This is our second Chicago Food Planet Tour, having taken the Near North tour a couple of months ago. The Bucktown tour was just as good as the first one. Great food coupled with interesting insight into the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood. We were a group of two women with our twenty-something sons visiting from around the country. Every one of us loved the tour. Kent was our guide and did a fantastic job of giving us the insider's perspective on his neighborhood. Now we have to come back to Chicago to take the Chinatown tour! P.S. None of the local Chicagoans that we know have ever heard of these great tours. We're glad we discovered them and hope we've convinced our friends to take advantage of this "hidden gem" of an activity right in their backyards. |

Our Bucktown/Wicker Park food tour was terrific. We got a lot of history of the area while enjoying interesting food at local places. Our tour guide, Kerry (sp?) was especially outstanding. She had an enormous amount of knowledge of the area, including personal interest stories. She really made the tour come to life. This was one of the most interesting and enjoyable 3 hours we have spent in our travels. We will look for tours like this again. . |

We were hesitant to book the tour- we thought we had had hot dogs, pizza beer before- how different could it be, right? But booked we did- and THOROUGHLY enjoyed our tour. The food was delicious, the tour guide was fun and entertaining. You are served a full portion at each stop (except the last)- so be warned- you will be full! Each stop offers a fresh and yummy item.
The iced hot chocolate- OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The icream stop was delicious, but they only serve you about about a tablespoon of ice cream. Now you're full, but still, a little more would be appreciated. Very high cool factor- watching them make ice cream from scratch.
Book it today- Its Great!! |

I would highly recommend the Bucktown/Wickerpark food tour. It was a great mix of wonderful food and information. Our guide, Kent was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Totally enjoyed it. My only wish would have been that we could have lingered a little longer in several of the places. |

The food was excellent and we learned a lot about the history of Chicago. Our tour guide Sophie was entertaining and informative and had a great attitude. She shared insteresting information about the restaurants, owners and the chefs. I had the best falafel I have ever eaten on this tour and had my first expereince of a Chicago style hot dog. The beverage from Hot Chocolate was amazing, words cannot describe how tasty it was. We even purchased a mix to take home to Columbus. Of my travel companions, only one of us had ever lived in Chicago. She said this was a great activity to do to experience the Chicago culture. She even learned a few things and discovered places she never knew about.
Two thumbs enthusiastically up for this tour. Next time we are in Chicago we plan on doing the Near North Food Tour. |
