some of the different neighborhoods in the city, and we learned a few tidbits along the way too. |

This tour even in a rain storm was fun, full of information, tasty and a good walking workout. We found little jems of stores and retaurants that we would have never found as tourists to Chicago. Unfortunately we added this tour on the end of our trip and could only run back to a few of the shops before they closed on Sunday evening. We do plan a trip back to Chicago and will be taking this tour with more of our friends at the beginning of our trip. It would have been nice to have had time to buy in these stores but we do have the internet and have already put in our orders.
Our tour guide was fun and knowledgable. The homes and shops in Old Town and in Lincoln Park are beautiful and it is good to see that a city core can be revitalized even after the urban sprawl of the 70's, the city planners did a wonderful thing to reinvest in the city centre to bring it back to life.
Thanks again for our wonderful tour, we will be returning and can't recommend this tour enough. Thanks again, Maureen and Linda |

The activity was fun, the food good, the locations we visited enjoyable and the tour guide was very knowledgable, freindly and involved with everyone. I am local to Chicago but my friends were from DC. I would recommend this anyone who wants a highlevel tour. I learned of one reatil store that I have already gone back to. |

We really enjoyed the fact that the tour covered interesting details about the Chicago neighborhoods we visited, unexpected facts about the food items, and plenty of sampling. The tour guide was excellent, clearly showing that she was an enthusiastic native. She continually checked to make sure everyone was happy with the pace of the tour, and we never felt rushed. We would recommend this tour to others! |

We had a wonderful guide named Jennifer who was very passionate and enthusiastic about sharing her love of Chicago, although she modestly claims that all the FoodPlanet guides communicate the same information. We walked through three significant neighborhoods that reflect Chicago's wonderful history, architecture and diversity (NOTHING scary, I promise! Lots of wonderful upscale things to admire too) and tasted such interesting things while learning. I've traveled all over the world and this is - bar none - the best tour I've ever taken for the sheer interest, range of information and variety of activities - exercising, learning, tasting, sightseeing. Plus, they give you the "down low" on what locals like to do so you can make your own plans later and there also was a little local gossip to keep the interest level at a peak the entire time! Can you tell I had a wonderful time and will be dragging a group up to Chicago just for this tour as soon as I can pull it off? |

The food was terrific, but I found the tour through the various neighborhoods to be just as great a part of the experience. I like to visit new areas but am reluctant to explore on my own without some guidance either written or personal. Emily actually went to college and lived in the area so was able to provide great insights. A passer-by was impressed also and we gave one of our guides away so they could sign up. You might want to give extra flyers to your guides so they can pass them out en route. This is well worth the price to see another part of Chicago on a personal level. |
