I would highly recommend this activity to anyone. Whether you live in the city, suburbs, or out of town, this tour helps give a feel of being a local, at least for a few hours! Love the attention to neighborhood history, architecture, and even some urban lore. Our guide Lauren was fantastic! I would love to take the Wicker park your next year!

We attended the tour with our 14 month old in a stroller. Most places were not equipped to handle a large stroller, but we did ok. We were by far the youngest in the group but that seems to be typical for us :). We are big foodies and cook a lot. We both really enjoyed seeing the neighborhoods and the spice and oil shops the best.

Our group was eagerly anticipating the Food Tour. Of course, we understood that if we needed to cancel we were out of luck. Our luck ran out. The morning of the tour brought locally heavy thunderstorms and loss of power in our area. A call to Zerve resulted in only a voice mailbox. We have had no follow-up. We maybe would have tried again, but at this point that is highly unlikely.

Surprisingly Great!

Though we did not have a lot of detail upfront before the tour, this was one of our favorite things we did in Chicago! It was a surprising delight! Very interesting, food was terrific, our guide was really fun! My only suggestion would be to add a stop between the 6th and 7th . . . . it was a rather long walk toward the end of the tour without a stop to break it up.

Our teenage male exchange student had the idea to do the (north) food tour. It seemed a little pricey, but was probably fair. Tour lasted about 3 hours. Our guide was knowledgeable about the establishments we visited and has interesting information about some of the houses/buildings and sites along the way. I was surprised that both my husband and student enjoyed it as did I. It was a long walk, but at a good pace and not strenuous.

Some friends and I were looking for something a little different to try in the city and were all very pleased with the Near North Food Tasting tour. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and seemed genuinly excited to introduce us to the little gems we visited. We also enjoyed the non-food related neighborhood and Chicago history that she threw in along the way. The pace of the tour was great, not too fast or too slow. We are already talking about signing up for another tour!

Besides the great selection of culinary treats, our tour guide was very entertaining and bursting with information. Great way to see Old Town and Lincoln Park. Also, much preferred to the large crowds dowtown at Taste of Chicago.

My parents were in town from Ohio and we all enjoyed the history and food very much. Even though I have lived in Chicago for seven years, I was able to learn a lot!

Best Tour in Chicago

Our family of 10, including children ages 9-13, thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We learned a lot at each of the tastings, and wish we had these stores in our respective neighborhoods. It's also a great tour to learn about the history of Chicago, the architecture, and its Gold Coast and Old Town neighborhoods. Highly recommend it! And, will sign up for the Bucktown tour next time we visit!
