We spent a wonderful morning with Hilary as she took us to a variety of interesting and varied spots in the near north area of Chicago. What a terrific introduction to the city. We had a number of very interesting and delicious things to eat along the way and learned a lot about the neighbourhoods we walked through. Hilary is very knowledgeable and fun to be with. The weather was pretty crappy, but Hilary kept us pumped up with her enthusiasm. We've already recommended this tour to a number of people we met along the way, including the Chicago greeter we met on Sunday. Please pass on our thanks to Hilary for a great morning.

My mom and I took this tour in May 2011 when she was in town for a day before a conference. I chose the Near North tour because it's closer to where I live than the Bucktown one, and it went to places I had actually never been to in my past year of living in Chicago. Quick breakdown: - Tour Overall: Great! - Tour Guides: Knowledgeable and fun! - Tastings: Delicious! Some quick (random) notes: - We stopped at 7 different locations. Most were pretty close - the walk between the last two was the longest. - Tasting at 5 locations was a great size. At the Spice House you only sample some cinnamon, and at Old Town Oil you take mini-shots of oil/vinegar mixes. One of the tastings is a drink, but it was 16oz and refreshing. - Along the walk, the guides point out historic sites and give interesting info even locals might not know. - The staff at each tasting location was very helpful and gave additional info and was glad to answer questions. Overall, I thought this tour was great! The food was delicious, and I discovered some places I'll be going back to. Quite an enjoyable way to spend 3.5 hours!

Loved everything about it. Each stop was very interesting and tasty. The walking was not for the faint-hearted but we knew that in advance. I would do it again and have already recommended it to several friends.

My kids, ages 8, 11 and 13 like active, guided tours but I was not sure how interested they would be in some of the foodie shops on the tour that cater more to adults. The kids review was unanimous; the LOVED this walking tour! Jess's dialogue was as interesting to them as it was to the adults, they got to learn about our great city and try unique foods we would never had tried on our own. If you are looking for a learning experience for your kids, this would be great to try!

We were very impressed with every aspect of the tour. The variety of places we stopped at were so great. Places I probably would never have noticed if not for this tour. We enjoyed them so much we went back and shopped at four of the sevem places. Our tour guide was very knowledgable of the local area and it was very interesting to hear about the different neighborhoods and achitecture, and she made fun as well. Our group had a great time!

My 2d Zerve food tour -- as fabulous as the 1st!

There's nothing else like a walking food tour. You get to meet interesting people from all over; you taste wonderful food, sometimes for the first time; you discover new shops; and you learn about local architecture and history. Oh, and you get exercise at the same time! The Near North food tour was fabulous -- as was our guide -- and the food stop that I thought I'd like the least was the one I enjoyed the most. My boyfriend and I had the best time. Not only do we recommend the food tours, but we'd absolutely do another.
