Thoroughly enjoyed this tour visiting many vendors that I normally would never see, i.e. spice shop. I really like the beet sauce and Reuben Sandwich at Askenaz deli and the spinach and mozarella cheese stuffed pizza. Jen was absolutely terrific with her knowledge of the area and history of Chicago. She puts so much enthusiasm and style to her tours. I will gladly return to Chicago and retake this tour as well as the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour again. thanks for the experience. Betty Walters

Our tour guide was Jen, she kept us entertained, fed and educated. Appreciated her comments regarding the 3 neighborhoods you pass thru on the tour. She got all of us involved during the tour, worked well introducing oursleves before we started the tour, she was great. The shops all nice and were all locally owned. Great Neighborhoods. At the "The Spice house" spot we had the chance to hear a presentation from the owner of the business, very informative. My wife and I had a great time - weather was perfect.

This tour was so informative, interesting & fun. Not only did we get to taste different foods, spices, oils & vinegars, but we learned about some of the neighborhoods. Our tour guide, Nicki, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about the areas and made the whole experience a fantastic time. Thank you Nicki.

Fun Way to Experience Chicago Food & Neighborhoods

My husband & I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Jen, was just wonderful! She gave us a lovely tour of three local neighborhoods, giving us bits of information on the history, architecture and local events in each. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic---you could tell she enjoys what she's doing and is a real "people person". The food was varied, interesting and enjoyable. We didn't get to go into the deli that day, as it was just before a holiday and they were exceptionally busy, but we got to sit on their patio and experience our first tasting---so good! I was a bit curious about the tea and oil shops, but those turned out to be two of our favorites! My husband is now drinking tea, thanks to what he learned and experienced that day (thanks, Abigail!). I learned so much in the oil shop about what is good, what I like---I would never have expected to learn so much there, or enjoy it so much! I was really impressed. The spice shop was quite interesting, even though I am not the cook in the family. The chocolate shop was every bit as wonderful as you would imagine, and Dave (I believe that's correct--the owner) was gracious and answered all questions patiently. It's nice to see family owned businesses. I enjoyed the pizza at the end, as well! Wear comfortable walking shoes, take your camera and enjoy! All in all, I would recommend this tour very highly!

Of all the tours that my gal pals & I did in Chicago, this was voted as our favourite. Our tour leader Jen was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and clearly loves her city. We had alot of fun sampling food, and all was good. We learned so much about teas, oils, chocolate making, Chicago pizza and as well, the history of Chicago, esp. the north side. It was well worth the time, and slightly sore feet! You will NOT be disappointed with this tour - guaranteed. Michelle from Ontario

This tour far exceded my expectations. The guide was fantastic and the food was delicious. There was a lot of variety in the types of stops on the tour. The neighborhoods that we walked through were beautiful and the guide was very knowledgable about them. I highly recomend this tour and will definately go on another tour by this company the next time I am in Chicago. I also wanted to mention that I went on the tour by myself b/c my husband was in Chicago on business and I still had a fantastic time. Do not miss this tour!

Enjoyable but a very long walk

There were 7 of us and 6 of us enjoyed it and 1 of us was not pleased with anything that we did. The stores and lectures were interesting and we really enjoyed the varity of the types of stores we visited. We thought we should have been offered bread at the oil shop so we could really get a taste of the oil and that we could have done some shopping at the stores we visited. I am sure the walking was a lot longer than the literature stated, we thought that the Lincoln Park part of the tour should be a tour by itself ,because it was so interesting but we had to hurry through it. I am not sure the tourist understood that they were in 3 different neighborhoods. Our guide Jennifer was great and really knew a lot about each neighborhood and could answer question that were asked. We also thought you could fine a nice pizza place in the Old Town area and make the tour for the Gold Coast and Old Town by itself. Most of us loved the tour and have given the info to many people, thanks for the informative and treats of the Windy City and State Street that great street tour.
