Fun walk even in a rainy day

Nikki was a fantastic tour guide, pointing out all the interesting architecture on the walk, answering questions, and giving insight into the Chicago food scene. We never felt rushed, even though I'm sure we were on a schedule. She maintained her enthusiasm, even as the rain continued to pick up and everyone got soaked. We had a great time and would consider one of these tours again when we are in Chicago.

Fun and interesting, plus tasty!!

We enjoyed our walk with our friendly informative guide. We learned a bit about the history of the neighborhoods that we walked through and some of the houses we saw. We learned some neat facts about spices, tea, olive oil, the chocolate making process, etc. We met some interesting folks as we walked, and we saw some parts of Chicago that we might otherwise never have seen. We walked at a comfortable pace. The overall distance was reasonable, but we covered enough ground to see a good portion of a few different neighborhoods. Plus we sampled some delicious food along the way. By the time we were done we were definitely full. Highly recommended!

The tour was well organized, with a very fun loving friendly guide. All of the 10 food options that we visited were all very nice, and tasty . It was a well rounded tour that goes to many different neighborhoods, with interesting descriptions of the houses and areas. I would highly recommend it to locals and out of towners, who want to learn some history of Chicago, and enjoy some of the great food that Chicago has to offer!!

Our annual girls weekend in Chicago always centers around food, exploring the city, and shopping and this tour let us do all three! Nicki, our guide, was wonderfully enthusiastic and knowledgeable, both about the food and the neighborhoods we walked through. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the stops and tastings (deli, chocolate shops, spice shop, tea shop, oil/vinegar shop, heart healthy pizza restaurant) and went home with heavy suitcases. We've heard they will be offering a new tour soon and we plan to do that on our trip next year!

Most enjoyable walking tour. Our guide was very imformative and interesting and I would recommend this as a great way to get to know the neighbourhood as well as the local speciality food stores.

Exercise, education and Excellent Food

The majority of the three and a half hour tour is spent walking through he Gold Coast, Old Town and Lincoln Park. Frequent stops for short stories, historical perspective and, of course, tasting make the journey less a workout and more a stroll. However, at the end of the tour you will know that you walked a long way. The selection of places to stop and taste allows for every type of food preference, as well as, a few pleasant surprises. I plan to take this tour again in the future. It's that much fun.

Best of 3 tours we had in Chicago

Me and friends joined the Food Planet Tasting, Segway and Wendella boat tours. Although these tours are totally different in nature, and they are all fine tours respectively, I think Food Planet Tasting tour is the best value of all. One star is deducted because the our tour group was quite big in size and we had a little difficulty squeezing into a few places that we visit.

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Emily was very friendly and was willing to answer any questions we had about the places we visited, walked by or how to get to transportation. I would definitely recommend this tour and would love to take it again.

We had a great time

It was lots of fun as we expected from the reviews. It was cloudy and kinda rainy but, worth the effort of going. Emily was great. It is fun to hear the Chicago history on the way to each place we stopped. Loved the tea store, though every stop was great. I can't wait to go back to Chicago and do the new food tour that is starting soon. Eat breakfast but, not a big one. There is plenty to fill you up. It was good exercise to walk the tour and then walk back to purchase items afterwards. Put on good walking shoes. It was fun to get to know new people. I hope the lady from the Houston, TX area went back to an intact house after hurricane Ike.

only one criticism

participants should be able to buy items on the tour as it is sometimes not possibble to return to the shops in one's own time due to time constraints, etc

I live locally and went on this tour with my Mother and two aunts. It was a highlight for all of us and one of the most unique and fun tours I've taken while living in Chicago. Our tour guide was upbeat, thoughtful and kept us engaged the entire time. Although we didn't walk fast, be prepared for a lot of walking and standing. You only sit down two times during the 3 hour tour; 10 min halfway and 20 minutes toward end of the tour. The tour says wheelchair friendly, however, in most of the establishments, you must be able to walk up and down stairs while leaving wheelchairs and strollers aside.
