Great way to see the city!

My husband and I tried the tour out on a whim after reading some positive reviews online. After experiencing it, we would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting the city! It gave us the opportunity to explore areas of Chicago that we normally would not have ventured to, and to learn about the history and the architecture behind these neighborhoods. Our tour guide, Jen, was FABULOUS! Her energy and true love for the city left us wanting to come back again! The shops we visited were off the beaten path and we went back to a few of them after the tour was over to do some shopping. Overall, a wonderful tour that is a great way to see Chicago!

This tour was fun, educational and just an overall great way to spend the day. Our tour guide was very well informed and delightful. Also, this is a fantastic way to learn more about Chicago and visit establishments you may not necessarily visit on your own! Sign up for this tour you will not regret it!!!

Our guide, Jess was terrific, enthusiastic, very knowledgeable about the products, the local history and architecture. The original brochure was attractive and caught my interest. The paperwork given us during the tour is very helpful, enabling us to return to the shops on our own time, mapping out the area and giving us local transportation options and area restaurants. Special food requirements were accommodated. Keep up the good work. If I had more time I would have taken the other 2 tours, Bucktown and Chinatown. I will recommend the Chicago Food Planet to friends.

We can't stop talking about it!

Taking the Near North Food Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour was one of the absolute best things we have ever done on vacation. We sampled delicious foods, learned new things, and had our senses stimulated in unexpected ways. We have been talking non-stop about it since our tour, and are recommending it to everyone as a MUST DO when in Chicago. Taking the other tour is tops on our list of things we will be doing during our next visit to Chicago!

We can't speak highly enough of this tour. It was extremely well organized, with a good balance of walking and tasting. The variety of food sampled was just right, too -- enough that we certainly didn't walk away hungry but not so much that we could barely move afterwards. Our guide, Shayne (not sure of the spelling), was great fun. Even as locals, we learned something new about the neighborhoods, and he kept everything lively and entertaining. Raves all around.

Great way to see Chicago Neighborhoods

Pros: Excellent guide. Loved the neighborhood information, the architectural knowledge, food descriptions and history. Great variety of food tastings. Cons: don't feel it was a very moderate walking pace, more of a quick pace. Quite strenuous for my 77 year old Mother who I feel is in pretty good shape.

My husband and I took this Chicago Food Tour in September and we had a wonderful time! Our tour guide was entertaining and informative, giving us a great insight on the food we tasted. The food was fantastic and it was a nice variety. No guilt about the food your eating, because you get your exercise walking. We will recommend this tour to our friends and family! Excellent way to learn about native Chicago!

Despite the rain, the experience was absolutely excellent. Kent expressed genuine enthusiam for all the places we visited, along with great information on neighbourhood history and events. The local merchants were unique -- none of which one would have come across as a casual tourist.... even local Chicagoans were on the tour, which says a lot about the experience. Our next visit to Chicago will likely have us back in Old Town further enjoying food at the merchants we visited; and also likely taking the other food tour as well! Definitely one of the top things we did on our long weekend get away in Chicago!
