Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tasting & Cultural Tour

I really enjoyed the historical part and the details about the homes in the area. The person I was with, though, was dissapointed about this portion of the tour. I think the way to keepthat dissapointment down would be to advertise that this is a food and history or food and architectural tour. I loved it, but it needs to be expected. Someone who is just expecting food doesn't want to walk around and learn about the other stuff. The tour guide was knowledgable, friendly and delivered the information well. I am very excited to bring my fiance and other family to this same tour.

My girlfriends and I (all from Chicago) absolutely loved learning more about Bucktown and Wicker Park. Our tour guide (Nicole) was excellent!! She was very freindly and knowledgable. The food was delicious (especially the hot chocolate and the homemade marshmallows). I would definitely recomend this tour, and we are considering taking the China Town tour as well :)

This tour was a great way to spend a morning, especailly for someone travelling alone for a business trip. All of the places we visited were very different from each other and they were all really great. I loved the restaurant Hot Chocolate and I was pleasantly surprised that they offered so much more than just the deliciously silky hot chocolate that they are famous for. I was also surprised at how much I loved the falafel at Sultan's Market as I have never really cared for falafel in the past. This falafel is hands down the best! I loved the fresh cucumber and tomato salad, the delicious hummus and most of all the delicate and lightly crispy falafel all neatly packed in pita bread. I didn't really expect to like the Chicago style hot dog, but I was wrong. It was soooo good! I especially liked the hot pepper, mustard and celery salt. George's Hot Dogs are the best! iCream was so cool. This custom made ice cream made with liquid nitrogen technology was scrumptious and it had such an uniquely silky smooth texture. At Piece we got to sample beer made on premises and some of Chicago's thin crust pizza. This was right up my alley as I love thin crust pizza! Chicago Food Planet has a really good relationship with the restaurants and shops on their tour and all of the people we met were very welcoming and were excited to have us try their delectable food and treats. In addition to sampling al of the delicious food and drink, our tour guide was so nice and provided us with really interesting info. about these Chicago neighborhoods, the architecture and the history of many of the eateries that we walked past. I had so much fun that I couldn't wait to revisit many of these places 2 days later. On my own, I had a fantastic breakfast including: a light and fluffy quiche, warm cinnamon doughnuts and cappucino at Hot Chocolate. I also did some shopping at Goddess and Grocer, buying some Chicago made treats and some of their fantastic cupcakes. Happily, I was also able to take advantage of the money saving coupons we were given on the tour. Needless to say, I would definitely recommend this tour! It is a great way to get to know a new city, its restaurants and its people.

There was plenty of food. We left feeling stuffed. The amount of walking was just right. You had time to digest food between the last few stops. This is a great activity for locals and tourists.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and I think it helped that she actually lived in Bucktown. The places on the tour were thoughtfully selected and all were excellent. They seemed to represent the area well, a good cross section of places. Not one stop was a dud. The food was outstanding and you get plenty to eat. We have been on other food tour in other cities and this tour by far offered the best tasting food and gave you good portions. We will definitely go back.

Hello Carrie , our guide , is very energetic , despite the temperature around 25 and made the tour very interesting even for our 2 13 old boys ( that s a miracle ! ) The combination of 6 very different restaurant + the historical part made this lunch unforgettable a must William

We really enjoyed a double date with our friends tasting different local foods. Our tour guide Gina was fantastic and there was a great variation of food and local interests. My husband enjoyed the architecture tour as much as the food. Highly recommended to anyone even locally who wants a fun way to explore the different tastes of their town.

The food was excellent. The highlight for me was the hot chocolate which was the best I've ever tasted. Our guide Kent was great with his knowledge of the area and history of the restaurants. Would highly reccomend it.
