An enjoyable and educational experience
Mon, Oct 19  11:00 AM NBMARSHALL Male 70+ Local Couple on a Date
One of the most interesting and fascinating experiences. Our guide, Nicky, made us feel as if we were on a private tour with her. Her comments about the history of the neighborhoods we visited were informative and enjoyable. We've lived in the Greater Chicago area (Vernon Hills) for 11 years but were unaware of the sites we visited. We plan to recommend the tour to allof our out-of-town visitors. We have already recommended it to our neighbors and local friends.

I highly reccommend this tour for anyone interested in Chi town neighborhoods! I booked this tour for my friend's bhirthday. We have been to Chi town numerously and always wanted to wander and browse other neighborhoods but never knew where to begin. This tour was a great tutorial. Our guide, Jennifer was terrific! Knowledgeable, courteous, engaging, and informative. We can hardly wait until next spring so that we can book the Bucktown and Wicker park tour. Everyone always thinks Chicago is just State street and Michigan Avenue. There is so much more to this diverse city. Thanks again and see you in this spring! Wendy Ossola

Not just for tourists-locals will love too!

My boyfriend and I went on the Near North Food Tour and we loved it so much, we are planning on taking the Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tour come spring time! Let me start off my saying, the stops are broken up nicely so a lot of the heavier eating is at the beginning and at the end. You also walk about a mile and a half during the afternoon so you don't feel too guilty about your afteroon of gluttony. Our tour guide was Nicki and she was awesome. Super friendly and imformative. It was obvious she loved what she did and we truly could not have asked for a better tour guide for the afternoon. Our first stop was my favorite-Ashkenaz Deli. My boyfriend is Jewish and from Chicago and never knew this gem was here! We will definitely be back for more! Our second stop was Tea Geschwender. Im not a huge tea drinker so I was pleasently surprised by the yummy tea we sampled. Next, we wandered over to Wells Street in Old Town, learning about some of the history of the neighborhoods along the way. We stopped inside The Spice House, Old Town Oil, The Fudge Pot and Catering Chocolate. All great little shops that I have walked by a million times, but never stopped in. Glad I got to experience them! Ended the tour at in Lincoln Park at Bacinos for some delcious Chicago style pizza. Having lived in Chicago for the past 2 years and taking the tour with my boyfriend who grew up in the area, it proves even locals will appreciate it. We learned some fun facts about Chicago and visited places that we may have not gone to on our own. We both highly recommend it for people visiting as well as people who live here. Definitely one of the more unique things I have done in Chicago recently!

The most enjoyable activity I've done in a while

The Near North Food Tour was very enjoyable. The guide was very knowledgeable of the area and of the establishments. She was very enthusiastic and attentive to everyone in our group. I really liked that it touched on alot of the stores and restaurants but also on some of the stores and restaurants unique to the area (not chains). It was very nice to leisurely walk the different neighborhoods and view/learn about the buildings, the people and the area. Overall, it was just a great experience and I look forward to participating on other tours offered.

Living in Chicago all my life and even speding time on the very street we walked, I thought I knew it all....was I wrong!!! The tour took us to places I have passed a hundred times, without ever knowing the treasures which lied within those restaurants and shops. It was fun, informative, and I would recommend to anyone both local and out of town visitors.

Jen our tour guide was AWESOME!

The tour was incredible. Jen was wonderful. I brought my Aunt visiting from California we bothed loved the tour. The best part was the olive oil store, which we went back a few days later to make a purchase. It was raining all day yet Jen's super sweet attitude made it a sunny day. Her knowledge of the area was great. Loved her stories. The ONLY think I would change was the chocolate catering place, which we were not impressed with at all. We will be taking the other food tasting tour the next time my Aunt is in town. I hope we have Jen as our guide! Thank you for an awesome day.

Dennis from St. Louis ... Ketchup is not a spice!

Fantastic tour.. When Henry Ford was in business with Mr. Rockefeller he called MR. R and had a problem with the car line. MR. R flipped a few switches and fixed the problem. MR. R then sent a bill to MR. Ford a bill for $10,000.00. Mr. Ford called and questioned the amount. Mr. R said, OK I will resend the bill. He resent that bill... $1000 for his time to flip a couple of switches $9000 for knowing what switches to flip. Your tour was Fantastic because you know where to go and information about the local shops. ( What switches to flip) I have sent in orders to almost all the food shops and will recommend this tour to all my friends... Ketchup was a joke... no one laughed Dennis Boldt Owner/'Operator Delex Corp dba The Pasta House Co High Ridge MO

outstanding glimpse of 3 wonderful neighborhoods
Mon, Oct 12  11:00 AM davidstedt Male 60-69 Local Family Without Children
nothing like going to food shops that are quaint, quality, and now a discovery to be revisited for that specialty food. the neighborhoods walk with the history and tidbits of the latest were educational and entertaining. I can't wait to do the other tour in Bucktown as I'm done the north one twice now. I bought tickets as birthday gifts to my 2 daughters and brother, what a special out of the ordinary gift and way to enjoy an afternoon with them. Your tours are great and conducted by excellent guides.

Wonderful Tour ***** Will Do It Again

I took a group of 4 young women from my church group on the Near North Side Walking Tour. Our tour was on Oct. 11, 2009. Although we all live in the South Suburbs of Chicago...none of us have been to these spots. Everyone really enjoyed the tour. There was just enough time between walking and 'seeing'. The places we visited were great. There was only one thing that the ladies wanted, and that was to have time to shop! I'm not sure that this tour would make that possible however, maybe you could have a tour with less places and more shopping. At the Spice Shop they said that they would have rather looked at the spices more and not had the talk about cinnamon. But there were also some that felt that they learned a lot from the talk...so it is a draw. Our tour guide Kent was really good. He was considerate of the entire group, some were older than others! He also had quite a bit of knowledge of the stores and landmarks that we came in contact with. He spoke clearly and loud enough that we could all hear him. I will be taking our group on this tour again in the Spring. I would suggest doing this type of thing in other neighborhoods as well! Great Job. Sandy M
