| I took a group of 4 young women from my church group on the Near North Side Walking Tour. Our tour was on Oct. 11, 2009.
Although we all live in the South Suburbs of Chicago...none of us have been to these spots.
Everyone really enjoyed the tour. There was just enough time between walking and 'seeing'. The places we visited were great. There was only one thing that the ladies wanted, and that was to have time to shop! I'm not sure that this tour would make that possible however, maybe you could have a tour with less places and more shopping. At the Spice Shop they said that they would have rather looked at the spices more and not had the talk about cinnamon. But there were also some that felt that they learned a lot from the talk...so it is a draw. Our tour guide Kent was really good. He was considerate of the entire group, some were older than others! He also had quite a bit of knowledge of the stores and landmarks that we came in contact with. He spoke clearly and loud enough that we could all hear him. I will be taking our group on this tour again in the Spring.
I would suggest doing this type of thing in other neighborhoods as well! Great Job.

Our guide, Jen, was both incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the various locations and products being sold therein. She also really cared about the group members as individuals; making sure that the pace was good for everyone and wanting to know what we liked best about the tour. I very much look forward to another trip to Chicago so I can go on another of your tours.

Even though it rained, we loved being introduced to the neighborhoods and enjoyed Nicky's architectural commentary. Nicky was also well informed in each of the shops and gave interesting culinary presentations. We learned alot and were treated well from the various businesses we visited. Looking forward to the Bucktown and Wicker Park tour on our next trip to Chicago. Book early..we got the last two spots on the tour 10 days before our visit.

Of all the things I did in our four day trip to Chicago, this was the best! I thoroughly enjoyed getting away from the hotel area and into the real neighborhoods of Chicago. The choice of shops we visited was good, but what really made the tour was our guide, Jen. Her knowledge of not only the shops and the food, but the homes and history of the neighborhoods was excellent. I'd highly recommend this tour!

Even though my husband and I live in the Gold Coast area, we loved the tour and learned a lot about the food/deli speciality shops...especially in the Old Town area. Our grown children were with us. This tour is for adults or teens. We are looking forward to doing other food/cultural tours in both Chicago and other cities.

We found it to be an unique tour. We liked the diversity of foods and tastes. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the foods as well as the history and architecture of the neighborhoods. She was as enthusiastic as we were about the things we saw and did. It was a good mix and would recommend it and look forward to trying the other tours next time we are in town.

We met at the Ashkenaz Deli and knew right away we had a good group touring with us. Adriana was our guide and we could not have asked for anyone better. We loved the stops, but it felt like more than 1 l/2 miles. Maybe I'm just not in shape. The talk about the neighborhoods was very informative. The only comment (not complaint) we have is we think the Askenaz Deli should give a choice of either a potato knish or a sandwich. Unfortunately some of the people do not eat meat and were unable to try the sandwich. The guide told us that they used to offer the knish and people complained that there was no meat on the tour. I guess you can't please everyone, but maybe a choice (in advance) would be a better option. We had two people from Baltimore and two from California who were spending a weekend together and we all loved the tour. I, personally loved the Tea Shop and the Pizza was incredible. After the tour we returned to the Spice Shop and Tea Shop and did some shopping. Other people from our tour were also at these shops. I doubt if many people returned to the candy shop or catering shop. The only other comment I have is that it would have been nice to have been able to sit at one additional time other than the Spice Shop and then at the very end for Pizza. We all had tired feet, but would not have missed the tour.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Near North Food Tasting Tour. It was well organized and gave us a nice sampling of places to re-visit on our next trip to Chicago. The portions we sampled at each stop were generous. No skimping whatsoever. While we had to keep to a schedule we did not feel rushed in any way. We actually wouldn't have minded a few more opportunities to sit for a few minutes. The success of our tour, in large part, goes to our tour guide, Jessie. Not only is she pretty; she is smart, articulate, nicely groomed, and well versed in food subject as well as the architecture in the areas we visited. She was a delight and is a real asset to the Chicago Food Planet. We can't wait to come again.
