Our daughter just moved to Chicago/Lincoln Park area last month. We thought this would be a great way to explore the Bucktown/ Wicker Park neighborhoods. Not only did we enjoy all the delicious and unique food tastings but the cultural tidbits were also very interesting!!

During our 4-day visit to Chicago, the tour of the Bucktown and Wicker Park neighborhoods turned out to be a real highlight. Food, history, and architecture were emphasized. The pace was pleasant and the guide was knowledgeable and personable. All 6 members of our group loved it.

I came to Chicago for the first time ever and I was by myself. This tour was one of the highlights of my trip. The tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable of not only food, but the entire city. I would highly recommend this to people traveling by themselves or for large groups. I would do this again in a heart beat and will recommend it to all of my friends that travel to Chicago.

This is our second food tour in Chicago. The food was good and the tour was very interesting. I found our tour guide to be very friendly, maybe to much at times. He tried to hard to be liked. I would recomend doing this as a couple, group or a single. I think kids would be bored and the walking may be to much for a small child

Even though we were all locals of Chicago we learned quite a lot about the history of the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood. There are many places we look forward to going back to and exploring on our own. Thanks Carey for a great tour.

Tasty way to tour a different side of Chicago

The guide was friendly and gave an architectural tour as well as showing us some unique eating establishments off the main tourist area of Chicago. If I hadn't taken other tours of Chicago, I might have taken this company's Near North tour as well. By the way, there is WAY too much food, don't have breakfast before you go.

Tour leader: great energy

We were led by Kent who was enthusiastic and energetic. He did a fantastic job of pointing out the sites and filling in the time between tastings with interesting details of historical significance. I was a little surprised to see that the median age of our group was in the 50s. When I found the tour online after a search, I thought "young districts, food, walking - hmmm, maybe for people in their thirties." Perhaps it's the price that scares people off. A tip if you go: do not eat a big breakfast beforehand. There is plenty to eat on the tour.

Great tour

The food was terrific and the portions were bigger than expected. I felt rushed in the beginning because we made several quick eating stops, but during the second half we had more of an opportunity to walk and learn about the neighborhood's history.

Top of Our List!

The Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tour led by our guide, Ben, was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Chicago. At the end of our weekend we put the food tour at the top of our list of things we enjoyed most about Chicago. Everything was well planned and executed and the food was outstanding. The tour was everything it promised to be and so much more, Ben led the tour with eloquence, enthusiasm, and obvious knowledge of the neighborhood and Chicago. We began with a Chicago style hot dog at George's Hot Dogs, which was as expected, excellent. We can see why they have been in business for so long. If we lived in the area we would probably come here once a week. We then stopped at Hot Chocolate, a restaurant to which we will definitely return for a full meal the next time we are in Chicago. We had an iced chocolate drink with a homemade marshmallow - very rich and flavorful. We saw wonderful looking desserts and pastries in a case up front and based on our chocolate drink we are sure the rest of the food here is equally amazing. By now, we were already full and had several more stops to make! Next we had a nice sampling of a pasta salad at the Goddess and Grocer where the pasta was cooked just right and the seasonings were interesting but not overwhelming. Then, on to Piece for delicious thin crust pizza and a local brew sample. We really enjoyed the pizza and beer! Next we went to Sultan's Market for a falafel sandwich (I saved mine for later because I was so stuffed). It made a great midnight snack back at our hotel that night. The prices at this restaurant were unbelievably low and you could definitely eat your full of delicious food and have money left over. For our grand finale, we went to iCream and had a sample of a chocolate and nutella creation. It was definitely an interesting experience and concept and a nice way to end our food feasting. But, the tour is about so much more than food - walking around was wonderful as we had perfect weather that day and learning about the neighborhood's architecture and inhabitants was quite interesting. It was nice to walk a bit after the tastings to work up a little appetite for the next stop. After reading other people's reviews about how the food tour was an adequate lunch, we would have to disagree...we had so much food we could not eat it all and we love to eat! Our advice is to wear comfortable clothes, bring an open and positive attitude, and be sure to come to the tour hungry. You won't be at the end! My husband and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone else looking for a wonderful afternoon in Chicago. This was our first food tour and we are positive based on our experience it will not be our last. The tour was well worth the ticket price - money well spent. It was truly good value for the dollar. Many, many thanks to Ben, who did such an excellent job as our guide for the Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tour.
