Lisa was amazing. Food was perfect representative of regional foods. Lisa also gave such a great cultural context for the food we were eating as well as the history of china town. We were in Chicago on vacation and did so many things there but this was by far our absolute favorite by far!!! We highly recommend for foodies and historians alike!

We had a great time on our Chinatown Food tour. Alicia, our guide, was wonderful; genuine, knowledgable, and informative. I would do this trip again.

I really enjoyed everything about this tour. Our tour guide was very educated, sweet and approachable. The food was delicious, I liked everything I tried (and I wouldn't have normally tried some of the cuisine on my own). I learned a lot about the culture and history of Chinatown and now feel much more comfortable navigating it on my own. Definitely worth the money!

We did this during our first full day in Chicago. It was a hot day, but you did not notice because you were either inside or in the shade for a majority of the tour. We went to 5 different stops to actually eat. The tour made sure that all of the three major styles of Chinese cooking were represented, as well as a tea shop and a bakery. The food was delicious, and you definitely did not leave hungry. You also did not feel too full as I have on some other food tours in the past. There was plenty of walking and time in between each stop to digest. The tour also stopped at other important places in the community (a Buddhist temple and a spice/herb shop). The history of Chinatown was well explained. We felt that the tour was run well. Everything went smoothly and we felt welcome at each restaurant. It was slightly awkward waiting at the first restaurant until everyone got there, since it was a small space and other people were coming in and thinking that we were in line. Other than that, we had no complaints at all.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Chinatown Food Tasting Tour. Our guide Lisa, was informative, pleasant and helpful, we enjoyed the different types of Chinese food offered, it was interesting to try foods we would not normally choose when dining Chinese and there was plenty of food on offer. The visits to the Buddhist Temple and the Medicinal Store with all the different herbs was interesting and the break between tastings when we were able to do some walking was a great idea. We would not hesitate to recommend this tour.

Loved Near North and Bucktown but not Chinatown

Really loved the other Chicago Food Planet tours but not this one. The tour guide Jess was very good and informative but that was the only good part. The restaurants chosen were awful. The food was not good and I even had to order a pizza when I got home because I was hungry. The area was really very dirty and I did not feel welcome in any of the establishments. Not one of the shop keepers even explained what their stores had, they just ignored us. In theory a good idea to tour a Chinatown area but not in reality. This tour also was the most expensive, 15.00$ more per ticket- Why? I wouldn't do this tour- try the other two.

Our tour guide, Jessica, was very informed and gracious with our naïve questions. All of the food we tried was very authentic-not the typical American/Westernized Chinese food. I went with my boyfriend whose father is a Taiwanese cook and even he was very impressed by the food we tried. We enjoyed our time with the other 10 people in the group, and at the end of it we were full! The walking distances were the perfect length to get you hungry for the next stop. I would absolutely go on another tour from this company.
