| This is a great tour to get you "outside" of the tourist traps in Downtown Chicago. You get to explore the great homes and residential areas while touring and sampling local "non-chain" establishments. As long as the weather is nice it can make for a great walk, around 2 miles. The tour includes a jewish deli, tea, oil, pizza, chocolate, and spices and herbs. The food samplings are heaviest (pizza) at the end of the tour. The tour lasted around 3hrs 15 minutes. I would recommend eating breakfast prior to the tour. They are arranging a new tour that focus on a another area of Chicago, be sure to check that out as well. | ||||||

| We've done the uptown, downtown, museums, etc. This tour gives a whole new perspective on the LOCAL scene. Neighborhood history comes alive as we walked among the shops and homes with our guide providing insights. Stopping at small food stores made for a culinary experience as well. Since the tour ends at a different point than it begins, we doulbed our pleasure by walking back on a different route. We are recommending this tour, and the new Bucktown venture, to our friends and family. | ||||||

| I'll admit it. I was skeptical. 4 friends were coming in from out of town and they were the ones who had found this tour online. I grew up in Chicago (ok, in the burbs, but still...) I thought I knew enough about the city, it's neighborhoods and its food. I was wrong. This was a unique and fun way to see Old Town and Lincoln Park, and experience small "foodie" joints that I didn't know existed. Kent, our guide, was knowledable, funny and down-to-earth. He also kept up a good, but not difficult, pace without being overbearing or pushy. I've been telling everyone about this tour ever since (4 days ago). I highly, highly recommend it, and look forward to trying out the new neighborhood tours that are coming soon! Thanks! | ||||||

| This was my me and my boyfriends first trip to Chicago and what a treat doing this tour was! We were so glad we got to visit such neat neighborhoods and see how the locals live. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. Our guide Emily was awesome. She had such passion for the city and shared with us many interesting tidbits about Chicago that I never knew. It was great to get out of the tourist trap that is Mag Mile and downtown! I hope there are more tours in the future that take place in other neighborhoods of Chicago! | ||||||

More of a walking tour than a food tour.

| Perhaps it was our confusion that we expected a tour similar to wine tasting in which we experience small portions of food that reflect the region or city. Instead, we were teased with measly tastings of tea, olive oil, spices and the like. The only hearty portions were the potato pancakes to start the walking tour and the pizza than ended it. Our tour guide seemed as disinterested as we were; Perhaps it was his detached neutral self deprecating failed attempt at humor that set the tone, but we were often bored and disengaged. That coupled with sparse samplings left us feeling cheated. But then again, we felt that way only because we expected so much. Still, the tour had its charms in presenting local architecture and history and the small tiny portions of tea, olive oil, spices, chocolate and the like. If that is what you want, go for it. Otherwise, I say, grab a guide book with a "best of" section and go walk around yourself. You'll save $40 and probably will have had a better time. | ||||||

| If you enjoy unique shops and eating food, this is an event you'd probably like. I do not usually like walking tours because I prefer to move at my own pace, but this one grabbed my eye and held it the entire time. The walk is long-ish, but goes at a slow to very moderate pace; your attention is drawn to cultural and architectural specimens along the way and the myriad tastings allow for periodic refueling. Go with a friend or fellow foodie for a worthwhile experience. (But be prepared to go back in person or online to buy some of the goods you saw along the tour; there is no time to make purchases along the way.) | ||||||

| I highly recommend the Chicago Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour. It was so much fun to go around to shops and restaurants that are unique to Chicago and taste different foods and learn a little about Chicago's history on the way. I think my favorite part was getting to walk through residential neighborhoods that tourists wouldn't normally see and getting to see the beautiful architecture and learn a little about different neighborhoods and buildings. Of course, the food was fantastic too. | ||||||

| We were in Chicago for a "girls weekend" and planned on mostly just shopping. The tour allowed us to experience Chicago outside "the mile" that none of us had seen before. Well worth the time and money! Ohio girls weekend. | ||||||

| our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the neighborhoods that we went through, which was a good thing. We did a lot of walking but there were a lot of those wonderful food stoped on the way. I liked every shop we went to, and I wouldn't change the tour at all. | ||||||

| The food tour was a change of pace. We thoroughly enjoyed the blend of food tasting, Chicago history and architectural highlights. The spice and oil shops were fantastic as were the chocolate shops. We went back and purchased spices and oils to take home for future gourmet meals cooked by my 13 year old. Great idea. Bring it to the Twin Cities. | ||||||

| my wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our tour, despite the hot, rainy weather. niki was an excellent guide - friendly, organized, and well versed in her material. she not only provided interesting tidbits of information along the route and at every stop, but she was happy to answer all kinds of questions about life in chicago. the food samples were varied and abundant. it was fun to meet the business owners who were so passionate about their products. the history of the neighborhoods and cultural highlights made a great food tour even better. i recommend this tour to foodies, history buffs, fans of architecture, and people who like to try new things and meet great people. thank you chicago food planet! | ||||||

| We wanted to get off the beaten path, but weren't quite sure which direction to go. We did this tour the first day and went back to Old Town a couple more times before we left to try the restaurant recommendations. We were very pleased both with our guide and the information we got. The residential neighborhoods you walk through are really beautiful. Our guide mentioned the possible addition of another route coming soon, and we will definitely check it out the next time we go to Chicago. | ||||||

| I enjoyed this tour. I saw parts of the city that I probably would not have otherwise gotten to, and I don't think I would have stopped in some of the places on my own. It moves at a comfortable pace. The guide was flexible, friendly and knowledgable. The highlight of the tour was Bacino's. I asked many people the best places for deep dish/stuffed pizza, and no one said "Bacino's" -- what an oversight! The stuffed pizza at Bacino's was worth the whole tour. I had it again the next day. | ||||||
