The Bucktown/Wicker Park food and cultural tour was phenominal. What an interesting way to spend a few hours. My family and I enjoyed every moment. You get a bunch of food (almost too much) but I guess that is better than not enough. Our guide was very enthusiastic and pleasant. Every stop was prepared for our arrival and allowed for seating. I was not familiar with this area of Chicago so it was nice to try something new. The tour was easy to get to by cab ($13.00 from downtown for 4 people) or by the El train ($9.00 one way for 4). There is some great shopping in the area if you want to spend more time there. |

Bucktown/Wicker Park is a great area and one that I as a tourist would not have gone to on my own. That and the idea of a food tour made this a no brainer for me and I was not disappointed. The area is great and the tour was really good. Our guide, Kent, was interesting and enthusiastic and really loved the area of town, which made the tour even better. The food is heavy, much more than I needed, but it is generally really good. The only thing I thought was not very interesting was the falafel stop. It was a cute restaurant, but the falafel were mediocre at best with no sauce or flavor. Other than that the food was good. My favorite things about the day were the hotdogs and the architecture! If there was a third tour, I would be sure to do that one too! |

Great guide. She knew the facts on all of the places we saw. Fun attitude.
This tour does offer plenty of food. The samples are very generous. No need
for breakfast that day, nor a large dinner that night. Neighborhood portion of
the tour was very interesting with a lot of historical information, and beautiful
houses to see. Not recommended for young children. Must be comfortable
walking or standing for most of three hours. I highly recommend this tour
for all "foodies" and anyone interested in learning more about these Chicago
neighborhoods. |

We had a great time! We had a relative in from out of town. We did a lot of touristy things during the week and this sounded different. Our group had two kids, one 13, one 17. I don't recommend this tour for young children. I think they might get bored. Teens are fine, especially if they're into food.
Some out of towners on our tour did this their last full day. That seems a shame because you might want to come back and try some restaurants that are on the tour or others the guide mentioned.
As a local, I really enjoyed the tour and I loved the fact that the guide gave a lot of info about other restaurants not on the tour. Although I live in the suburbs, I already went back to try Toast, which was mentioned on our tour. It lived up to the description.
Anyway, this was a fun way to see a local neighborhood and get a feel for what makes Chicago great. It is a window into how the locals live. It would balance out all the typical touristy Chicago things that one might do here. |

After going on the Gold Coast/Lincoln Park tour one day, we decided that we had enjoyed it so much that we would take this tour the next day. We were not disappointed!
Our guide, Jess, was friendly, funny, and informative. The selection of food stops was varied and, I felt, very representative of the neighborhoods we were in. This tour is a wonderful choice for everyone including families as all the stops offered tastings that would appeal to all ages.. The history and architecture were fascinating and it was great fun to learn about two more of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods! We would highly recommend this activity! |

We did the Wicker Park/Bucktown food tour and really enjoyed it. My sis was visiting from Florida and I have been living in Chicago for about 6 months, so we decided to explore a different area of the city. Our guide was Kent, and he was a wealth of information on the neighborhoods we walked through. He was actually a Wicker Park resident so gave us great insight into the history of the area. The stops on the tour were nicely spaced out with walking so you weren't constantly eating. A few of the stops seemed a little rushed but overall it was a good pace. Also, the order of the stops was great, going from savory to sweet, beverages and foods, and of course ending with iceceream!!
This tour was worth the money, you learn fun history and the food was very tasty! |
