I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the "off the beaten path" of Chicago's neighborhoods. Fun food, interesting facts, great architecture. Very nice and knowledgeable tour guide.

It was a nice combination of quality merchants, comfortable yet efficiently paced, very informative and friendly guide, well-organized and sufficient time for each stop. We highly recommend the tour for visitors and residents alike for a good value and a rewardng experience. Ginny Beck and Nancy Bengtson

The Pizza was the best

This tour was a lot of fun. I went on it with a few of my family members and we really enjoyed ourselves. I personally enjoy cooking so I found it quite educational, and even my family that isn't into cooking that much enjoyed themselves too. I would highly reccomend that you take this tour at the beginning of your trip that way you can see some interesting stores you may want to visit while your traveling. You will love the pizza everyone from my tour group did. If I would recommend one thing it was that they add more filling foods to the tour not just the pizza but everything on the whole was great including the chocolates and the balsamic vinegar.

My daughter recently moved to Naperville and I wanted to get to know Chicago, my 22 son and I took the tour and really enjoyed our tour and our guide (Tad?) We both felt like we got the "behind the city" tour. Our group was great and we saw things we wouldnt have probably seen on our own. By the way, half our group were "locals" shich I thought was interesting. I would recommend your tour!!

I thought the tour was very nice although I would consider removing location the Tea and spice stores as they didnt appear to be big hits. Other than that, it was a great experience.

I was impressed with the quality of the products and the friendliness/ambience of the stores we visited. It was also a great mix of food and drink options presented with a lot of information. I learned a lot and our guide was great. Sorry it took me so long to get to this but in the meantime I have recommended you guys to at least three people.

Great tour!

My wife, daughter, and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The walking part was great, as it allowed you to partake in the eating without getting full. We have been to Chicago several times in the past, but covered ground we had never before, and probably would not have without the tour. In the past we usually stuck to the popular spots, like museums and Michigan Ave. We'll cover more ground in the future having had exposure to these areas. The food was great, but the cultural exposure was also very good. We all enjoyed and would do it again without hesitation.

Excellent Tour Guide little value for money

Our tour guide Emily was fantastic! She provided a lot of detail and was cheerful, enthuisatic and helpful. The best leg of the journey was Baccino Pizza. The pizza was delicious and plentiful. Although all the estabilshments provided tastes of their specialities, I felt as though some of them provided the minimum. I would not recommend it. My suggestion would be to provide an appetizer, entree and dessert and maybe rework the price and tour sites. Take Care,

Great day activity

What a great way to have fun and learn some history as well. It was very hot and humid on the day of my tour, but we all had a great time. The walk takes you through many shaded neighborhoods which kept us cooler. The walk was not fast paced, but yet not a stroll. What a great opportunity to go places and see neighborhoods that normally one wouldn't know how to get to unless familiar with the area. Our guide was great and kept everyone on track. Would really love to do another walking tour to another area of the city. It is true that you will not need lunch after the tour as the 'tasting' was enough. We did feel a bit rushed however in the oil and vinegar store, only because it was a tasting place and not enough time allotted. Although we ended way north, we ventured on to the EL to get us back to the Loop. That too was a first for us and very easy. What a fun day!

Fantastic walking tour of historic Chicago!

Our guide Emily was so enthusiastic throughout the tour. She was more than knowledgable about the shops we visited as well as history about Chicago including the architecture and world changing events. I especially loved The Spice Merchants and returned after the tour to purchase spices for myself and family. We loved the tour so much that we've told friends and family about it and hope they will get the opportunity to experience it. Keep us posted about updated tours with new shops. Thanks! -James and Sarah Phoenix, Az

A Unique Version of the Tour (We're Told)
Wed, Jul 16, 08   12:00 PM grpech Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Our tour comprised a total of 4 (plus guide - Jen(?)). We had a grand time. The small number gave us the luxury of shopping as we went and obviously changed the dynamic for the venue hosts as well. Not only were they were consistently friendly, helpful and forthcoming, our small group was clearly less intimidating and they went well beyond what time/numbers usually permit (we were told) in their hospitality. We "ate it up." The ability to shop as we went was great because we would not have had the time to return to all the shops where we purchased. There were two fairly distinct facets of of the tour: food consumption and foodstuffs (tea, oil, spice). A three plus hour tour might be shortened (time/distance) or made smaller by specializing as more businesses become involved. ~Jerry Pech
