Chinatown Food Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour

We sat down and ate at. 3 restaurants. We experienced the different regions of china.tour guide was excellent and gave a good history of each region.

Another fantastic tour from Chicago Food Planet! We spent a beautiful Sunday morning trying a variety of Chinese cuisines, tea, and dessert, in addition to learning very interesting aspects of Chinese culture. The tour had a perfect balance of dining to education (Even visited a Buddhist temple!), to walking vs sitting. I can't wait to attend another Chicago Food Planet tour.

Our very knowledgable tour guide brought us to five different food/drink spots in Chinatown. We ate food from the various regoins of China, with explanations from our guide about the food we were enjoying and stories to go along with the cuisine. We visited a Buddhist temple and a wonderful herbal shop. It was so well organized, our food, greeters were waiting for us at each stop. I'm a Chicago native and was awed by a very different and unique place so close to my home. I am definitely going back with my family to enjoy the great food and atmosphere.

Great history lesson. Great authentic food. I'm not sure I'll be able to eat the plain local take-out, again.

My friends and I really enjoyed the tour of Chinatown. The guide was wonderful. She was friendly and very informative. I learned a lot about the culture of Chinatown. I enjoyed the food but some of the dishes were too hot/spicy for me to eat. I especially liked being able to visit a Buddist temple and learn about it. My only complaint is that some of the restrooms/floors in the restaurants were not very clean.

This tour was most enjoyable. Even though I've lived near the city all my life, I had no idea that there was a "new" Chinatown! The choice of restaurants and food was wonderful. Be prepared, however, to experience some spicy food from the Szechuan Province. It was delicious, but too much heat for me. The amount of food was never an issue. Our guide, Ploy, was informative, helpful, and very pleasant. My group enjoyed her knowledge of the area. I would recommend this to anyone who has guests in the city, or anyone who wants a unique time. Who knew one could go from Michigan Avenue to Chinatown on the water taxi in the summer! This is a great way to experience the 20%--REAL CHINESE FOOD!

I really enjoyed everything about this tour. Our tour guide was very educated, sweet and approachable. The food was delicious, I liked everything I tried (and I wouldn't have normally tried some of the cuisine on my own). I learned a lot about the culture and history of Chinatown and now feel much more comfortable navigating it on my own. Definitely worth the money!
