Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tasting & Cultural Tour

The Bucktown/Wicker tour was the only one available so we took it and had so much fun. Good food, and you get to take in another area of Chicago that is arty and eclectic with some awesome food!

The tour guide was extremely entertaining and knowledgeable. The three hours flew by. Access to the tour was easy via the El train; we came back the next night and had dinner at one of the places we went on the tour. There was plenty of food, lots of interesting information, and a real chance to get to know a part of Chicago that most casual tourists would miss.

My family and I enjoyed the tour very much. The combination of food and varied types of eating establishments was excellent. The portions were much larger than we'd anticipated and by the fourth stop we were pretty well stuffed! But we did manage to make room for the final 2. The tour guide was entertaining and informative and it was interesting to learn about this interesting neighborhood in dept.

We took both tours and highly recommend both. Several people asked which one we liked better but honestly, they are not comparable. Either one is great. I will say though- I was VERY stuffed in the Bucktown tour. The Near North tour was more walking which helped with the digestion. Loved both our tour guides- very informative.

If you're looking to find interesting places off the beaten path and enjoy food, this is for you. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Not just about the food, but about the history of the town, and architecture. While the tour was 90% around food, the other 10% was food for your brain and gave our tummies time to digest. It was a good mix of eclectic foods, Chicago foods, and new foods. I highly recommend this tour, you will not regret it.

We really enjoyed this time together without our children. Our children are 5 and 3yrs old too little to go on the tour but if they were older we would have loved to bring them. We live in wisconsin (just over the boarder from chicago) and we love chicago so we went there to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We have done alot of the norm tourist things to do so we wanted to do something different. When I went on-line and saw the food tours I thought that would be a great way to learn the history of the foods chicago is known for and the neighborhoods there in. Plus I love the walking part. It is very easy and not hard at all. Our tour was pretty large I believe there were 15 people all together. There were couples, families, friends and even a single lady. It was interesting to hear where everyone was from. The family were from L.A. another couple were from Colorado Springs and I believe there were 3 couples from Minnesota. It was fun and of the beaten path of the usaual tours. We would recommend this tour for everyone. OH how could I forget WE LOVED OUR TOUR GUIDE CARRIE YOU ROCKED THANKS! She was very fun and upbeat. If you are looking for something different to do and love food then this is for you!! you will LOVE IT!

This is billed as a food tour but is that and more, including info on history, culture, and architecture of the city and neighborhoods. I'd guess that most tourists wouldn't normally get to Bucktown and Wicker Park, so this tour is a great way to explore these neighborhoods. The food tastings were overall quite good. A few of the items were really excellent and made me want to go back for a full meal, a few were a good taste of Chicago, and one or two were so-so. Our guide Carrie was enthusiastic and kept our attention for 3 hours, which is not easy. I definitely recommend this tour to anybody who is into food and wants to explore an interesting part of Chicago that they otherwise probably would not experience.

My husband and I really enjoyed our afternoon on the Wicker Park/Bucktown tour. We love good food, and found some of the food disappointing (cold unremarkable pizza at Piece, boring pasta salad at the Goddess and Grocer) and some amazing (incredible falafel at Sultan's and the beer at Piece was excellent). So why did we love the tour anyway? It was a nice way to get an overview of a very dynamic neighborhood, the architectural part of the tour was interesting, and it was cool to get a sense of the tempo of Wicker Park by stopping in at the different food places. I don't normally taste my way around a neighborhood to that degree if I am visiting a city. Our guide was passionate and fun to be with, and the people on the tour shared a love of food and exploration, so that was a plus, too.

I decided to take the Bucktown/Wicker Park food tour and it was the highlight of my trip. It got me "off the beaten path" and the food tastings were great!

For a birthday present for my son, we took the tasting tour as we are both "food people". The variety of tasting options and locations were great and we also enjoyed the historical aspects of the tour as well, even though we are from the state of Georgia. We would highly recommend this tour as the food and the tour guide were both excellent.
