TOO HOT FOR A LONG WALK!
Wed, Aug 22, 07   11:00 AM LynneRodrig Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
The tour itself was interesting and fun. However, it was 94 degrees out that day (felt like 104) and it was just way too much walking in that heat. The tour should have been adjusted due to the heat. The heat made it miserable!

quite delightful

was quite nice- loved the spice shop & vinegar/ oil shop. best was the individual info sessions at each store- especially if the owner presented this. I liked the whole idea of the tour also. would like to suggest: 1). maps of where we went - not only so can return, but to find our way back to the stores later. 2) maybe dont go quite as far- the last 2 stops nice- but tour ran over & if it would have been any hotter or rainier- would have been too much ( a bit long as it was) Maybe divide the area up into 2 separate tours then so not so far to go then be left faway from the starting area 3) pizzza stop was good- BUT- best for tourists to have the "Chicago" deep dish pizza- this is what people love (& only 1 piece needed as I know its filling)- the deep dish is so classic "Chicago" to tourists (I visit Chi often & our friends seem to think a stop for this is needed..) 4) Would GREATLY enrich the tour if more history/ info of the buildings we walk by -- the nteresting/ unusual ones- would be researched more & MORE info given on them/ thier history- love that extra info!!- please look into this. Cram as MUCH info into the tour as you can- we love history/ background! 5) Also, can be hard to hear the guide unless you are right next to him--he did do a good job of giving extra info informally IFasked things- but only the people in front could hear these extra things-- (& these were the things that could help enrich the tour)- SO it would also be highly recommended to have him wear an Audio device that he speaks into & us wear receivers for the ears to hear- like they do at Disneyworld on tours (maybe check into this)- best to bring an extra transmitter as I know Disney has some trouble with these always being in good working condition. This way ALL can hear ALL the time & much more relaxing to stroll along/ people do not have to be in a crush to hear all bunched up- especially with traffic noise- makes it SO much easier & pleasant!

A great walk with talk and treats

A great way to find out about a lovey section of Chicago for a foodie. Our guide was enthuiastic, knowledgable and fun. He did everything in his power to make it an interesting and informative tour also ensuring that all our needs were met. The tour did overrun by almost an hour, not that anyone noticed! My daughter and I had just the best time. We visited an interesting cross section of stores with the owners on site to talk to us in most cases. The walk in between all the stores was lovely and we enjoyed learning about this section of Chicago.

We had a great time on our tour of Chicago with our tour guide Nicki. We ate a lot of great food and had amazing chocolate from the 2 chocolate stores...luckily this was a walking tour so the calories don't count. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to find some great hidden gems of restaurants and shops off the beaten path and learn about Chicago and history along the way.

I loved our tour! We took the great advice of scheduling it the first full day we arrived. The stops were so great because you got to meet the owners at many of them, and we learned so much about what goes into producing fresh, quality foods, oils, and spices! Our guide was sweet, friendly, and an interesting person. She made the time fly by with stories and bits of information. Despite the rain, it was very well worth doing! The walking was not overwhelming either. I'm in my 8th month of pregnancy, and found the pace and small breaks for snacks made it very manageable. This was one of the best tours my husband and I have taken! *Loved the coupons, too! we went back to 4 of the "stops" later on our own and made good use of them!

THIS WAS FUN

This tour was fun. It is a little misleading in the advertising though. We had fun, but thought the tour would include more ethnic food establishments. One chocolate place would have been enough. We would reccommend this tour. If you are looking for a " food tour", don't expect to be eating your way through chicago. There are stops at a spice house, a tea shop, and an oil shop. Only 2 real food establishments

I went on the tour with my mother - it was her birthday present. I am 35 years old, she is 72. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day! Being lifetime Chicago-area locals, it opened up a new world to us! Discover secret (and not-so-secret) gems of the city! It's an enjoyable outing no matter what your age or origin. Nicky (our guide) was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The tour was well organized. We highly recommend it.

Walking & eating - the perfect balance!

An easy walk through Chicago's Gold Coast and Old Town neighborhoods with a knowledgeable guide who gave us the inside dish on sites along the way like the original Playboy mansion, the steel-box house, and the Viagra Triangle. And the food! Not just nibbles, oh no, we're talking good-sized delish samples - enough to keep you moving right along. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and give this tour a hearty recommendation. We'll be back again.
