our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the neighborhoods that we went through, which was a good thing. We did a lot of walking but there were a lot of those wonderful food stoped on the way. I liked every shop we went to, and I wouldn't change the tour at all. |

The food tour was a change of pace. We thoroughly enjoyed the blend of food tasting, Chicago history and architectural highlights. The spice and oil shops were fantastic as were the chocolate shops. We went back and purchased spices and oils to take home for future gourmet meals cooked by my 13 year old. Great idea. Bring it to the Twin Cities. |

We wanted to get off the beaten path, but weren't quite sure which direction to go. We did this tour the first day and went back to Old Town a couple more times before we left to try the restaurant recommendations. We were very pleased both with our guide and the information we got. The residential neighborhoods you walk through are really beautiful. Our guide mentioned the possible addition of another route coming soon, and we will definitely check it out the next time we go to Chicago. |

Our guide Emily was very friendly and informative. The foods we sampled were
very good and even tough our feet hurt by the end, we were very glad to have selected the tour as one of the ways we got to experience Chicago. |

The tour was outstanding. Our guide, Emily, knew a tremendous amount of information about landmarks on the walking tour as well as the food that we actually tasted.
The variety of food for tasting was perfect. I think our tour time went over a bit beyond the slated timeframe, but no one seemed to mind. The different locations chosen for the tastings were all very receptive to us and treated us well. The all had the tastings prepared upon our arrival.
All the food/drink/spices that were offered were excellent. I will bring all of my out of town guests on this tour and I will likely make purchases from the vendors in the near future.
The tour materials were great - especially the coupons.
My only criticism is the fact that it is a little complicated to get back to where we started, but we decided to walk and the map was helpful. |

I enjoyed this tour very much. I loved the variety of shops and food tastings. Also, our guide, Jennifer, also taught us the history of the different neighborhoods we walked through on the way to each next stop on our tour.
And, the price made this a good bargain,too.
I lived in Chicago years ago and came back this time as a "tourist". Myself and many other locals that were on the tour all learned a lot about our town's history and the many ethnic foods our town has to offer.

Our guide, Jennifer, was fantastic...our tour was a REAL learning lesson about Chicago's history, culture, restaurants, foods....and instead of lasting 3 hrs., it was almost 4. It was a fabulous experience and my sister and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have an amazing time and learn alot!!! |

We're locals, from the north suburbs, but decided to "vacation" downtown in the city. We recommend this tour to everyone. It's an informative and tasty way to see the neighborhoods. I loved the stops we made, mostly local family businesses, very knowledgeable and passionate about their product.
We'll return to all of them to shop. Great way to spend part of the day. |

The tour was interesting. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it. Some of the stops were too trite (oil and vinegar was an entire stop so my boyfriend was not interested) but overall it was interesting and a good tour of the city. You only really 'eat' at one pizza place, the rest is more condiments, sweets, and snacks. The tour guide was enthusiastic and nice. Tips accepted. We walked through the drizzle, so don't wear jeans! |

I really enjoyed your tour as it was a way to personalize Chicago for me. I went by myself and I am in the food business so I really liked visiting different places, learning, having a cool experience around food plus be with a group. I don't mind traveling alone but I don't like going to a restaurant alone so this was great way to sample things, walk around, and learn about the city at the same time.
Few things: the tea place was a nice surprise...it didn't seem like much from the outside but the inside and the talk was great...however, the gal that gave the talk could have been more professional looking. She had a t-shirt on (all rumpled) that had some kind of logo and style a young teenager would wear. She was in her mid-twenties, her hair was unkempt, I think she had a lip ring or brow ring piercing...in short her outward presentation was distracting and frankly "looked dirty" -- I will say she spoke very well which in some ways added to the distraction because her "look" didn't match the well spoken, educated, informative talk. The other fella in the shop had long hair but he had a nice crisp green long sleeve shirt on (I'm fond of long sleeve shirts on anyone in retail and food service) . The oil and vinegar shop was wonderful -- no one besides Emily spoke -- if someone can, I think each shop should step up and say a little something.
The most frustrating thing was not having time to buy anything! As a shop owner I understand they would like to have folks come back but in my case, I had such a tight schedule - it just wasn't possible. If the shops could have had some kind of marketing thing where they would have a set of stuff to go it would have been perfect or how about having an order sheet - have the tour guide place the orders while we are having pizza and each shop bring the order to the last stop. I know I could order things but it seemed vague and not a great value to do so not to mention the hassle of traveling with it.
Here's something -- when I was on the Alaskan Railroad on a tour...their gift shop on the train had a deal where no matter how much you bought or how little it was a $5 flat rate to send anything anywhere. I don't know how they worked that deal with whom but was a great selling point. Nearly everyone bought something and had it shipped home. |
