Gold Coast & Old Town Food Tour

I planned this tour as an anniversary gift for my boyfriend since we were vacationing in Chicago. Needless to say, he had a great time. Its perfect to do on a sunny day and to find hidden gems in Chicago that you would not usually expect to find as a tourist. My favorite was TeaGshwender (very informative), oil and vinegar tasting (very unique), Bacino's Pizza (sooo much better than Gino's East), and Ethel's Chocolate Lounge (very cute and charming--wish we had this back home in LA). If you are a first timer in Chicago, don't mind some walking, a definite foodie, and want to have a different but satisfyng experience then this tour is definitely for you.

We loved our guide. This was our first trip to Chicago and it was nice to move outside of downtown and learn about a couple of the neighborhoods. We loved the food, history and culture. You should work on having a couple of tour options.

We enjoyed the variety of eateries and the walk through the gorgeous and interesting Chicago neighborhoods.

This was a terrific tour. The stops, both restaurant/store visits and the architectural/history pauses, were extremely interesting. Nikki did a terrific job of weaving education and humor. Would definitely like to return with other family and friends.

We were the last group to purchase tickets. There were only 3 tickets left and we needed 4 tickets! They went out of their way to accommodate us! We very much appreciated it! The tour was phenominal! We would recommend it not only to visitors to Chicago, but to all locals as well!! We went into unique stores that we probably would never have found if we would have gone off on our own shopping trip! We also learned a tremendous amount about the history of Chicago and the buildings! Our tour guide Nikki was FANTASTIC!! Hopefully the company grows in leaps and bounds soon!! Amy Smock

Our group really enjoyed the ability to walk around the neighborhoods. The food tasting was fantastic and we returned later to share our favorite spots with a friend who couldn't go on the tour. Our most favorite stores were the Oil and Vinegar, Spice Merchant and the Tea shop, although we did enjoy each stop.

We were on a girl's weekend and could not have been more pleased with the tour. Our guide was very enthusiastic and gave us some great tips on restaurants and also the history of Chicago. The places that we visited we would never have found on our own.

My 18 year old niece and I took the tour. We both had a great time. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The sites were interesting. It was good to see a different part of Chicago. The food tastings were excellent.

I highly recommend this trip to anyone with a discerning palate who prefers to discover a city on foot -off the beaten path typically travelled by tourists. Our guide was exuberant and thoughtful injecting wit and history into our 3 hour tour of local flavors. I will definitely advise anyone arriving in chicago to check out Food Planet.
