The food was spectacular. I really enjoyed the tour guides knowledge of how food is prepared and her understanding of chicago history. I'm going on another tour with my text trip to Chicago.

We really enjoyed the tour by seeing things we normally might walk by in the city. There was traditional deep dish pizza and sandwhich but what made this tour great was the different shopd we went to. The Spice House was a great experience to see that spice does make life better a good/fresh spices are much better than those found in your local grocery. The Tea shop was also very nice a very informative. Liked the chocolate shop as well. It was nice to see traditional Mom and Pops rather than a bunch of chains. Our tour guide was very informative and was very bubbly and made the journey very fun. The whole group had a great time and we were able to walk off the food as did our tour.

A Must Do While in Chicago

We've been coming to Chicago off an on for ten years and this tour is hands down one of the coolest things we've done. Our tour guide, Martha I think, was fantastic, and it's not just a food tour, all of the information on the history and architecture was really interesting. You see a slice of Chicago that you wouldn't normally see. The oils place where you test oils and vinegars is awesome and the first stop at the deli was the best reuben I've ever had - and I lived in New York!!

Never having been to Chicago before my friend and I were not sure what to expect from the tour. When I registered us I shared that there were severe food allergies to consider. Our tour guide had other tasting options ready and prepared so we did not need to worry at all. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the neighborhoods we visited and the foods we were served. We were provided plenty to eat - it was certainly a lunch full amount! I also learned a lot about tea, spices, the history of foods were were served and had a great time. Being into good foods and fun - this was a highlight of my time in the Windy City!

We had a terrific time. The amount of food, the number of places visited, the history of the city highlighted, the knowledge of the guide, the amount of walking were all wonderful. We had a great time. Ashkenaz and Fudge Pot were my favorites. Thanks for a fun time! One quick point though, it'd be great if the guide counted the participants when leaving each place. One time she just did a quick visual of the group and said, "That's everyone. Let's go." and my Mom was still in the bathroom.

Kent was a great host. We have done two tours - Bucktown/Wicker park previously and enjoyed both very much. Looking towards the Chinatown tour next time in town.

We had a great time time on our Near North food tour. Jess, our guide, was knowledgeable about the area and the food we ate/tasted! This was a nice way of seeing things in Chicago we wouldn't have seen on our own! We highly recommend this tour!

Way too heavy at the beginning
Sun, Jun 10, 12   11:00 AM bibysha1 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
The first two tastings, a half reuben sandwich that was way too big to get in my mouth, followed by a whole slice of deep dish sausage pizza was way too much too fast. With such a large volume of food in a short time, it was difficult to enjoy each individually. With a heavy stomach, the walk was less enjoyable. The tea sampling was refreshing. The spice and oil/vinegar shop were interesting, but nothing special as anyone off the street could have the same experience without cost. Pastries were good. The tour guide was nice, but not from the area or familiar with the neighborhood beyond the script. The tour was further compromised as it occurred during a crowded street festival, making things a little tense. I do recommend their other tours in Bucktown/Wicker Park and Chinatown. These tours are more even-paced with neighborhood experts that are really from the neighborhood.
