A great way to spend an afternoon in Chicago

The tour was a great experience for everyone in our group. Our guide Kent was extremely knowledgable and provided lots of fun facts about the history, architecture, culture, and food of the area. The food was more than ample and quite delicious. I would warn picky eaters that much of the food is more appreciated by refined eaters and few choices are offered. My finicky 11 year old ate only the hot dog and ice cream, but still loved the tour. We will attend other food tours in the future and highly recommend this one.

This is the second food tour that I have been on with Chicago Food Planet Tours and while I enjoyed this tour I preferred the first one - River North/Gold Coast. We had an absolutely lovely day and got to see quite a bit of architecture and learn the history of the area which was great. Regarding the food- surprisingly too much. The stops were not as interesting and the falafel sandwich while nice to try was simply too much and not something everyone cared for. Would suggest that it be halved. High point was Hot Chocolate and Icream. We went back to Hot Chocolate and ran into quite a few people from our tour there. If you have never done a food tour- it is a definite must but I would recommend their original tour River North/Gold Coast as the one to take.

Great food and historical perspective of Chicago

Highly recommend. Great to have local food fare that Chicago is famous for. Enjoyed the fact we could see part of the city, enjoy the food and also receive information about the city/neighborhoods. Chicago Food Planet does a great job. Will definitely go on a future food tour on my next visit.

Fantastic, delicious and FUN!

I already knew my Bucktown/Wicker Park Tour was going to be great, I booked it over a month in advance of the trip because my foodie friend recommended it so highly (thank you beth i.!) What better way to explore a neighborhood than with a local, i'm talking real local who actually lives in the 'hood and patronizes all of the businesses we stopped to taste? Kent was an amazing guide, gave us not only the lowdown on all the delicious and FILLING food we ate (these midwesterners really know how to eat...which makes me wonder if Kent has a tapeworm, how the hell is this guy so skinny?) but all the fun facts about all the places we passed along the way. From architecture and history to random fun facts about even the current owners of the now multi-million dollar homes on the streets surrounding Wicker Park... with the exception of the freezing cold temperature (gimme a break, i'm from Hawaii) this is the best walk and progressive meal i've ever had. I also assumed from taking a glance at the stops we'd be taking at least a few of the SIX stops would be just "filler" stops, something to take up time and stomach space ... not this tour! I can honestly say each and every stop we ate something i'd go back for (in fact, we spent the rest of the day in the area after the tour and tried to go back to Piece for dinner and Kent was right, place was packed to the max and we couldn't get in!) 1. Georges - Chicago dog, DON'T add mustard!! 2. Hot Chocolate - signature drink with a house-made marshmallow 3. The Goddess & Grocer - a veggie mediteranean salad 4. Piece - TO DIE FOR New Haven-style pizza 5. iCream - custom-ice cream frozen by liquid nitrogen I don't think i'd have made it very far out of the Loop if it wasn't for this tour so THANK YOU for such an awesome (and thankfully not cheesy) experience, an enthusiastic five stars!!

My husband and I very much enjoyed the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour, and we can't wait to do the other two tours next spring or summer! Our guide, Kent, was very friendly, engaging, and enthusiastic; you can tell he enjoys the tours as much as we didl! During the course of the 3-hour tour, we were never bored or disappointed. Kent was very knowledgable about the neighborhoods, history, etc. And although the wind and rain started to kick it up a notch toward the end, he never let that dampen his (or our) spirits, and we just kept on going! I expected a little bit of a disappointment in the food (hot dog, hot chocolate ... really?) ... boy, was I wrong!! At every stop, the food was amazing, and the portions were very generous (I thought it would be a small "taste" portion ... actually, I was thankful that we had to so some walking between the stops!) Definitely take this tour ... whether you're in town from far away, or consider yourselves "Chicagoans" like us (we live about 50 miles from the city). DO IT ... you won't be disappointed!

Kent was our guide and did a great job! He even made a cold and wet day alot of fun. The food choices were varied and delicious. Enjoyed hearing about the owners of the places we visited. The cultural part of the tour was interesting too. It was a nice reprise from downtown Chicago and a great way to see a different part of the city. I have been telling my friends to put it on their list of things to do while visiting Chicago. A favorite part of our trip!

Not for Inclement Weather

The tour was somewhat informative and the food was pretty good, but we dropped out early because it was cold, windy and rainy and the tour guide insisted that most of the tour be conducted outdoors. It is probably a good experience when the weather is nice, but if the guide is unwilling to deviate from the agenda, it is not the best choice for less-than-perfect weather.

I really enjoyed the eateries we visited, and the quantity of food was great!!! We even had a little beer taste. I took the other tour close to downtown, and loved it as well. These tours are giving me the food tour bug, I'll have to look food tours up in my city now!

Fun way to have lunch!!

I took my daughter, who lives in Chicago on this tour. Although she had been to many of the bars in the area, she had not tried the restaurants. I think she would go back to a couple of them. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon and get lunch, interesting guide-really knew the area, nice people on the tour and great food!!
