Great Local Perspective

The tour takes you along Bucktown/Wickerpark, which from the map, my first concern was how far away from downtown Chicago it was going to take place. But it starts off near a beautiful residential area and the shops along Damen Ave are very unique and fun. Our tour guide Kent was awesome! He was enthusiastic and made a point to get to know everyone. He also gave a great history of the area and each food location. The food locations that were chosen were awesome. I did not care to much for the Sultan Market. But the other locations that we went were excellent. I would recommend this tour. I think I would have to say that I loved this side of the city. The next time I visit Chicago I want to stay on this part of the city. Overall, we loved the food tour and are extremely happy that we decided to this. This is worth your money and is a great experience. DO IT!!!!

Guide was knowledgable and most of places we visited were worth the visit. There were some different venues which we would not have visited without this exposure. The Middle Eastern and iCream were unique and enjoyable. We would encourage others to take the tour if asked. The scope of architecture was varied and history added to the experience.

I highly recommend this tour. The tour guide, Kent, made it great. He was very entertaining plus knowledgable about the food, owners, history and the local architechture. It was extra nice to be in one of the older neighborhoods away from the heavy tourist areas. The amount of food is filling and I was full by the end. I heard the other food planet tour was also excellent and wish I had taken it also.

The food choices, in all their simplicity and unpretentiousness, were surprisingly unforgettable and offered me a chance to sample eclectic cuisine I would have otherwise never tried. The stops were planned perfectly, so that one never felt overstrained or weighed down by too much extraneous information (as can sometimes happen in other tours.) This tour is a uniquely brilliant way to experience the city.

too much food not enough walking

The food we sampled was terrific and we'll go to some of the places again. In fact my daughter who lives in Chicago already has. I wish there would have been more walking and information about the area but we had a great time. We've taken both food tours and liked them both. I would highly recommend either tour to tourists in Chicago.

George's Hot Dog - Good Hot Chocolate - loved the homemade marshmallow and good drink Goddess Deli - it's a very cute place, BUT the food provided during the tour was extremely unimpressive and boring (not very good) Piece - loved the ambiance, good pizza and beer Sultan Market - i was too full to eat this there, but when I took it back to my hotel and had it for dinner -- it was really good; enjoyed this iCream - very different and enjoyed this very much tour guide - extremely knowledgeable; good tour guide history - interesting facts

The Bucktown/Wicker Park tour was great. Our guide new a lot about the neighborhoods and the establishments we visited and had a lot of stories to share. All of the food was excellent, especially iCream! I would recommend this tour for anyone.

This was the second Chicago Food Planet tour that we have taken and we were, again, not disappointed. From George's Hot Dogs to ICream, the whole experience couldn't have been better. I would have to say that the iced hot chocolate was a little taste of heaven! Jess was a wonderful tour guide and told us all about the history of Buck Town and Wicker Park. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to tour and taste Chicago!
