My husband and I really enjoyed this tour! Our tour leader was very informative and fun to boot! We learned so much about the city, the neighborhoods, and food! Lots of details were provided about the places we visited, and demonstrations and valuable information about the foods we ate..how healthy they were and why, how it was made, and it all tasted great. I would recommend this tour to any adult able to walk....we went on the Near North tour and plan on signing up for the Wicker park tour next! Kate was Great!!!

We had a great time on our tour! Our guide, Kate, was friendly and full of facts as she led us through the city. Everyone at each stop was so nice and helpful. A must do while visiting Chicago!

Fantastic snap shot of what Chicago has to offer

I had the most amazing time on this tour. It was my first visit to Chicago, I only had a few days in town and I had my 10 month old son with me - who also loved the tastings at every stop. It is the perfect combination of walking, food and the history of Chicago. The food was great and afterwards I met up with my husband and re-traced the tour with him this time purchasing all the produce that we enjoyed and taking advantage of the discount coupons. Now that I have left Chicago I have come away feeling that I've had least had a good taste of what it has to offer and I will certainly do this tour again when I'm next in town.

Interesting and delicious food tastings. Saw more of the area and learned more local architecture and cultural information than expected - a very pleasant surprise. Will definitely go back to some of the shops and will do the other CPF tour next time I visit Chicago.

Our journey began at a local hotdog establishment where we had first met the owner and namesake outside setting up the tables. Most of the people on the tour had never had a famous Chicago-style hotdog and were not completely sold on all of the ingredients initially. That changed in a few short bites with most people naming the hotdog as their most favorite stop at the conclusion of the tour. The tour took place on a beautiful day in June with several eclectic stops throughout the Bucktown / Wicker Park area. The whole time the enthusiastic guide--who was also a transplanted local--wove historic facts and his own passionate affection for the neighborhood as he pointed out area landmarks. The guide was a self-described member of the artistic class who had embraced the neighborhood during a time of economic down-turn but who were presently being threatened by the recent trendy new-comers who were opening the doors to a more corporate atmosphere. The "yuppies" were driving out the artisans with higher rent prices and more chain-like establishments. We learned all of this while sampling our first home-made marshmallow, local brews at a pizzeria and some Middle-Eastern fare. It was a lovely day, well-organized and lead by an engaging guide.

I took this tour with a friend on a recent visit to Chicago. We usually come to Chicago a couple times a year to shop downtown, but wanted to do something a little different on this trip. This tour was a wonderful opportunity to truly get a taste of a Chicago neighborhood from learning about the history, culture and architecture of Bucktown and Wicker Park while also being able to enjoy some of their wonderful restaurants and markets. Our tour guide, Kent. was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and attentive to those in our group. The food stops on the tour provided us with a nice variety of tastings and each was really good. Every stop, from the Chicago style hotdog at George's to the ice cream at i cream, was a real treat. The portions we received were generous and the staff at each stop were very welcoming to our group. We are planning to take the Mag Mile tour on our next visit to Chicago!

See the Real Chicago

This tour is a great way to see the neighborhoods and the off-the-beaten path restaurants you would normally never get to see as a tourist. Chicago is more than just Miracle Mile - it's an eclectic group of communities with a diverse group of inhabitants. Not only does this tour take you to some fantastic restaurants, you will also learn some history about the city and the architecture along the way. Our guide was funny, energetic, and informative. I learned more about Chicago in three hours than I had in the two prior trips I'd taken before. I highly recommend!

We enjoyed each of the selections of the restaurants and thought that the tour was well organized. The info provided in the handout was excellent also. We did think it was distasteful for the tour guide to remind us at the beginning of the tour that gratuities are accepted at the end of the tour. When we booked our tickets we were told that gratuities were accepted at the end at our discretion. We have taken many tours and never before has the tour guide reminded tour participants about his tip...very tacky...otherwise a good tour

My 21 year old daughter and I both enjoyed this tour. It is a great way to find out about local areas outside of downtown. All the places we visited had character as well as good food. We were actually stuffed, and ended up taking some food home. It also had a good balance of walking around and visiting set establishments. I had just taken the Near North tour in April, and throughly enjoyed both. Highly recommended!

My husband and I signed up for this tour on a strong recommendation from friends who had been to Chicago and thought this was the best tour they had taken while there. We concur, and therefore, would also highly recommend this tour to others. It was an excellent way to begin our four days in Chicago as it gave us a great introduction to some of the neighbourhoods in Chicago and a taste of some of the rich culture, history, and the food of this fabulous city. We were very impressed with our guide who was not only very knowledgeable but equally delightful in her presentations at each destination and in responding to our questions throughout the tour. She was very professional and personable. We enjoyed all of the stops along the way but were particularly pleased with the visit to the tea shop, the oil and vinegar shop, and the very delicious finish at Bacino's for a slice of the best stuffed pizza (with an option to slide into the lounge, hop onto a bar stool ,and order a cold one with the other tourists in the group)! My husband and I also want to relay how much we appreciated the wonderful facts and anecdotes Arijiana (sp?) shared with us regarding the history of some of the buildings we stopped to notice along the way . I am going to look for the "Miracle tea maker "online as I have learned that what I am drinking (from a teabag) is actually tea dust!! We learned a lot and had the bonus of sampling the best in reuben sandwiches, chocolate, pizza and much more.... a wonderful tour that made us aware of and appreciate the professionalism, creativity, high standards and pride evident in the merchants/entrepeneurs of these neighbourhoods who opened their doors to us. Take the tour early in your visit and enjoy!

Kent did a great job with our group. My group was made up of nine coworkers all who are local, and then a few out-of-towners. Kent was able to do a great job of giving the basic information for those not familiar with the area, but also to add in some additional information for those who have been there many times before. The amount of food given was almost too much! It was way more food than we expected, but extremely good. You get your money's worth! Overall we had a great time and really enjoyed the tour. We would love it if Chicago Food Planet would expand their tours to other neighborhoods!

I went on the tour with my Mother. We enjoyed the Tea, Spice and Oil, place the most because it seemed the most unusal to us. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the places where we stopped as well as of every thing we walked past. She was very mindful of my mother's recovering broken ankle.

My daughter(26) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only regret I have is eating breakfast. We couldn't finish all the great food at each stop. If we were in Chicago longer we would come back with our coupons and revisit many of the shops we saw. The architectural tour was also a highlight. What great old buildings! I wish that we could have gone inside some of them. We also took the train to our meeting place on Damen Ave. Fortunately, my daughter understood subways. I would recommend sending directions by train for those who need it. It's a much cheaper way to get there.
