We've been to Chicago numerous times but wanted to try a different look at the neighborhoods. This was a perfect way to spend the afternoon while my daughter was at work. The tour was little walking and many calories of eating--delicious foods. The portions were large and the tour kept us moving without being rushed. I would have liked more info regarding the architecture, but for the time we had, it was adequate.
Looking forward to taking the China town tour next time.
Well worth the time and money. |

Our group included two people that had never visited Chicago before. The rest of us lived in chicago our entire lives with differing exposure to the city. The overall concensus was that it was a great way to experience Chicago's neighborhoods. So often we think of Chicago for visitors as the lake front or the mag mile. This was wonderful because it incorporated so much history about our food, our blended cultures and our early years. We can't wait to do the other tours available. |

We had booked the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour online in the UK, prior to our trip to Chicago. My sister and I were really looking forward to it as eating is one of our greatest pleasures in life! Add to that our love of walking and interest in social history, this looked like the perfect tour for us. We certainly weren't disappointed. In fact, it was the highlight of our trip. Kent, our guide, was full of informative insights into the neighbourhood and made the tour both interesting and enjoyable. He knew the area inside out and his passion for the places we ate at was evident. I liked the fact that the tour champions local businesses, many of which use local produce, and I was introduced to the term 'localvore' which I'd not heard before! My favourite food stop was George's Hot Dogs and my sister's was Sultan's, where we were served falafel in pitta bread. The tour covered a good variety of eateries and we enjoyed sampling everything on offer! The food stops were interspersed with walking around the local area and it was particularly interesting to find out the history/film connections of various properties. Above all, the tour gave us the opportunity to visit a neighbourhood away from Downtown Chicago and took us to places we may not have noticed had we been on our own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys food and is interested in learning more about the culture of the place they are visiting. Kent is doing a great job - keep up the good work! |

A girlfriend and I decided to do this tour while in Chicago for a weekend away from kids/husbands. It was great! You get the perfect amount of food to fill you up, but not uncomfortably full to walk around for the tour. There is quite a bit of walking so wear comfy shoes! Gina was a great tour guide! We both said we would do it again! |

This was an interesting tour but turned out a bit disappointing. On a very hot day our guide attempted to make the best of it. At times, we felt like weren't welcomed by the establishment. there was no connection between the owner/manager of the establishments and the tour guide. We felt like we were a left over piece of meat huddled in a corner so we wouldn't disturb any patrons or left to roast huddled on a side walk.At our second stop, we couldn't even go in the restaurant. Interesting architecture on the tour but it consumed too much time for the tour. The guide commented about the architecture and it appeared that he had a lack of knowledge on the subject matter. I would hope that future tours would have more food substance and less architecture flavor. |

This is my second Food Tour with Chicago Food Planet, and I have enjoyed both equally. The first I went on with my husband, and this one I gathered up some girlfriends for a fun Saturday afternoon outing. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely consider doing another as well as giving one as a gift. |
