I really enjoyed this tour. I felt that I learned a lot about early Chicago and discovered some gems along the way. The food was very tasty, the oil and spice shops were pleasant surprises, and the final bakery is definitely one of my favorite confection shops I've been to. Kent, our guide, is really knowledgeable and narrates the tour very well. This tour is perfect for tourists and locals alike. I would recommend this to anyone. |

My group enjoyed the Near North Food Tour very much. Our guide was very knowledgable and enthusiasitc, and she was always available to answer questions or give you more information as needed. We enjoyed getting a guided tour through some of Chicago's neighborhoods we might not have otherwise visited. The food was great, too! |

Heather was great. My husband and I live in Michigan and had friends with us from the UK.
We all enjoyed it and it was great for us to experience a new side of Chicago from the usual tourist sites.
Would recommend to anyone not on a diet and will likely try one of their other tours next time we're in town with friends. |

An unique approach to viewing an unfamiliar city. Enjoyed interacting with others on the tour all of whom were residents of Illinois. We are from the west coast and definitely benefited from the small group. The high energy docent encouraged conversation when appropriate. Good choice/blend of shops/restaurants. The information we collected will transfer back to California, if not the precise products. |

I met up with family, also from out of town, for a birthday celebration for 3 out of 5 of us. The walking historical tour was as stimulating to my senses as the food was. I recommend you allowing about 3.5 hours for this tour as it is a walking tour - it only moves as fast as you do! |

My 22 year old daughter recently moved to Lincoln Park, so during a visit in July I scheduled this tour to better acquaint her (and a friend from the area who joined us) with the neighborhood. As it turned out, the tour was on an excrutiatingly HOT day (100 degrees heat index)... and the fact that we all enjoyed this as much as we did is compelling testimony for the itinerary and content - and even more, for the unbelievable unflagging energy and total professionalism and knowledge of our awesome guide, Alia. Thank you Alia ! She provided much valued insight that far exceeded my expectations. I compare this favorably to similar tours that I've taken (New York City, for example) and highly recommend it. The spice stop was an unexpected favorite... and the chocolate... and the pizza! Yum and thanks. |

We truly enjoyed our food & walking tour of Chicago with Chicago Food Planet. My husband & I enjoyed the tour even more our second time around! This time we brought our niece (12 years old) & our sister. All of us loved the history of Chicago & LOVED the food! Our tour guide, NICKI TADER was fantastic!! She was just awesome & made the tour so much fun! My favorite parts were the Chicago spinach stuffed pizza & the Spice House. We even went back to purchase a few spices. It rained that morning & looked a little gloomy, however Nicki said "it never rains on my tours" & we had the most spectacular day with sunshine! What a great way to spend an afternoon with your loved ones eating delicious food in our great city of Chicago!!! :) |

My husband & I live in Chicago in Greektown. I took him on the tour for his birthday & we both absolutely loved the tour! It was a beautiful, perfect day and a wonderful walk through all the neighborhoods. Our guide NICKI TADER was awesome. She was full of energy, very knowledgeable and very funny. We loved her. We enjoyed learning more of the history of Chicago. We have already been back to the tea shop to purchase some of the teas we tried on the tour. The food tasting was an additional perk & our favorite was the pizza from Bacino's. You can't beat Chicago pizza! I would definitely recommend this tour to my family & friends. Have fun in our beautiful city of Chicago!! |

Three of my sisters and I attended this walk on Friday, May 17th. We had an awesome time. The tour was very informative both about the food but also along the neighborhoods where we walked. The buildings and flowers were absolutely beautiful which was a nice surprise since we didn't know what to expect. We really didn't have a favorite spot we visited since they were all a different experience. |

We really enjoyed the tour and our guide, Jennifer, was terrific! This was our first visit to Chicago and we love to walk around and get a vibe for the area and eat at local places.
We did a similar tour last year in New York, Greenwich Village - so we wanted to do a food tour in Chicago since they are well known for great restaurants.
The stops on the Near North tour were good, and the food samples were good. It is a "stretch" to call it a food tour with a tea store, spice store and oil/vinegar store on the list of places to visit. The only real food samples were at the Jewish deli and the pizza place. The candy store was good and we got to sample English Toffee. The proprietor interacted with us, brought us behind the counter and demonstrated making candy.
The employee at the tea store was very informative, too.
Our tour guide, Jennifer, is passionate about her work, and really made a great effort to tell us interesting information about the area. She also helped us decide on other things to do with our remaining time in Chicago.
I would recommend this tour to friends. |
