Gold Coast & Old Town Food Tour

Enjoyed the food, the walk and the history of the city/neighborhoods. Our guide, Nicky, was very friendly and enthusiastic. Comments on the food stops: Deli - great rueben. A pickle to accompany it would have made it perfect. Tea - Not a tea drinker, but loved the drink. Would have preferred they offered the sweetener at the start. Spices - Very interesting. Would have liked to try a piece of food that you could add a spice to. For example, a piece of cooked chicken which you could sprinkle different spices on. Oil - Really enjoyed tasting the oils, but would have preferred some food (bread) to accompany it. Chocolate - Good. Pizza - Good, but could have been warmer.

This tour was the highlight of our trip. Rebecca was an EXCELLENT tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable about the different foods, the neighborhoods, and Chicago in general. This is a definite must while visiting. The 3 hours fly by. Not to mention a great date!

Began at Ashenkaz deli made Rueben sandwich with pastrami. Our guide Chris was great, but the staff at the deli was cold and made us feel as if we were in their way. Next to Tea shop, great ice tea and the best information from an individual store. The remainder of the stores our guide only discussed. WOuld have been nice to have that happen in each stop. Only negative was the other clerk who was a little rude and then yelling to someone on the phone. Tour thru the goldcoast and old town districts was nice and Chris did a good job of pointing out places and describing their history. Spice shop was great, what a wonderful aroma, so many good tastes. Oild and vinegar shop my least fav, but my girlfriend loved it. Fudge pot was great too, love chocolate and toffee, mmmm. Pastry shop fantastic also. The pizza at bacinos was marvelous. Amazed at how quick the time went by and very stisfied with the food and tastes. Would do it again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anybody, very unique experience. Truly enjoyed the progressive dining experience.

I booked the tour and my boyfriend, who has lived in Chicago several times in his life, was not very enthusiastic about it. Even though it was a hot and humid day, the tour was interesting and informative. I really learned a lot and my boyfriend has recommended it to our friends and wants to take the other tour next time we are in Chicago. Our tour guide, Chris, was very engaging and had a wealth of information. It is a very "hands on" way of seeing the area.

We took the near north tour last week and really enjoyed it. We had never heard of this tour before we found it on the internet so we decided to take a chance. Hilary was great. She made the walk fun and was very knowledgeable about the 3 neighborhoods we walked through. We liked her talks about the architecture and explanations of the various foods we tasted. Everything we tasted was delicious plus we learned things about tea, spices and oils that we did not know. It will probably change the way we cook. We may have to go back one of these days for the pizza and chocolate. It was a really nice way to spend the afternoon and would highly recommend the tour. The tour was really good and covered a lot of different types of foods and history. Our guide Aria was terrific. She was very enthusiastic, articulate and made the experience all that much better. In addition to the food I also really enjoyed the history of the areas and what we were tasting. I like to learn as I am entertained and this tour really did that. You have a super tour guide in Aria!

The whole tour was great! The guide was just wonderful, and you could tell that she really enjoyed giving the tour as much as we did taking the tour. She also gave us lots of information only someone with lots of time in the city would know. I would recomment this tour to anyone!!!!

I love learning in more depth about the things I am seeing (and eating)! Our guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The three hours passed quickly and we had the opportunity to sample many kinds of food.

I found this tour to be very educational and it was also fun. I liked most of the things we tried and would like to try all of the different tours offered. The only thing I didn't care too much for was the fact that we had to walk all the way there and catch a cab back. Other than that, it would be a great daytime date or fun with friends while visiting.

We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food sites we visited as well as the local neighborhoods, points of interest, and architecture. The tour provided a good variety of foods and satiated our appetites without filling us up.
