A Great Time!

I really enjoyed the tour. The guide was full of information not only about the food but also in reference to the areas we visited and the architecture we saw. The stops were all very interesting and very good. I also enjoyed that the tour headed north to the gold coast and old town and lincoln park areas, which we would otherwise not have visited.

I learned many things about food that I had not known in the past. I enjoyed tasting the food and learning about the processing of the foods. The guide walked us though the city and showed/told us about many historical building that I would not have known about if I were not with the group. I was near the end of my stay in Chicago when I took this tour so now when I return I will know where to go so I can spend more time in this part of Chicago. I do wish we had a little time to shop at the places we visited. I had to walk back to the spice store alone and very quickly so I would not be late to meet friends after the tour. Our tour guide was wonderful and I would like to know about tours in other cities.

Tour & leader - great, food just so-so

I enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods & the leaders comments on same. I was disappointed with the food tasting. The ad leads you to believe you will get ample tastings & therefore not need lunch. I went on the 1:30 tour, maybe that is different. I thought we would taste more food from the area, but we actually had only half a potato cake & pizza unless you count 2 different chocolate shops. The other stops included a tea shop, olive oil & balsamic vinegar with nothing for dipping & a spice store where you sprinkled the spices in you hand to taste. Chicago pizza is supposed to be wonderful, but the chef decided to make it heathy & believe me I am very health conscience & love spinach, but the pizza did nothing for me. I would also reccomend leaving time for purchases.

I also took this tour thru Greenwich Village, NY. I loved it and recommended it many times. Went a second time with family as we were visiting. The Chicago tour needs more history and more diversity amoung the stops. Too much candy and chocolate. Deli - boring, and bad food. Tea shop - informative and great idea Old Town Fudge - fun, tasty, great stop Spice House - I shop there often and enjoy it. They need a bettter presentation and time to shop. Oil Shop - good idea - time to shop is needed Bacino's and Ethel's are fun. You feel too rushed on the tour. Add a half hour and let people shop. We did enjoy ourselves and appreciate your efforts.

We had a great time. Our guide was fun, she even knew alot of Chicago history. The food tasting was great, wish we had time to shop at the spice and oil shops. Our group liked the fudge shop the best, and had to force ourselves to eat even more choc. candy. We had great weather, don't think It would have been fun in the rain.

Neighborhood History and Food

My wife and I wanted to experience some "real" Chicago locales not seen by tourists and this was perfect. We explored neighborhood eateries and specialty shops while enjoying a stroll through town (about 2 miles). Our guide was thoroughly knowledgeable in the history and facts of the neighborhoods and offered great insight into Chicago. We expected more food, they said it would be like a meal but we must be big eaters, I was famished.

Nice way to learn about Chicago neighborhoods

Would highly recommend this tour for those just visiting the city. It's a nice way to get your bearings, understand what the various neighborhoods have to offer, and then ultimately determine where you may want to spend some quality time. The food & retail spots visited were picked well and provided a nice variety of food, beverage, and novelty-ish items.

This tour was the perfect mix of food tasting, history, and cultural exploration of the windy city! The guide was really enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I'd recommend it for anyone who likes to walk around and explore a city - it's almost like being shown the best places to eat and see from a friend who lives there.

Mixed feelings

We enjoyed our tour guide and the walking tour. The stops that we made were interesting. I was disappointed in the amount of food that we had on the tour. We basically had ice tea, some cheese, candy and a slice of pizza. I didn't think tasting balsamic vinegar and olive oil or sniffing herbs counted as "real" food. I thought for $40 a person that really was not much food. I tried to justify it by saying that the tour was 3 and a half hours and exploring Chicago was fun and worth the money.
