Excellent Tour!

My husband and I took this tour with our 3 teenage girls. We all enjoyed it! It was a great way to see and learn more about the city of Chicago, all the while enjoying the wonderful food options Chicago has to offer. We returned to 2 of the locations to purchase items after the tour. Next visit to Chicago we would like to do another food tour!

Having been to Chicago many times over the last twenty years from the Toledo, Ohio area, we are always looking for something different. This tour was it. Our guide was friendly, informative, fun, aware of some participants limitations and delta with them with out holding others back. Stops were interesting, we learned something new and interesting at each. The highlight for us was the World of Oil store, the lowlight was the deli. At the deli we made our own Ruben sandwiches, bread was only average and pastrami was very fatty and stringy.

Sisters outing

This walking tour was recommended to us by an acquaintance. My sister and I decided to try it on our recent get-away to Chicago for my birthday. I have been on other architectural tours, but this included food sampling. Win-win! Our guide, Hillary, was knowledgable, entertaining yet professional. The stops were well-planned for variety, the samples delicious, and plenty for lunch. Although it was extremely hot and we kept moving the 3 hours, there were times to sit and get out of the sun also. It was interesting to get into other neighborhoods and receive information about the architecture. Yes, we could have planned our own "tour," but sometimes you just need to pamper yourself. Each restaurant/store was ready for our visit. We found the tour to be a delight and one of the highlights of this trip.

My husband and I are foodies. We love good food and love to cook. The tour didn't disappoint. The entire journey as we walked through neighborhoods and learned more about Chicago as well as the well chosen and interesting food stops was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend it!

We took an architecture river tour and this is where we heard about the taste and history walking tour of Chicago. I would never have thought to look at this, because I have two teenagers and would not think this would be of an interest to them. Boy was I wrong. My children loved this tour and rated it one of the top three things we did in Chicago. Thanks for making this experience a highlight of our summer. Nikki was our tour guide and she did an exceptional job!

Great Tour--super tour director

This is a great tour and we had a super tour director. Food Information on tour was interesting. Architectural information was a bonus. Would suggest not ending the tour so far from the beginning. Makes it difficult to go back and shop at the tasting locations. Would have liked a better pizza choice--spinach not a fave of our group.

Began at Ashenkaz deli made Rueben sandwich with pastrami. Our guide Chris was great, but the staff at the deli was cold and made us feel as if we were in their way. Next to Tea shop, great ice tea and the best information from an individual store. The remainder of the stores our guide only discussed. WOuld have been nice to have that happen in each stop. Only negative was the other clerk who was a little rude and then yelling to someone on the phone. Tour thru the goldcoast and old town districts was nice and Chris did a good job of pointing out places and describing their history. Spice shop was great, what a wonderful aroma, so many good tastes. Oild and vinegar shop my least fav, but my girlfriend loved it. Fudge pot was great too, love chocolate and toffee, mmmm. Pastry shop fantastic also. The pizza at bacinos was marvelous. Amazed at how quick the time went by and very stisfied with the food and tastes. Would do it again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anybody, very unique experience. Truly enjoyed the progressive dining experience.

Plan to take the other tour when in town next time
Mon, Aug 9, 10   11:00 AM NancyMorton Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
I booked the tour and my boyfriend, who has lived in Chicago several times in his life, was not very enthusiastic about it. Even though it was a hot and humid day, the tour was interesting and informative. I really learned a lot and my boyfriend has recommended it to our friends and wants to take the other tour next time we are in Chicago. Our tour guide, Chris, was very engaging and had a wealth of information. It is a very "hands on" way of seeing the area.
